    How to fix the problem with leavers!

    Hello there! I tried searching the forums for this topic without results. If this is a repost I am sorry!


    I dont know how many times I'v lost a game because of somebody leaving. The remake funcition doesnt work, because the other team sees it as free PSR and KD.


    I have two ideas to fix this frustrating problem that is really ruining this game. First of all we need to set an example for the leavers, since the "no leavers" function isnt working good enough. I say that we give leavers an one hour ban. Another variation of this could be to adjust the bantime to your leaving ratio, so if you have left alot of games your bantime will raise.
    (This could also be reseted every 6 or 12 months, so that people get another chance, because everybody deserves another chance! )

    ]Now an argument against this could be to say that some people have bad internet connections and yes that is true but a solution for that could be to raise the disconnect time to 15 minutes instead of 5 minutes.


    My second sugestion is that we give the team with minor players the ruling vote to remake the game. So if someone leaves a game the team with the leaver gets to vote if they want to remake or not. This will only be viable for the first 15 minutes of the game, after that its a general vote.

    Now an argument against this may be that people will start leaving so that they dont loose PSR because of a bad setup BUT with my above mentioned system this wouldnt be a problem. Because lets face it, noone will leave a game if it has such permanent consequences.


    I hope that this gets taken seriously and that people may come with own ideas so that we at least can start a discussion!

    If you've ever played the game world of warcraft you would know that they have a pretty similar function to their battleground. If you leave a game you get a deserter buff and you cant play battleground for 15 minutes.

    15 minutes and 60 minutes is a bit different of course, but you must keep in mind that when someone leaves a battleground in wow, the spot gets replaced. In HoN its another story.

    If Blizzard can enforce such restrictions in their gaming community (where people even pay by the month), why cant it be done in HoN?

    Allthough i feel the first suggestion might be a bit harsh, the second one would probably be a good start towards solving this issue

    yeah, 1hour ban for sth u paid 300 american dollars for a game who is only one time fee is so horrible?

    maybe it would be good with a serveroptions that gives you 1hour ban or sth when you leave..

    Its funny how many of the fixes made to hon is really not improvments, just changes as if the staff got tired of last weeks ui and wanted some change. All the UI crap that youve been putting lots of focus on arent improvments at all, constantly changing stuff that already is good or "ok" is moronic when there is so much else to do.

    I write in this thread one last time in order to bump it up to the first page in the hope of you to take action, may it not be in my methods but at least in some other way.

    first av all jnes good thread i really hope the s2 team will review this.

    2nd, this is for serle(#2), u do realize its a one time fee of 30 dollars? in many other games they got ban for ppl wo abuse functions, in this case were talking about ppl who abuse leaving. Just because u paid for the game doesnt make it right for you to abuse and exploit things. If everyone would exploit this leavesystem then this game wouldnt be any fun at all. just picture this: u go into a All random game, some dude gets a hero that hes not so good with and what happens, he leaves. this scenario happened to me over and over again. Same thing with ppl who arent satisfied with the combo in their team. ITS TO EASY TO JUST LEAVE. If 1 player leaves it effects 4 good honest players who knows they either can stay and loose their PSR, or leave and still loose their PSR but with higher leaver percentage.

    If ppl find the ban suggestion a bit harsh (for the record i absolutely dont), then at least jnes remake system would take care of this leaver problem.

    Btw doesnt DOTA have this kind of ban system? Im preatty certain they had a system similar to this.

    Serle has made the onyl coherent point in this thread.

    @jnes: WoW bans only stop an ASPECT of the game, on ONE of your characters. HoN ban would stop play altogether. Also, the no leaver filter is effective enough, host your own games

    @tomtebloss: $30 is how much games SHOULD cost. Just because the trend in MMORPGs is to charge the bejeezus out of you it doesnt mean we should adapt it as normal.

    You are still missing a very good point. We could let people choose them self if they want these regulations applyed for their server or not. (as with the current "no leavers"-check box.)

    Think of it as an improved "no leavers", that way the people who feel like playing leavinggames can play on those servers and leave all they want meanwhile us others can play on the new improved servers with harder consequences.

    i agree with the 15 mins discountion time. By adding an option to terminate the player or not after 5 mins will really make this functon workl

    Your argumentation technique is useless!

    It maybe so that you havent experienced this but that doesnt mean it does not exist?

    One reason for you not having this problem could be that we play in diffrent brackets, in other words; you have higher psr than me and you play with people who dont really wanna leave a game due to a bad start because they are concerned about their PSR.

    The consequence of having a leave % above the treshhold is already brutal - and I speak from experience - in the beta mine was just over as I didn't realise there's a concede button early on, and racked up some leaves (was excited to play the game, didnt really care about interface etc at that time). The amount of games I coudn't join was staggering - and arguably, that was at a time before the majority of people wised up to the 'no leavers' tag.

    I play "no leavers" of course and it doesnt stop people from leaving, so what good would it do to host my own game?
    I sympathise with you, I really do. But the leave threshhold allows for very few leaves (additionally, people who want that status tend to save them for disconnects / emergencies) - so in no leaver games, with an assumption that people who leave a lot won't be in that bracket for long, the chances for leaves are statistically very low. So you're either very unlucky, or you are grossly exaggerating the problem.

    It just seems redundant. You'll end up with tiers:

    Leave all you want (no restrictions)
    No regular leavers (current 'No leavers')
    REALLY no leavers!!!!1 (current no leavers + your idea)

    And lets not forget the very special:

    "You might be a *********** leaver, but you better not ******* leave THIS game!!!1" (just the penalty without the 'No Leavers' tag)

    It all just seems a bit redundant. And, on topic of penalties, ruining your PERMANENT leave% is WAY WORSE than not being able to play for the next hour or whatever. So for example. if a game has ****ed me off enough for me to decide to quit and ruin my profile, that extra hour won't exactly be a deterrant to change my decision.

    There should be a game option that makes the game remake automatically if a player terminates in the first 5 minutes.

    You all do know the game ends and nothing is recorded if a whole team leaves in the first 5 minutes right?

    What do you think about the system where the team with the leaver actually gets to vote for rmk in frame of the first 15 minutes? I mean, this strikes me as a pretty obvious faulty in this game, there is no chance the other team will vote for an rmk, since they often(always?) see it as free psr.
