So here's the deal, right now I'm wearing a t-shirt underneath the button-up shirt I'm wearing, and I can't think of the last time I did this. I almost always go without an undershirt while wearing business-wear.
Is it considered normal to wear an undershirt or not?

Um, for button downs and the like I almost always do, but for t-shirts never.
If I'm wearing a dress shirt, of course! I don't wear a t-shirt under there though, I wear a ****ing shirt made to be worn underneath other clothing.
Wife beaters under t's
Undershirts under work/dress cloths.

You don't wear undershirt unless you're above 40, that's an unwritten fact among men.
But you don't wear too transparent shirts either, if you do, you better have a vest or suit on top of it (and you wear it coz it's too hot otherwise, etc.)
Other than that, no undershirt, definetly. I know what i'm talking about, i even modeled for FHM's summer trend few years ago

I don't know jack about fashion. Never said I did. Have been in a few ads here in China though, on the merit of being a westerner!
But, I do know most of the dudes I know (99% of whom who are under 40, though this is limited to people from the UK/Canada/US/China/A multitude of South/Central American Countries) do indeed wear undershirts or wifebeaters... and therefore this unwritten rule was likely unwritten due to nobody abiding by it or even knowing of it. Talkin' about what people actually DO and not what they should/should not to as dictated by the fashion lords.

I had to use the internet to find out guinea t is another term for a wifebeater.
Wondering what regions of the US this term is used in, stat.
wifebeater is such an abrasive word. i prefer terms derogatory to the homosexual italians in my neighborhood. i'm from jerz so we hate guidos.
Want to look like a guy who doesn't know what STYLE is? Then wear an undershirt under your dress shirt...
Do you ever see models wearing an undershirt under the dress shirt? NO!
Cool guys wear one of the following but never BOTH:
A) JUST a dress shirt.
or
B) JUST an undershirt.
Also keep this thought in mind... The polls state that the majority think you should wear an undershirt underneath your dress shirt... But where are you? You're on some nerdy GAMERS forum which is reason enough to do the OPPOSITE of what the majroity are thinking, because these are all nerds and everyone knows nerds have zero fashion sense at all!
When you're 60 years old then you can start wearing the two together but not until then!

Glad to see 5 people so far know the proper answer to this thread.
Polls still seem split. For reference my dad doesn't wear undershirts over dress shirts, and I haven't, as it seems to mostly be sort of a retroactive thing (I'm wearing a t-shirt I'd be embarrassed to be seen in public with, so I put on a dress shirt over it).

guinea t under a dress shirt is still the best. tshirts are lame, noshirt says you're trying too hard.
