i saw a balance discussion on elder parasite and saw a person post something about elder parasite increasing EHP by 16.7 percent. I would like to know what is EHP?
EHP stands for Effective Hit Points and the general formula is EHP = HP/DamageFactor
EHP (for Positive Armor): MHP + 0.06(Armor)(MHP) = MHP (1 + 0.06*Armor)
Check the stickied FAQ next time.
Oh and to post the correct EHP value for when you have the Elder Parasite state on:
EHP = HP/1.2 = 0.8333..*HP
So you do indeed lose 16.66....% EHP, not gain 16.66...%

Look for my highlighted text (important information) and grey text (interesting but not required information).
He mixed it up. The poster he's referring to said that it decreased and gimped EHP. Also, as an addition, there are heroes who have skills that give them extra EHP (not talking armor). One that comes to mind is Ele when his shield is active.
Phew i was reading this and was like... Hey i posted something about EHP and EP on the balance forums... <bails to balance forums and checks he got it right>
[Guide]The all inclusive guide

Laymans terms :
You have 100 HP, you pick up a 33% damage reduction in some form, armor, evasion,magic armor etc.
Your effective hp, even though you only have 100 is now around 133hp against physical damage,(auto attacks?), and magic damage.
EHP = HP/(1 - Damage Reduction)
This works for damage increase too (Hellflower, EP, Ophelia's slow, negative armor), it's just negative reduction.
For 33% reduction,
EHP = HP/(1-1/3)
EHP = HP/(2/3)
EHP = HP * (3/2)
EHP = HP * 1.5
So, for 33% reduction you have 150 EHP with 100 HP. As reduction approaches 1, EHP approaches infinity. Immunity means infinite EHP vs. that damage type (no amount of AoE Magic nukes will kill a hero with Shrunken Head active).
Effective HP is how much damage it would take to kill you, before reductions for armor/magic armor/shielding spells/etc are counted in. In other words, if you have 300 EHP vs. Magic Damage, a 300 damage nuke would be just enough to kill you (with base magic armor it's about 225 HP).
