View Full Version : Suggestion: Attack Animations

I don't know if there has been a post about this before. But some of the attack animations seem really long and drawn out before the actual hit takes place.

The 2 that I notice the most are Magebane and Soulstealer. I find it significantly harder to last hit with those in HoN then with their DotA counter-parts.

But I agree the animations do feel clunky.

i think they are slow on purpose. but it'd be hella fun if every animation was instant..so it would be easy to last hit and stuff and even non-experienced players can beat experienced ones at ease, right? and please deactivate turn-rates ... they further delay my attack and cause me to miss my precious last hits. i wont even talk about these nasty casting times (especially these annoying ones of torturer/pyro). Soulstealer ulti should be instant too...sometimes i get silenced during the cast, that just CANT BE

I find it easier to last hit here than on DotA, of course I haven't testes all heroes.
One that I noticed is that in fact SoulEater has a bigger cast/attack animation than on DotA.

The developers' aim is to make the most DotA-like experience possible. This thread is pointing out a difference from HoN to DotA that may not have been intentional. Be respectful.

Be respectful.I'm not being disrespectful. Most people post their subjective feeling about a hero/item and forget the overall balance. Even if hero x manages to get a 20-0, he isn't certainly overpowered. Sure it's annoying to get killed by stunlock/one-hit or whatever and it's hard to last hit with heroes like Hellbringer/Glacius and so on but i think that's no reason at all to change stuff like that. That said, in my opinion it is VERY easy to last hit with soul stealer. One can even use his first spell to instantly kill a whole creep troop. It isn't very hard to last hit with magebane either.

Fair enough but some animations, as stated, are definitely off. Glacius' is actually too good. So is Pyromancer's. Accursed feels right but Magebane does feel slow to me.

They need to get rid of the little blade twirling thing magebane does before he attacks lol.

I think that the different attack animations are needed to add diversity/difficulty to the game, if you have a easy attack animation on magebane he farms really well. and tears through every game.

Make that his backswing transition into his next attack so you don't put a nice animation to waste.
