I was wondering - Do anybody know why there aren't different kind of "weight classes" ? I mean like 1600 - 1700, 1700 - 1800 and 1850+ ?
Wouldn't it be a great idea? i mean it definitely would pull a lot new Clans and groups of friends to the competative scene, of course the prizes shouldn't be as grand for the 1600-1800 clans. The prizes would be like 5 mousepads or a keep board or a new mouse or a gift certificate for Gamestop, stuff like that?
there are, they're called XXXX+ no ab games.
Also keep board?

keep board
....great idea :O
Unfortunately, as nice as it would be for the competitive scene to be less exclusive, it's most likely not going to be possible to supply awesome keyboards and mousepads and other things. Whose to say a clan who is 1800++ Psr will not create smurfs, troll the 1600++ bracket for some sweet loot.
Sadly you'll have to operate like the rest of us, joining a tournament, hoping to god you don't hit a team like LOAD, MSI, SK, DWi. In the first round... then say, "well at least we didn't lose in the first round!"

PSR is a way to assess skill and not something that has any effect on the actual games. You can have low/mid skill tournaments, but it is highly unlikely you will get anyone willing to sponsor it, and if it was anything worthwhile higher rated players would just use smurf accounts.
The problem with low PSR tournaments is that you just find the guy who didn't deserve to be in the low PSR tournament to begin with. If you're better than all the other guys in the 1600 bracket, why are you in the 1600 bracket?
