Hellbourne
v. 1.01

Once a priestess of Sol, she was corrupted and dragged to hell. She quickly gained favor amongst the lost souls and became a trusted battlefield leader. She has now been set loose to crush the Legion and all who follow the ways of the light she once held so dear.

Model

The Demoness is armed with a scythe and heavy armor. As an example, something like the below photo might be appropriate (with the continuing skin tone of the face above and such of course). I'd prefer the sashy-skirt type thing to be carried over with the armor:

Stats

STR: 22 +3.1/lvl
Agi: 16 +1.7/lvl
Mag: 17 +1.9/lvl
Movespeed: 300
Attack Range: 150 (Melee)
Base Damage: 47-51
Starting Armor: 3
Starting Magic Armor: 5.5
Attack animation: Slashes with her scythe

Role
Intiatiator: The Demoness has stat growths and skills that should put her in the front of the fight.

Voice
The Demoness' voice should be low and seductive with a slight hiss.
Spawn: "I will bring the darkness to this world."
Movement: "Leading our troops." / "I'll go first." / "Send me in." / "Marching."
Attack: "Attack!" / "Crush them!" / "Tear them apart!" / "They won't survive!"
Ultimate: "Fear my power!"
Dying: *painful scream

SKILLS

http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh256/SteveGarbage/icons_9252_btn.jpg Skill 1: Crippling Wave
The Demoness throws a wave of dark energy off of her scythe, stunning those in her path.
Deals damage and stuns all enemies in a line. The effect weakens the farther away the enemy is.
Action: Target Dual
Type: Magic
Range: 750
Cast Time: 1 sec
Mana Cost: 150
Cooldown: 21/18/15/12 seconds
Activation: Units are damaged and stunned depending on their distance from the Demoness. Units take 400-((.6/.5/.4/.3*(1.5*Distance from Demoness)) damage and are stunned for 2.5-(Distance/325) seconds.
Don't move!

Visual: The Demoness' scythe glows with a purplish/black electricity and then fires in a cone coming to a point at the target.

This is the Demoness' main disable. The skill is targeted like the Sand Wraith?s disable, in that you can either target the ground or an enemy unit to fire the skill. The damages and stun are distance based, so the closer you are to an enemy, the more effective it is. With a hero right on top of you (0 Distance), the max damage is 400 and a 2.5 sec stun. At melee range (150 dist), the damage is 332.5 and a 2.05 sec stun, and at max range (750 dist), the damage is 62.5 with a .5 sec stun.

The cone has a max radius of 250 at the firing point then narrows to a point. If the spell is targeted at a unit within its max range of 750, the cone will obviously have wider angles at its base and the point will converge on the unit, dealing damage and stun appropriate to the distance.

The best way to fire the skill would be at the ground at its max range to maximize the amount of enemies it could potentially hit. But the ability to target a unit also makes it a surefire way to hit you really need to nail a target. If targeted at a unit, however, the spell could be deflected by a Nullstone.

http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh256/SteveGarbage/icons_4816_btn.jpg Skill 2: Dark Whirl
The Demoness whirls around with her scythe, causing a vortex that pulls enemies in and disorients them.
Pulls enemy units toward the Demoness and causes them to miss on attacks for 4 seconds.
Action: Self Position
Type: Magic
Radius: 230/270/310/350
Cast Time: .3 sec
Mana Cost: 75/80/85/90
Cooldown: 15 seconds
Activation: Pulls units caught in the vortex close to the Demoness and applies the Blinded debuff.
Blinded (Enemies): Miss on 20/30/40/50% of attacks for 4 seconds.
Get over here!

Visual: The Demoness quickly spins in place, creating a dark vortex around her that pulls all units into close range (melee range or closer).

Dark Whirl allows the Demoness to pull enemies into close range for a more powerful stun and to launch a better ult. Think of the vortex effect as a very fast Tempest ult. The blind effect also helps to stop some auto-attacks in their tracks for a short period of time as well.

The spell has no damage component to it and the range is fairly short, so I kept the mana cost low, although the cooldown remains fairly high making it a move best used for initiation or to catch and finish off runners. The spell with its ability to move enemy units, would also be useful to break channeling spells.

http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh256/SteveGarbage/icons_6341_atc.jpg Skill 3: Cleave
The Demoness' scythe is so deadly, it can rend even the strongest armor with little effort.
Type: Physical Attack
Mana Cost: 15
Cooldown: 3/2/1/0 seconds
Adds 10/15/20/25 physical damage and reduces enemy armor by 1 for 5 seconds. The effect is stackable up to 10 stacks.
Does anyone else feel a breeze?

Visual: A white slash mark appears on the enemy when the skill is used (somewhat like how Madman's attack shows claw marks).

I assume that this skill would be classified as an Attack Modifier, but I'm not 100 percent sure as to how the mechanics of those things work. This auto-castable attack buff will add physical damage while reducing armor. Although the extra damage is only 25 at the fourth level, with the the 0 second cooldown and up to a -10 armor reduction, the extra base damage being done should make the skill decently balanced. The mana cost is higher than some attack mods like Maliken's regen but lower than more powerful mods like Kraken's Splash.

http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh256/SteveGarbage/icons_6385_btn.jpg Superior Magic: Soul Armor
The Demoness can sap the soul of her enemies, augmenting the strength of herself and her army.
Damages enemies based on their distance from the Demoness while adding armor and magic armor to allies.
Action: Self Position
Range: 600
Cast Time: 1 sec
Mana Cost: 200/250/300
Cooldown: 120 seconds
Activation: Deals 250/300/350x((625-Distance)/600) magic damage to each enemy in the radius and adds .5/1/1.5 armor and magic armor per unit hit to all allied units in the radius for 7 sec.
My soul is on fire!

Visual: A purplish-black-electric ring appears 600 units around her. All enemy units burn with a dark fire for 1 sec (similar to Accursed ult) and all allied units affected get a glowing purplish-black shield dot above their heads for the duration of the buff.

This skill does damage based on distance, with enemies closer to the Demoness taking more than people far away. The damage, unlike the stun, is calculated by a multiplier, meaning it will do far less to units farther away than units up close. I used this formula to allow the range to remain at 600 (pretty large) to boost the buff, since units in the 400+ range will be taking very small damages.

The buff is obviously more useful the more enemies that are around, making it a great teamfight skill. The duration isn't terribly long, but should give a team a good punch in the middle of a fight. The mana cost is relatively high since the possibility to add in upwards of 20 armor and magic armor can really turn the tide of a battle. The skill only adds armor to allies, it does not reduce enemy armor values making it just a pure buff and not a drain skill.

Here?s some damage outputs just to check on balances (at level 3):
0 Distance: 364.6 damage
150 Distance: 277 damage
300 Distance: 189.6 damage
450 Distance: 102 damage
600 Distance: 14.6 damage
Since the damage type is magic and not true, those damages would also be reduced based on magic armor.

Notes on skills/synergy:
The Demoness has a pretty good STR gain and her skills benefit her more the closer she is to enemies. So it makes sense that she wants to be right in the thick of the battle.

Basically a battle can open with a Dark Whirl to bring the enemies in, a stun to hold them in place, then drop Soul Armor to do damage and ride out the battle. Cleave is more of an all-the-time type skill that can aid her in farming as well as in attacks against a single-hero to boost some killing power.

The Demoness can be an extreme threat if she?s on top of another hero, since her skills are more powerful. She's pretty ineffective when at a range though, since her stuns and damages will be less effective.

Items
Items for the Demoness can vary greatly based on your preference to build her as a STR DPS or a Tank. I would personally support more of a tanking role, but here's some items that are must-haves for the Demoness.
Must-haves:
http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh256/SteveGarbage/s625xc.png Arcane Ring: She doesn't have a great INT growth and her skills have decently high mana costs, as well as an attack modifier than can continually sap your reserves. Also a nice support item.
http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh256/SteveGarbage/2lnxwzp.png Portal Key: Positioning, positioning, positioning. You need to get in the middle of the battle fast and this is the best way to do it. By porting in and immediately dropping a Dark Whirl, you've already set yourself up well.
Options:

http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh256/SteveGarbage/1iogwj.png Frostfield Plate: An item I personally love for tanky types with good spells. An additional AOE nova would mesh well with other skills and the armor is a bonus too.
http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh256/SteveGarbage/6fyrfl.png Astrolabe: To fill out more of a support role, adds the heal plus can stack onto armor.
http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh256/SteveGarbage/2q8ron6.png Runed Axe: Another great item for tanks, it would help increase farming ability as well as add a good chunk of damage to take advantage of after an armor reduction from Cleave.
http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh256/SteveGarbage/iqdg7r.png Elder Parasite: For someone looking for a bit more DPS and hero-killing, the combo could help make up for smaller agility growth and would combine well with armor-reducing cleave. However, questions of whether it would stack against Cleave is a mechanics question I'm not sure of.

Hero combos
Good teammates
Other AOE Blinkers (Tempest, Behemoth, Axe, Glacius): You're an initiator. But if you get another hero who can hop right in the thick with you, some real chaos can happen.
Fragile DPS heroes (Dark Lady, Sand Wraith, Arachna):Your armor-reducing cleave and miss-inducing Dark Whirl can allow DPS heroes a bit more security in a fight. They'll kill quicker and should remain safer if enemies are whiffing their auto attacks.
Good matchups
Melee heroes: Your good STR, armor reduction and blind will make DPS heroes struggle against you if you're not completely jumped. In a team battle, you can help to neutralize their ability to rape you and the weaker members of your team with Soul Armor. Plus, if they're on top of you, your stun and damages just increased too.
Bad matchups
Blinkers (Magebane, Wretched Hag, Dark Lady): You have skills where you want to keep the enemy in your wheelhouse. If they just hop out of the battle, you're basically out of luck.
Ranged DPS heroes (Corrupted Disciple, Arachna, Forsaken Archer): You're at a disadvantage whenever your hero is at a range already. Combine that with a damage output that can take down a pile of HP in no time and you might be in some trouble.

Notes from the creator
Any feedback on the hero build or the skills would make you one of my new favorite people in the HoN community. Please consider the skill concepts first and the numbers second. Input into the numbers would be great too.

If there are suggestions that you have to improve this hero, or if you just want to tell me you think she's awesome, I would appreciate any input at all. Of course I hope that she'll take the STR Hero Contest prize and be implemented, and if you want to see her in the game, help do your part to get her voted in!

Thanks in advance for you time and your help!
