I have Windows installed on my PC, and the current ModManager is perfect for me, but I'm just thinknig in 3 kind of people here: Non-Windows users; Mod Developers; And for the last, the users.
That's the hole point here. With the Mod Developers base, I hope the people create more and better mods. And with a Web Repository, I hope developers use it, because the hole point of it existing is to in the future the users can browse mods more easily.
This is the final project.
Maybe it would be better to seperate the editor and the new manager to not confuse unexperienced users.
btw. I've read your PM. It would take some time to get into this whole Jaxe thing and I don't think I have the time to do this, sorry
I could help with the interface and such, but I will not have the time until June.
But if your not in a hurry feel free to PM me![]()
hm I am interested by this because I study java programming, nice work!
Wouldn't it be easier to write this stuff for the current ModManager?
And portability.. any Linux / Mac gamer has Windows (or an Emulator) anyway.
Well, that's not the idea behind this project or linux.
The idea is to provide an easy to use mod manager for all operating systems, so mac and linux users don't have to mess with windows, mono or wine.
@Java vs. C/C++/C#/etc
Stop that spam.
A project of this small size won't let you feel a difference in performance and there won't be any problems in portability.
This project uses Java -> end of discussion. You are free to do a C++-Version.

I'll do so. Only developers that wants will download it, as a plugin.
Ok, I'll ask someone else to do this.
Probally is when we are going to start building the final interface. I'll call for your help.
Yes, everything has limits, but for such program dude, this limit is more than enough. And the speed won't interfer.
The reason of the game is to install in your native OS, including Linux/Mac, and this software is for that.
Thanks for the support. That's it, you said just all.
Please, they could just stop talking nonsense stuff. They won't fell THAT difference.

Guys,
I've heard enough critics for using Java. Ok, I read enough, and I think I'm doing the right call. If you have OTHER critics, please tell me. And suggestion is more than welcome =]
All for it, i'm using ubuntu and those run time libraries aren't available for my version.
modman should be written in java in the first place!! since hon is already cross-platform =]
Shirkit you better pre-order soon if you plan on continuing with this. I can't wait until you have a working version![]()
My card has been blocked. I don't know what to do. It won't be ready until May 14th.
Dude, I'm willing to pitch in and buy you a copy, if I can. It may not be until next Monday, though.
I'd also like to help out however possible. I know some programming, but I'd be better suited with providing a website or something since my Java skills are still in the early stages.
I'll see how I'm going to do that, because U$30 it means R$55, and that's 1/5 what I make in a month.
