I really have to agree. Glacius is currently very weak and really needs some buffing. It's not enough that he is ridiculously slow, his str gain is pathetic. Ok I understand that he is slow so that he can't chase like crazy by chaining his slow and disable, but really.. does he need to be so low on hp? Even if you try to get him only str items, some heroes get more hp than him without a single str or hp item. His last hitting capabilities are also very poor at the start of game as his base dmg is a joke and his attack animation (projectile speed) is slow as *you know what*. It's really a shame cause I like Glacius' playstyle but Im really thinking never to play him again cause he is almost unplayable. What I suggest for Glacius is either give him some more base speed or give him some more str gain. Both of these buffs will help his survivability which is what he really needs otherwise, like alot of people say, he is and will continue to be, just food.Exactly, Glacius is pretty much food.
Early game: He bought courier, he placed wards, he maxed aura, good support right, everybody loves him. -> He has very low money, because his farming capabilities are more then poor -> thundra blast lvl 1.
Mid game: He always placing wards, maxing ice impr. -> No farming capabilities -> no money. Very few kills with ulti. Easily to silence/stun his ulti. He starts dying in fights.
Late game: He is always placing wards... he has very low money, poor items, and lower level then others. Very fragile. In late game aura became less effective then early, mid game, what leads to game 4vs5.
Yes, I see you have some valid points there. Taking them into consideration I might reconsider. Oh wait, you dont have any points.disagree
In any case, it is obvious that alot of people have the same idea about glacius and it is even more evident by seeing how amazingly underplayed he is.
He has seen more competitive play then most HoN heroes and is among the top 3 DotA heroes(most picks/bans in pro games) with slightly weaker abilities.
In pubs ppl wont play him because it is an item independant hero that should farm only wards and boots and roam. I think that most good players could get a nice 55+% winrate with it at their own level(own level is where you have 50% winrate) but don't want to play it because it doesn't do much alone and your success is hard to measure in any other way but winrate as you should farm badly and KDA rate is very hard to keep decent etc..
E:Ice imprisonment is very good with panda as it has skills that move the hero so the hero doesnt actually seem immobilied at all while taking hardly any damage being in the middle of opposing heroes. I have also been thinking about dark lady glacius combo as dl has 4 castable spells, mana aura would help early farm with 35 mana 60 dmg 1200 range skill and also aggressive moves in lane as there would be mana to use +dmg and blink offensively. Also when in combat the hero often goes in silencing opponents and whacking them brutally for 6 secs and after that it could be iced to get up the cooldowns.

Sorry if this has been mentioned already because I didn't read all 7 pages, but I don't agree with your skill build. Don't even bother with your ulti until you've maxed out chilling presence, and for me personally, ice imprisonment. Even at the very early game, unless you've been lucky and gotten a lot of last hits/kills, your not gonna have the survivability to stand still and let the ulti fall. This is the build I usually go
1. Tundra Blast
2. Chilling Presence
3. Chilling Presence
4. Ice Imprisonment
5. Chilling Presence
6. Ice Imprisonment
7. Chilling Presence
8. Ice Imprisonment
9. Ice Imprisonment
10. Glacial Downpour
11. Glacial Downpour
12. Tundra Blast
13. Tundra Blast
14. Tundra Blast
16. Glacial Downpour
Surviving is Galcius biggest problem, as ppl have said, he is slow, low hp, one of the most squishy and most targeted in games, you just know when they gank your lane they are coming for you.
I` ve played a few games now and noticed it hard to get a positive score, I`m winning games but wow, if your not careful you just end up food for the opposite side. I try to play safe lane, I buy; monkey, wards and runes of blight at start, I ward the rune and area`s I think they are going to gank me from, its only a matter of time, guaranteed MID will target you for first gank run. I can`t last hit with him, just such low dmg, so I harass enemy as much as I can although I find you really have to watchout for the creeps they roll you and they end up doing as much dmg as you do to the enemy, so im constantly running backwards, if they have a ranged then I can harass melee but no chance against ranged unless their range in less then mine eg; moon queen.
My first priority in upgrading monkey, good for my team and me, I try to buy boots first, its just your so slow and no boots = death, as soon as I get boots im getting wards again keeping my lane safe and setting up for counter gank if they come. Now here is my problem depending on how we are rolling and who is on other team depends on what I want, I found bracers are OK.... but they dont really give you that much extra health, I`ve been buying Beastheart then slowly..... upgrading to Helm, just find it gives me abit more survivabilty, my feelings are your not going to get kills with Glacius, unless your lucky, best I`ve done is 12/2(more luck then anything), so the best thing you can do for your team is not die. My next item is get my boots upgraded, plated greves or ghost marchers, been lucky couple games to get Post Haste, love them makes you sooo fast and you running away alot with Glacius.
I find it hard to level with Glacius also, MID, Late game unless your team is ganking you spend alot of time doing nothing, you cant lane because the other team will gank you, can`t jungle and also you shouldn`t be, thats for the carries, so if your team is going slow you can end up 4 or 5 levels behind them, very annoying.
So from my newbie prospective he is great for been "team mana battery" but apart from that he is pretty much useless mid, late game.
really why havnt this guide been updated
no limit on wards, there is a 6 min cooldown for christ sake if that doesnt limit it to 14 wards a game on approx 1 hour games I don't know
and why is it no mentioning of creep stacking it is important for carries getting runed axe, or heroes like swiftblade having a decent aoe attack just stack creeps make him run in freeze him and blade storm, 4x stacking should be working just hope that they dont have a wolf master though it's safe to stick with 3x stacking
did I mention the guide is outdated?
also saying that in teamfights that you should put on ENHANCED marchers instead of the steamboots that you suggested earlier. Not such an experienced glacius player but would say that all boots seems good for this hero. And none of them being as bad choice as the enhanced marchers for
also complaining about low base damage who cares you have 2 decent abilities doing 440 damage (not really reliable because of the aura, but still you can stun and thats easily some early kills together with a FB hero.) and a 2.9 int gain, meaning + 3 damage and loads of int, get 2 minor totems and buy a mana battery at outpost and let your monkey give you a power supply recipie and you have a decent damage + some extra survivability. Sure he's not a good soloer, but who cares you aren't playing 1v1 games either. Also don't go this hero unless you play together with some reliable peoples and don't think your teammates is able to carry the game if you go support, rather go a tank or a semi-carr (when a teammate picks swiftblade it's also a good time to pick glacius).

lets say you have and a free farming ,:chro: or or any other free farm reliant carry, swiftblade might want to join the ganking team.
1st gen cookie-cutter build for glaci:
1. Tundra Blast (slow)
2. Ice Imprisonment (stun)
3. Chilling Presence (aura)
4. Chilling Presence (aura)
5. Chilling Presence (aura)
6. Glacial Downpour (ulti)
7. Chilling Presence (aura)
8. Ice Imprisonment (stun)
9. Ice Imprisonment (stun)
10. Ice Imprisonment (stun)
11. Glacial Downpour (ulti)
12. Tundra Blast (slow)
13. Tundra Blast (slow)
14. Tundra Blast (slow)
15-25. Stats (pewpew)
starting items: wards/courier, runes, runes, minor, minor, minor, minor
build into: (wards; always you), mana battery, marchers, power supply, plated greaves, (flying courier), fortified bracelet, shrunken head, portal key
quick hero guide: when ganking, use stun first (if within range) then use slow OR use slow first, wait for it to expire and then use stun. stun can be used in combination with ulti. REMEMBER TO LET THE ENEMY USE STUNS AND MINISTUNS BEFORE YOU ULTI. or cc him. idc. glaci is a babysitter and a support. have the baby you're babysitting for do creep pulls if possible during laning phase. stack creeps for him during mid and late phase.
you're not an initiator, so enter teamfights with care (invis rune, shrunken head). don't care for sh*t about your level, but it should come naturally as you ***(protip): USE HOMECOMING STONES TO PORT-GANK (you can even portgank mid cuz of your op slow-stun***. if you fall behind, don't worry, nobody cares about your level. just don't feed and do what comes naturally to help your team.
plated greaves and tundra blast can be used to push lanes really quick and annoy the enemy scout. because scouts are annoying. so it's payback.
sorry if I'm being arrogant or rude to any other opinions, I wrote this in like 3 seconds. seriously. no joke. 3 seconds.

The Game. You just lost it.
I agree with the flying courier thingy, as I said, I wrote it in a rush. About the steam boots though I disagree. When you buy plated greaves and fortified bracelet you get a total of 9 additional strength which is almost as high as the +10 somewhat more versatile bonus you'd get from steam boots. With plated you also get a +5 armor bonus, which adds survivability. So for that reason, I think that steam boots never fit into the glacius build, but that ghost marchers can be a decent pick to get close with the ulti or for orbwalking.
- God Tier hero.
- Best support in the game.
I think more needs to be said about Glacius attack animation.
Projectile is fairly average in terms of speed and his range is huge, which is great for harassment. This allows you to play Glacius very aggressively in lane. Very aggressive Glacius play opens up your ability to snag last hits in between chasing the enemies away from the creep wave.
I also believe that Plated Greaves are much better on him than Steam Boots. Glacius has horrific movement speed, and the difference between Steam Boots and Plated Greaves is crucial I think.
I've seen a few people buying Alchemist's Bones and I have to say I think its a great idea.
- Your CK is going to be poor because you have no Creep Wave Wiping ability.
- Can't really farm the jungle.
- Alchemist's Bones have an easy buildup, and can help you maintain a higher GPM for warding and working toward your portal key even if your team isn't downing towers.
This is how I'm going to probably start building Glacius.

Skill build:1: Ice Imprisonment
stopped reading there. Anyone who thinks imprisonment is better than blast lvl 1 should never play glacius
blast > imprisonment, the most usual build is blast, imprisonment and then maxing aura. Pick up ulti at 7 11 16
Saying one of the most picked heroes need an buff is silly.
phase boots vs steam boots is situational depending on how much team fighting vs ganking there is.
You don't comment in the guide on avoiding the ultimate until your core of abilities are maxed, and instead recommend getting it every time its available.
I see very little utility in Glacius ult relative to how much utility I see in strengthening the rest of his abilities. I usually don't take ult until very late or very late mid game.
I might get one good Glacius ult off in a game, but if Glacius didn't even have an ult, he would still be god tier.
Glacius' ult is rather underwhelming at times, but I prefer having that 1 point in it over an extra .5 second root. The ult has its own snare which is good enough for me, even if you only ult for 1 second you still slowed everyone around you.
I have returned
