This only applies to Custom Account Icons and will not affect any other facet of the shop.

We've rolled out a few changes to our store, and want to make sure our community is informed.

Our goal is to reward our early purchasers with avatars that will not depreciate in value too quickly. For players who purchased the avatar early, it can be frustrating to see it be purchased at such a low price only 60 days later.

Now, the avatar will hold its exclusivity for longer making the avatar more valuable to the people buying it.


  • We've removed Early Access and you can play new heroes for free when they're released*!


  • Early Access Edition Alt Avatars will now become Debut Edition; they are Limited, but may be released in the future (does not apply to old Early Access Avatars. Those are still exclusive and will not be re-released).


  • Price declines will no longer be based on the age of the avatar for our premium/non-premium/skin avatars. Declines will instead occur based on when new content for that hero is released.


  • When a new avatar of a hero is released, the Silver price will drop for older avatars, but not the Gold price. Further decreases in the pricing on heroes will be discretionary and not based on release or time.



Alt Avatar Tiers


  • Skin (Tier 1, 2, 3), Standard (Tier 1, 2, 3), Premium (Tier 1, 2, 3) - These avatars are priced based on sales history, release date, and features.
  • Story Arcs – these avatars are based on the ongoing lore of the game. They will sometimes offer additional incentives, but will always remain at a fixed price. These include collections like the Four Horsemen, Rise of Ra, Neutral Uprising, etc.
  • Debut Editions – These avatars will be released with the newest heroes to enter Newerth. They will be available for a limited time and after that may be brought back for special occasions. These avatars also have fixed pricing.
  • Limited Edition – These avatars are available for a limited time and can be brought back for other limited engagements. They remain at a fixed price.
  • Gold Edition – These avatars are available for a limited time and then will not be brought back unless changes are made to them that warrant an additional purchase period.
  • Holiday Edition – These avatars are available during a certain Holiday Season each year. They may also be brought back for special events.
  • Convention Avatars – These avatars make their debut at cons or shows and may or may not be made in conjunction with partners. Each of these has different release rules, but will remain at fixed prices.
  • Community Avatars – these avatars are made in conjunction with the community. They may include contest winners and actual fan made content. These avatars will also have fixed pricing.
  • EA Avatars - These avatars were released with previous heroes. They will not be re-released.

HoN 3.1 isn't just another big balance patch. Our goal with this patch is to set a new precedent for how we develop HoN; improving the game requires us to listen closely to our community and deliver more meaningful patches that keep the game fresh, competitive, and exciting.
