When you are seeking to win and on the attack, a failure is nothing but one less victory, but when you are playing defense, a failure is defeat

its funny people think these guys are real serious pro teams.. Any Professional gaming team does NOT recruite in an open forum, often invite only at a very high level (ie top 50 ladder).. From what I can see, vVv had afew high placings in local lans for other games (games with small competitive scenes btw) but is not that huge.

You guys should read up on teams such as MYM (MeetYourMakers) or SK, they are what you call a real progaming team, often DO pay salaries to their players, and invite only, high rank finishes among many games, big games such as CS 1.6, SC, DOTA and WC3. (if you look at HoN clan rankings, MYM is already up there with insane stats, probably just their beta team too. they will be #1 when HoN is released garenteed.)

These vVv guys are going in the right direction, but it seems like a casual team by recruiting pretty much anyone who applies. That is not a pro team, that is a team just mass recruiting hoping that afew good players will come out of it, enough to form a decent team for leagues. (Which is totally fine, just saying people thinking this is serious are far off)

well even if it isnt them, you can bet they WILL eventually have one. Once the game is more balanced and in release, they will probably pick up some team.

My point is, This vVv team is small compared to some of the bigger teams.

Noone at the moment, been trying out for a few, haven't found one good enough yet

I was curious, as a "professional" gaming clan, how much do you pay and/or what makes it professional.

sponsors are the most part of what generates the money for teams to afford a salary for members, not small sponsors, but huge ones (like Acer, Intel, Samsung, etc) so until you find a team with one of those, you will not make a wage from gaming, unless you win some tournaments.

With said salary being paid to the player, they are expected to represent the team (and sponsor by wearing their brand, either real life at LANs or their tag online) with professionalism and upmost manners, along with putting in the long hour days to increase their chances of winning the major LANs/tournaments that produce the team enough money to continue on in the Professional gaming scene. That is what makes it "professional".

You need to do your homework. First off, MYM is now broke. They have been out of it since they lost funding. Read this: http://so-l-oz.blogspot.com/2009/03/...about-mym.html SK has been around since 1997. My hats off to our German counterparts.

Also, I don't consider Major League Gaming (MLG) or the World Cyber Games (WCG) as "local" lans by any stretch of the imagination.

You are out of touch. If anything, you might want to do your homework before you share outdated information.

Many sponsors have cut back their level of support, especially in the current economic climate. Otherwise, a great answer.

    Your question has been answered.

As far as the pay question, it is way too early to decide anything about pay for any team. So, to answer your question. . . absolutely nothing.

Get a team, win a major event for cash prize and then start asking for pay. Until then, questions like this seems premature.

Sorry, I knew about the MYM basically going out of service thing, but I havent been following "scene news" recently, and just used them as an example because throughout the past few years, they have been the top non-korean model of professional gaming I can recall, along with SK, that survived the longest. They are back at it, and while not the topdog they used to be, Im sure they will be fine.

I dont consider MLG or WCG to be local lans, yet (and I might of misred your post) I didn't see anything about winning either of these events, just high placings on games that have a small scene. While applaudable, I wouldn't put you in the ranks of teams like SK or rather american teams such as CoL, EG, etc (as I said, I dont follow too much scene news to know which is still alive, yet when you think of multi-gaming in the states, theres certain top teams that come up)

Just as a background, I do help out on a team that has sent many players from BW and WC3 to WCG finals on multiple occasions, along with having one of the top Halo 2 teams back in the day for MLG (not the Ogres, but others who were dominating) and top american CS and CoD teams (although like MYM, we had a misstep last year and are just getting back into things)

Well, I consider CoD4 and L4D to be well known games. Our console division is unmatched (gears of War 2, etc), and we're continuing to grow. CoL, Eg and Pandemic all were big names, no doubt. I think we could discuss eSports, the business, all day. In the end, we are what we say we are, and we have a full hardware sponsor from SteelSeries, and they only sponsor the best organizations that deliver value. Not sure what else you wanted to know, but no matter how much top teams may not recruit, our business model is different. It creates community and drives site traffic.

Thanks for your input, but I prefer you explore our site, and look around, and then compare us to some of the others you mentioned. I think we're doing well.

Our website is a global community, however, when it comes to our #1 Team, our sponsored team, this will be an American team. There many great organizations in the EU like sSK Gaming and Fnatic that we know will grab the best EU players. However, our community is very international, so if your looking a great community to develop your game, vVv Gaming wants you.

I am interested in playing with you. I have years of DOTA tournaments, leagues, and competitive team competitions. I am laid back and mainly want to play IH games with good players for now. If I see a potential with forming a team I would be very interested.

My ingame name is Brokebackmnt. Tell me whats up and if you guys wanna play.

How much money do your CoD4 players or Gears player make in a month? What is my earning potential exactly?

If you're just looking for a competitve team that's already proven, why are you posting a recruitment post on these forums instead of contacting one of the current top teams and offering to pay them to play for you.

I am really just curious to the economics of "professional" gaming and how much money you make/lose as the CEO of "vVv Gaming"
