Yes
No (and I have stated why)
As the topic says, unsharing a courier with a player should cause any items on that courier to go into that player's stash after a certain amount of time, say 30 seconds. The delay is so that you can't use this as an exploit to quickly transfer an item when someone is already using the courier.
If the courier dies within X time, say 10 seconds after being unshared, the items are destroyed as well. This is so that someone who sees their courier is about to die can't unshare to save their teammates items.
The obvious reasons for this are to stop the laming of sharing your teammates the courier, waiting for them to put something on it, and then unsharing it causing the player who put their item on the courier to lose it. Also, keep in mind you can't just drop their item somewhere making them lose it anyways, as the item is muted and undroppable by any except the player placing it on the courier.
You can still just get the courier killed to cause the items to be killed as well, but this is less likely. If you have a set of friends who attempt to grief, you would also potentially be killing their items, and at the very least costing the player who griefed a courier.
if it is really true that unsharing a courier destroys items i absolutely agree. luckily this never happened to me so far...
it doesnt.
this suggestion would be exploited simply because using it this way is an exploit of its self. your more than just multiplying the delivery time it takes to get items delivered as normally a courier has to travel to the hero to deliver items.
hell you could have 2 players buy couriers that stay in base at the fountain and just instantly deliver items to heros from the fountain with 10 second delays if you shared and unshared.
The stash is the place where items go when you buy them if there's no hero or courier around. It's only accessible from the fountain. It would be extremely unlikely that this could be abused - it'd only be possible if someone bought an item on the courier, then someone else started using the courier to deliver a different item, and the person who bought the original item was at the base and wanted it back, but couldn't wait for the courier to finish the delivery, but could wait 10 seconds.
Exactly. People just don't like reading the very first line to see that though.
The delay could be increased if needed to guarantee a non-possibility of abuse. It definitely wouldn't stop the potential to grief, but it would provide a deterrent in the form that at the very least you would lose your courier. Plus, if you have someone nice on the other team, they could even give you back your item if it's apparent that the person was only suiciding the courier to grief. Not likely perhaps, but it definitely does happen.
It doesn't destroy the items, but you can't get the item back since you don't have control of the courier. It's just used as a way to grief, and the item remains on the courier forever. They can't drop it or anything, so it remains there until the courier dies or they re-share the courier so you can take the item. This way would make it go back into your stash after a certain amount of time, so that the person can't just steal your item.Originally Posted by torfteufel
ah i see stash misread. slightly less abused but still not horribly needed. if your teammates a douche monkey and is going to hijack your items in his courier or feed theres not really much you can do aside from kicking them. i mean if he really wanted to get rid of your items this way hed just toggle on and off your control of the courier while fighting control of courier and theyd still kill your courier and take your items.
but sure why not implement this if you think it would really help.
