500 slots of Public Teamspeak 3 Goodness
For all you Ventrilo fans out there, I encourage you to download the latest version of Teamspeak. It's a vast improvement on the prior version and is probably the only instance in software history where a complete rewrite has improved the program. I would be the first person to agree that Ventrilo beat Teamspeak 2 hands down, but Teamspeak 3 offers a really strong free, fully featured competitor.
I run a server in France with 100:100Mbit, a fast multi-core processor, and lots of memory. It's used for very little: the occasional game server, some web hosting and linux toying, but I'd like to open it up and give the community something back.
Teamspeak 3 is a VoIP program similar to Ventrilo, only that with a non-profit license (like I have), I can host 512 slots for free. With 100:100 I can also offer high quality CELT/Speex voice encoding. If you've never played a game with voice-comms, or indeed currently rent your own server, feel free to give this a try.
What I Offer:
- High Quality, Fast, Reliable Voice Transmission using the same encoding as Ventrilo
- Tiny (<50ms) pings to Europe and only slightly larger for the USA (100ms for USE, 150 for USW).
- 500 permanent, dedicated slots.
- Custom channels on request (including channel administrator privileges for clans)
- A fun, free environment to enjoy playing games in.
So please give us a go, waste some of my bandwidth, I never get through enough.

Here is a video for once you get in on how to use the server for those not used to VOIP or TS3.

Unfortunately I have to go to work now, but I'll be on later tonight - if anyone needs a clan channel they can send me a PM here or an email to matthew at teekay dot me
Any channel suggestions are also welcome in this thread![]()
I used teamspeak 2 years ago which I always preferred over Ventrilo. After looking at this thread I'll have to try TS3.

Thanks bro, I use mumble when my friends are around so this will be nice to try out. I've heard good things about TS3.
Getting an error while starting TS3. (0xc0150002). Anyone here to help me?
In-game VOIP is fine for me, and I can easily mute retards. I don't need "better sounding codecs" just so that people can spam Eminem while playing, teammates being distracted by TS channel wars, enemy players trying to infiltrate channel to listen in, etc.
Cool service you are providing though, don't take my comment as a negative. Its probably great for clans etc.

Make a Channel "Commentaries" with sub-channels "German", "French", "English", "insert language here",...and if someone is doing a commentary make him able to just open a new channel and let people join and enjoy. ^^
You can find me in the german one
Testing, only 14 users so far, we definitely need MOR MOR MOR MORE~~

Teamspeak 3's sound quality leaves a little to be desired (everyone sounds kind of like a robot talking into a tin can), but the interface is pretty good. It's much easier to use than TS2 and has automatic updates, etc. The sound quality's definitely improved in recent patches.
Mumble's sound quality is better and Ventrillo's interface is better, but TS3 strikes a decent balance and the server's free (unlike Vent, where you have to pay $$$$$$$ to have more than 8 people on a time).
Pyroglyphics, u sure use the best codecs available? Sometimes better codecs are blocked by server etc.
