Updated for 1.13
I've been playtesting with the idea of making Gauntlet a bit of a semi-carry (Steamboots, Nullstone / Shrunken Head), due to his new Enfeeble making his auto-attacks quite strong.
I have returned![]()
How core would you say blink dagger is on this hero. Is it core like you fail if you dont get it (like blink dagger is for magmus) or can you delay it to try and tank up a bit first?
Also why the concideration of switching grapple and enfeeble to be maxed second. Infernal instability still will give you max charges on enfeeble. Or is auto attacking once before smacking them with infernal that big of an issue? Or do you concider having a little better constant slow better than more nuke and stun duration?
Lastly ghost marchers are still core on gauntlet not striders. Its kind of confusing from your item section since you put striders in the core image, but still list ghost marchers as the go to in the explanation. Phased with infernal instability on is 459 move speed. Thats too good to pass up on a hero that will occasionally need to chase heroes down and escape from sticky sitioations.
I am curious to see what you think of semi-carry gauntlet with steam boots, but I honestly am not expecting much from it as gauntlet is mainly a ganker even with the new enfeeble.
Striders are good when you have no farm, which happens more often than not considering his relatively weak lane presence. If you have good lane control I'd go for more powerful boots, however I haven't really done enough 'testing' to see which is best. Boot choice here is, as is in a lot of cases, not really definitive. I'll change the picture to show that.
Portal Key is supposed to be core for the idealistic 'Grapple enemy to your team' thing, but it does seem like that technique is in general rather weak. It's still very necessary for initiation to stun the most amount of people with your Ult, however you could delay it if you wanted to take something like Nullstone or Hotbl.
http://replays.heroesofnewerth.com/m...p?mid=15624302 is the only high level game / scrim I've managed to play with Gauntlet in, since in general it's hard for me to fit him into a line-up over something more reliable like Magmus / Pebbles / Gladiator.

However if your team gets initiated on, I'd suggest using Grapple to isolate the enemy carry. Try and grapple him across a ledge or further away.
@Milktog You max your grapple because its range increases along with its level, something far more useful than more charges on enfeeble
Edit:// Just read your previous post and realized I was a bit late on my point.
Check out this replay.

IMMORTAL with Gauntlet.
Roger would a Harkons blade be viable for this hero? I know it has an attack modifier already, but just thought you switch on Harkons and: blink , one hit, ulti, one hit, grapple, one hit, nuke. RIP
Also, the only time I managed to actually dominate early on with Gauntlet was when I went middle. The build was loggers, shield, runes-> bottle-> boots-> striders(awesome rune control)->chalice. If you got wards on, and your team is not braindead, you can start almost roaming since your ulti has a v low cd.
When I laned as gauntlet I wasn't able to solo any hero. due to low low farm.I really need to have this hero with a level advantage.
Ah, right. Well here's one where i am gauntlet, non em.

Had some nice hooks too. I followed your guide to a tee in that game btw, it's very helpful.
Honestly, using loggers hatchet to cut yourself a little bit of a nook in the trees to hook people from during laning phase is pretty fun. It's a lot more difficult to land the hook compared to Devo, but it's certainly doable, and if you do it right it practically a guaranteed kill since you end up trapping the person you hooked in the trees. It practically requires that you use the Ability Range Indicator mod, though.
So i followed this guide and played my first time as Gaunlet.

Lulz, the only death is well dive D:
I've been really wanting to give gauntlet a chance, thanks for the guide. Ill def be checking out the replays when I get home from class. Is this replay the most updated Gauntlet?
BTW WHAT IS THAT EFFIN NOISE HE MAKES WHEN HE DIES?
U?
The replay are fairly old. I'm going to have to get some updated replays since they're fairly outdated and Gauntlet is much more of a semi-carry ganker now that his Enfeeble is a lot stronger.
I've only played Gauntlet about 1-4 times in the past few months however, and most of them aren't straight 5v5 pub games.

Hey, I've found this guide very useful, even though its fairly old. I've noticed the most success i've had with gauntlet (in pubs) is when I play him like a semi-carry. I've seen that you posted some ideas for this further up, and I was wondering; what do you think of insanitarius on gauntlet? I normally go for insanitarius on the str heroes I play, and I was wondering if it would synergize well with gauntlet.
I am new to the game and i love gauntlet so far he is my favorite Hero...what would his core build be if you build him like a semi-carry ?
Good guide, but my build is quite different. Normally, I follow this build: blood chalice, steamboots str, helm of the black legion and daemonic breastplate.
Less ganking potential, but more survivability and resilience.
Good guide but i dont like your starting items.
if you build a chalice its all the mana gauntlet will ever need
courier parts for chalice and set of runes
after that striders or marchers
then codex or shamansheadress/helm of black legion. i personally go codex cause if there is any type of stun in my lane we are almost always garunteed firstblood.
also i think you should stress more about how his grapple can pull them closer to you and set up positions like devourer where they are trapped in trees and cannot move
or pull them unexpectedly into your creepwave blocking them to their doom
What does codex have to do with bloodlust?
thanks for feedback though, I haven't really played Gauntlet much recently so I don't have much experience to speak of when it comes to playing Gauntlet on more difficult terms.
I'd sing you a song, but
I'm just a little hoarse.

Two shotting support. Crits for 800+ Dmg.
Fighting madman 1x1 wasnt a problem. Instead of insanitarius lategame, savage mace would be a better option.
Sanity is for the weak!
