Do most people find that this is more of a nuisance than a benefit?
I love getting the 20s CD, but this other little tidbit just seems to make me fail 20% more hooks than usual... when we're chasing down runners, now I can't hook unless my teammates get out of the way.
Other little things.. I had a couple fails just because I didn't think to check the path to the enemy and an ally moved between us.
Meanwhile did I ever use it to "get away"? nope. Never needed to, never wanted to![]()
for 50 more gold you could get a maxxed out puzzelbox.
ult -> mummys -> hellfire -> puzzelbox -> all three autoattack the hero. (use the wizards mana drain spell)
By the time mummys is over the hero will have lost over 700 mana and could take well into the 1k of damage.
The Hook's allies effect is indeed more a hinderance than and help.
You don't need the 20 second cd anyway, you ult in and single out one of their heroes, their team trys to kill you and fails. you team kills the rest of their team.
40 seconds is still a very short cd for an ult.
only heroes i can think of right now with shorter is![]()

Generally, the ally hooks aren't too bad of an idea, but yeah, it's more annoying than a real benefit.
Imo, if it was a split ability with shared cooldown, it would be a lot more beneficial.

If they would just make the team hooking a separate spell, it would be great.
It can be a great escape, but currently it's just annoying.
I thought hook doesn't go through allies without staff and just fails?
How is ally hooking an hinderance, then?
because if you want to hook an enemy and an ally runs in the way, you hook your ally.
Imo make the ally hook 'D' like wildsouls damage buff in bear form, and nymph's tele with sotm if im not mistaken
To everyone who thinks backdooring is illegal

Even then, it can really be a huge benefit if utilized with skill.
Make the staff toggleable like a mock, with it hooking allies in one and not hooking in the other.

or it shud be like nymphs ult how she has 2 options.... tp to the area and tp a dude to her... pharoah shud be like hook enemy/ally
What I was trying to say is..
You can suggest a change to the hooking mechanic all you want, but S2 won't change it.
They won't because doing so would unbalance the Hero...
It's like suggesting to change Devourer's grab to grab only enemies.
It'd be overpowered if it didn't require some sort of difference.
Also, SotM doesn't affect the hooking abilities. I thought that was already a part of the main ult of Pharaoh.
Pharaoh's ult is a projectile, not really a blink.
I think it's pretty useless tbh. Pharaoh plays as an extremely aggressive hero, paving the way for his team. You could remove the ult feature of hooking allies and no one would really care.

Well, SOTM is a fun gimmick for the 20s ulti cd, but I would imagine you'll always be better off pound for pound getting defensive items (behe heart / barrier idol) and a puzzlebox.
Also I don't think it hooks ally creeps - only ally heroes, but this is still pretty annoying.
I guess you could compare it to how sotm increases damage AND mana cost on some ults... for pharoah it decreases the cd but increases some of the complexity. If used properly the ally hook thing can be a buff, I just find pretty much everytime I've ever hooked an ally it was not what I wanted to do ><
