How to creep stack as Engineer (with Turret!!)

    Creep Stacking with Engineer's turret
    A comprehensive guide

    Preface
As engineer's turret at best does mediocre damage until later in the game, using it to stack creeps can be hugely beneficial to your team. Usually used to stack ancients, engineer's turret can insure a successful creep stack simply by pressing a few keys at the right time, even if your hero is on the other side of the map.

    Pros & Cons

    Pros
    • Can increase the GPM of the hero clearing the camps by up to 250
    • Only requires a few keystrokes, you don't even have to use the mouse
    • You don't need to focus your view on the creep camp in question

    Cons
    • You lose the ability to use your turret in fights
    • If the enemy finds your turret, they can easily kill it for a hundred gold.
    • The turret may occasionally kill a creep or two if it targets the same one again and again.
    • Some stack require wards of sight to complete.

    The Equipment

Wards are needed to provide vision of the camp to the turret in some locations

Logger's Hatchet is occasionally used to get within a 400 range of where the turret need to be placed.

    Attack Range 500/550/600/650

This is important to note, as some of the creep pulls will not work with the lower-ranged turret, as the turret can not be placed too close to the creep camp lest is stop the spawn altogether.

    How to stack

After you have chosen a good place to put the turret, stacking is relatively easy. Wait until XX:54, then simply press: ` to switch to the turret and then w to switch the attack back from "Only Heroes" to "All Units". Wait about 2 seconds to allow the turret to attack and aggro the creeps, then press w again to switch the attack mode back to only heroes.

Make sure to watch it's hp and mana, and to use shutdown when necessary, to prevent the turret to die or run out of mana, either of which would result in a failed stack.

    Stack Locations

    Legion Ancients

This is by far the easiest stack to pull off succesfully, simply place the turret where indicated!
    Turret Level 3 Required

    Legion Mid Lane Hard Camp

This is a slightly harder creep stack to pull off successfully. You need a loggers hatchet or runes of blight to cut down a tree to place the turret in this location.
    Turret Level 4 Required

    Hellbourne Ancients

This is the hardest creep stack to pull off. You need to place the turret in exactly the right place (within about 100 units) or the creeps will get 2 attacks per pull onto the turret. (With my positioning it's only 1, which allows you to stack 8 times before the turret dies). You also need to place a ward of sight down to allow the turret to see the creeps. This is still beneficial, because for 200 gold every 12 minutes you can give your carry a GPM increase of 250! Be careful not to place the ward too close to the creeps, lest it block the spawn.
    Turret Level 4 Required

    Hellbourne Mid Lane Hard Creeps

This creep stack requires a ward of sight in order for it to work correctly. Your turret is put in a much safer position where it is less likely to be killed by an enemy hero. This is probably the only hellbourne creep stack I would attempt in a competitive game.
    Turret Level 4 Required

    Hellbourne Rune Spawn Creeps

This particular spot is incredibly viable early game because you only need level 1 turret, and because it can also act as a ward for top rune. Again a ward of sight is needed, but this is not a problem because you free the ward usually used for top rune.

    Turret Level 1 Required

Wow... amazing find. I'll be trying this tonight for sure.

edit: I was able to put a turret in location number 2 without a loggers hatchet / runes. If you approach from bottom tower area you can run right up to it.

You don't really need a hatchet, kegs move trees just as well, even faster!

I didn't have much luck soloing a 3 stack as an Engie with the typical core (thunderclaw>Charged Hammer, soulscream, Ghost Marchers) in a practice game. I assume this is really more for a carry who can tear through Ancients late game? Or am I doing something very wrong?

Yeah the point of this is to give you puppetmaster/swiftblade/random hard carry an extra 250 GPM.
