Extreme confusion over which items stack!

I know that life steal will not stack with an attack modifier (except abysmal skull) but what items are attack modifiers???

    For example..

    will Basher and Lifesteal stack?
will shield breaker and lifesteal stack?

    I JUST DONT GET IT.

is there a list of all the attack modifiers somewhere?

    please and thank you

It's pretty simple. Attack modifiers do not stack with each other.

The attack modifiers are Slow (Frostwolf, Icebrand, Frostburn), Shieldbreaker, and Lifesteal (minus Abyssal Skull). Slow doesn't stack with Shieldbreaker, Shieldbreaker doesn't stack with Lifesteal, and Lifesteal doesn't stack with Slow.

Any other combination of effects will work together (minus hero skills that are attack modifiers).

    Hope this cleared things up.

Watch out for the BIG RED TEXT that tells you that the item you are using has an attack modifier and won't stack with other attack modifieres (items with BIG RED TEXT).
Q: Which is worse? Ingorance, Indifference or Vulgarity.
    A: I dont know. And i dont give a ****.

There's also a couple of attack modifiers on heroes, it's always passives that add a negative effect to the enemy that's attacked. Accursed's sear, slither's toxicity, magmus' lava touch for example.

What part of "ATTACK MODIFIERS" don't you understand? Any item with "ATTACK MODIFIER" (or ability) with that written on it won't stack. k?

Thank you for clearing up. Just confusing because items that seem like THEY MODIFY YOUR ATTACK actually aren't attack modifiers.

pretty much anything that has a % to happen (brutalizer, thunderclaw, savage mace, riftshards) can stack. Only exception is wildsoul's bear's root

Just think of it in terms of a proc. Unlike in DotA, items that proc to modify attacks (Charged Hammer, Thunderclaw, Brutalizer, etc.) will stack (Also note, I have no idea if that still holds true. I haven't played DotA for a while but thats what it was like when I played.)

Attack modifiers will not stack with other attack modifiers, however they CAN be toggled.

    About the toggling attack modifiers.

Hypothetically let's say you have a shieldbreaker (-6 armor on attack) and an elder parasite (17% lifesteal on attack)

At the lower left section of your screen above your mini map, you will see the icons of whatever modifiers you have. For the sake of this explanation, you would see the elder parasite icon and the shieldbreaker icon.
(Note: Hero abilities that contain attack modifiers such as Magmus would also appear above the minimap as a toggleable icon.)

Only one icon will be displayed in color. This is your currently active attack modifier. However if you wished to use a different attack modifier that you have, you would simply click the icon above the mini map that you wanted to use (Not your inventory.)

For instance, if you were creeping and wanted to use your lifesteal, you would click the elder parasite icon to activate lifesteal and deactivate shieldbreaker.

This is a significant difference from DotA where changing attack modifiers required switching up item locations in your inventory to switch between attack modifiers.

I do believe yyr_'s link explains it all.

Also check Guides & Lists before posting anything like this here, because chances are it has already been answered.
