I had trouble with the colors too... but the Blue - White modification works good for me. thanks for your work. Hope this colors are available in the release candidate too.
Very useful mod! I am colorblind, and this is what I have been looking for, so thank you picklefish!
One thing tho, is that with entire team the same color, it can still be a little hard to see which one is my hero. At least that is what I have experienced. So I would love to see a mod that gives your own hero a different color from your teammates aswell.
First off, I am not at all familiar with all the commands, but I tried anyways and took the liberty to alter your mod so your own team has white, you are blue and the enemies are red. But the code is not very good. It's essentially is just an expansion of your IF-loop, and what it does is cycle through and gives first player 1 the color blue and rest of the team white and enemy red, next toggle it gives player 2 blue and etc. It works for me, but as I said before, its not very "pretty". Is there another easier way to fix this, than potentially have to toggle through it 10 times?
If anyone is interested, you can download it here. So far it only alters the colors of the players, and the button it self does not, but thats just cosmetics. I couldn't see though the code, and its getting very late.
You can create a a variable that can store which player number you are, and depending on the number you can assign a certain set or colors, but that is pretty complicated to do.
indeed.
its mostly shades thats the issue.
blue to purple
brown to red
orange to yellow
that type of thing. I have issues with pretty much all colors that are 'nearly' the same, i can't tell the difference. I worked at a bank for 3 years and swear to god i thought the walls were a cream/baige color. I found out 3 years in they were a very light pink/grey mix.
Colorblind sucks.
I guess I'll post this again at the bottom, cause picklefish hasn't updated his original post with this...

Contains red/white, blue/white and fuchsia/yellow. (and each one inversely)
I'm about to release a hon mod manager version for this soon.
Edit: Finished making the hon modman version, includes an icon: http://www.mediafire.com/?2xzyniwmidg
Edit2: updated above link cause there was a code error.

It helps. There are very few who have a problem seeing the difference between red and white. I got a red/green, Pink/purple, Orange/yellow And very little blue/purple Colorblindness so this helps.Brown/ dark green are hard sometimes too..

thx for the creator it was very difficult before this addon but now i m very happy![]()
from what little i know about colorblindness, i remember that red/green is a pair that is hard to distinguish for some people, and blue/purple is hard to distinguish for some ppl. some have trouble with both. and there are other color difficulties too i'm sure.
what i always wondered was that the minimap was always green/red for most RTS games. i think the minimap is a major issue that should be addressed for colorblind folks.
wow now that dota got its own independent engine, things are really taking off. so much flexibility and devleopment from many people. open source/ liberty / free markets ftw!
