Announcing HoN League! http://honleague.com (http://honleague.com/)
I am proud to announce what will soon be the first established League for Heroes of Newerth. We are proud to be working with S2 Games on the development of their In-house League System which will make HoN the best competitive game since Counter-Strike. The minds behind some of greatest DotA leagues (DXD & IHCS) bring HoN to the next level of competitive play
HoN League consists of two tiers of play, each with their own HoN In-Game League Channels:
* HoN League [HL]
* HoN League Invite [HLi]
Channel HoN League : This is for skilled players who have earned the right to call themselves a competent player. Each HoN League player is required to know all of the heroes in HoN, as well as attain a higher level of skill and teamplay. Getting vouched in HoN League requires a try out game, and being accepted by one of our vouchers.
Channel HoN League Invite : This league is for professionals, and HoN e-Sport recognized players. This channel will consist of many DotA "professionals" in this channel and the vouchers will be top tier HoN Players, as well as, internationally recognized for top tournament placements.
HoN League is not only just the greatest experience for HoN play, it is your source for HoN e-Sport news, articles, coverage, events, tournaments and interviews with your favorite Professional HoN players.
Currently the HoN League Channel is open for support, and questions before the official closing of the channel to invite list only. Feel free to stop by and ask questions.

I hope Lego will hold some test games as well, He is russian.
You're better off asking him, or posting on forums about Russian test game times.
We have large staff and growing so it shouldn't be hard to find one at your play time.

Have you folks ever considered having an average gamer league? It'd be interesting because it could be used as a ramp for average skill players to graduate to the [HL], so it would keep even the terrible among us busy :)

Though we currently have only this active account, me and two other friends have been playing competitive DotA for years and we would love to be a part of HoN league. As soon as I get to invite them to create their own accounts, we will earn the respect that requires an organization of this characteristics :)
Greetings from Argentina :)

They should add a third tier for casual people who just want to play the game competitively and might necessarily be the best. Something like CAL's system for counterstrike when they had three tiers and the lower one was open to any1 who wants to join and invites are given out based on performances in teh lower league.

Cool..:) Looking forward to it.
On that note.. you should also screen your recruits, HoN League. There's a few of asshats out and about in the community pub games carrying the [HL] tag and berating new players.

Like who? And there is only like 15 people with HL tags.

I honestly can't recall their names. Just really a heads up.
So wait, lets see if i get the right, a playher can only play in this official s2 league if you Hunter says so? what bullshit is that. i would think that the clan that player is apart of have the right to say if he's good enough to play for them. not you.

Um, I fail to see any point behind that. This is a PROFESSIONAL league. Anyone can start a clan and say so and so is good is good. Hunter is the leader, but it's not up to just hunter, there are a bunch of vouchers and you need to prove yourself. Just like everyone else and just like in every other league. If you are not willing to prove yourself, then continue to pub stomp.
- Steve
Yes and the clan that player is apart of should beable to decide who plays for them. not the league admin, this isnt pubs, this is clan league, the whole point of a league is to test ur clan agaisnt other clans. and to improve agaisnt other clans. clan games is so different to pubs. and i dont pumb stomp. i want to play with my clan in a league, but only if hunter says i can? no ty, and i think its kinda wrong that S2 agreed to that.
Now if you were testing to see if the clan was good enough then id be happy. but indidviual players of said clans? are you realyl gona test every player of every clan before they can participate?
I agree to testing the clan to see if they are good enough to play in the league, but then after that its up to the clan which of there clan members play for them.

i played in a basketball league where all you had to do was pay 5$...
the league should only test the clans skill level, and thne leave it up to the clan who plays for them. really s2? is this how you really want your first official clan league to go? to allow non s2 staff to dictate who is allowed to play for there own clans?

It's an in house league which people play in when they don't have enough people on to do a scrim/clan war. These were extremely common in DotA and how top players continued to improve.

Its a league where you -sign a game with 9 other good players and are put on random teams based on xp/skill. Usually pretty even teams. Good tiems to be had for sure
ah okay then :) i understand

thx so made its
Very nice. Very very very nice. Even if this is not where I'm aiming at.
Could you, maybe, differentiate league players from others on the forums as well? Like different nick colour or something. You know, since league members are usually good players, it adds a bit of weight (especially in balance discussion) to what they say.
And yeah, HoN needs also mid/high skilled league (something as a escalation ramp for this).

Should be one for amateurs also, although maybe I shouldn't respond since I don't know what the average level for acceptance is, but I'm pretty sure it might be quite high :o

I thought it was quite bad myself. Not that I could have done a better job. Just saying. There's way too much garbage, and those of us on 1920x1200 resolution actually like to USE that extra space rather than bunch everything up into a tight wad of gross in the center.

why cant you just release one decent website jeff

isz, If you read the sticky on how to make a post you would see that the forum you are posting in requires you select a prefix.
One is [test game] , one is [voucher], one is [admin] depending on what you are applying for....
Same dxd isz, do before reading instructions, go and ask directions on the way.
Not my style, but ok.
If people are interested in an "open league" for people to gather and play vs others who are not "high skilled" we might consider it. Options are open, and the API from S2 games' HoN is very versatile and user friendly.
Thanks for your input guys. Any questions feel free to ask the staff.

Elaborate. What's terrible?
I think he was referring to the poor design. The whole thing is a mess.
I'm sure there would be someone on these forums that would be willing to help you design a website that follows good design principles at least? Maybe you should ask around and surprise us all with a usable website?

like i said, if you read the instructions you would know you don't post a vouch request, you apply to a test game. You can't post a test game because you are not staff. In the top of the site says "apply for [HL]"
read it. This is not dxd, we don't tolerate that attitude, you'll have to wait for some other league to allow it.

This. An open, but recognized, league would give new players a standard of play to aim for, as well as give mid-level players something to do besides stat farm in pubs. Spectating matches in the open league would also make it easy for vouchers in the upper leagues to see how skilled an applicant is.

It would also be a great way for clans to scout out potential new members to pick up, though I guess you covered that.

CounterStrike? Competitive? lol. :D
... only StarCraft trumps Counter-Strike in having a serious competitive scene, and only then because of Korea.
Do a bit of research. =)
About what kind of skill should we expect to have to be able to get into the basic league? I'm no expert but I can usually hold my own in lower level Noobs Allowed games. Would that be sufficient or should I just wait before I give it a shot?

to be fair, tritran kicked you out of DXD for a time and he's pretty much the reason it was so successful
the only reason you were ever involved with it is because you have money, which is the only way you'll ever get any respect in this world since you're an idiot and pretty much a joke of the competitive dota community

You left out the part where he was banned from LoL for getting mad at their developers because he could not have "The Official" LoL league and broke the NDA out of spite. You also forgot his failed attempts at making money from DXD (which is always his ultimate goal, do not be fooled by his "love for the genre").

Yay for all the elitist *******s gathering up in one place now to see whos e-peen is the biggest.
I hope S2 themselves removes the need for these kind of leagues. Bad behaviour shouldn't be tolerated in any kind of game and they could easily tier the games with PSR (for example) and force auto-balance in ladder games.
And really, this is not a professional league. Just no. No matter how hard you try you will never get a league with only professional HoN players (because there practically wouldn't exist any for a long time).
And if you want a respected league, get rid of the pub-rules against backdooring, if you wanna hold hands and reward bad players you can get plenty of that in the public games. Don't ridicule good and intellligent players.
Condomplate
08-12-2009, 01:15 AM
there will be ranked play, for single players entered into randomed evenly "matched" play as well as arranged team play on its own ranking bracket
so all of you thinking that leagues will be the end-all of hon, it is not. it is just a second option for the baddies to all play with each other when they can't cut it in the official play

I think a standalone league will be usefull as well as the ingame ladder. I don't want adjudicate on honleague.com . I think the game and the community needs people who start projects to support the publicity of hon.
Therefor my friends and I started a community / cup system, too. Lookup this post (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?p=122450) to get to know it.
