The Story

For hundreds of years the Insomniac has walked the plains of Newerth driven mad by the curse set upon him, being unable to sleep the insomniac cannot distinguish between good and evil, he is oblivious to whether or not those he slaughters are allies or enemies, none the less he is out for revenge and will stop at nothing until he gets his good night rest.

The Role




The initiator/mass disable! Walk in and stay in the fray as long as possible to utilize his passive to the its maximum potential. Your role is to absorb some hits while your teammates come in and finish the job. He has some killing power, but he excels in team battles therefore he should be in nearly every team battle.

Attack Missile: a wisp coming FROM target*

*I wanted the animation to look like he was stealing a dream so instead of the missile going TOWARDS the target it's coming FROM the target into the insomniac, that's why the 0.3 cast animation is important, it'll look like he attacks fast, but in reality the attack animation will slow him down. It would kind of look like the Soul Stealers soul drain.

The Voice
*Creepy, Wispy, Wraithy voice*

Movement:"Yes Yes..." / "I?m ON MY WAY?/"Soon..."
Attack:"Eternal slumber awaits!" / "Never wake up! / "Huah!"
Killing taunt: "Goodnight..." / "Peace at last!"
On death: "Finally I can rest! "AUGhhh!"
Funny: "What do the boogeyman, sandman, and I have in common? We prey on children at night! bahaha" / "If you keep touching me, I will visit you in your sleep!" / "Have you ever had a dream where you felt like you were falling? Well you were..."

Insanity(Q)

Insomniac taps into the darkest regions within himself to unleash havoc upon an unfortunate target be it friend or foe

Skill Mechanics: (Self Buff): The insomniac goes into a state of insanity, increasing his attack speed and movement speed by a static percentage. He locks onto the nearest target in a 150 AoE. It will always attempt to target a hero first, but may target a creep or allied hero if they are within 150 range of the cast of the spell.

Skill Type: Magic
Skill Range: 150
Mana Cost: 100/125/150/175
Cooldown: 20/18/16/14

[1]: The Insomniac gains Insanity for 1 sec, locking onto the nearest target for the duration.
[2]: The Insomniac gains Insanity for 1.5 sec, locking onto the nearest target for the duration.
[3]: The Insomniac gains Insanity for 2 sec, locking onto the nearest target for the duration..
[4]: The Insomniac gains Insanity for 2.5 sec, locking onto the nearest target for the duration.

Insanity: The Insomniac gains 100%/150%/200%/250% attack speed and +25/50/75/100 movement speed

*Note* Non lethal damage against allied heroes.


*Note* Can be stopped prematurely by using the [S] Stop button


{Animation}

Goes into a frenzy, his claws glow blood red, a red miasma emanates from him. Very noticable so that the enemies can be like "OH FAK!"


Runic Bind (W)

Insomniac draws power from the cursed runes that bind him into eternal wake and attaches himself to the nearest enemy

Skill Mechanics: (AoE disable/nuke); Units caught within the aoe are bound to him by a rune shackle, it isn't a stun but a movement disable, e.g. think of Puppeteer's Hold, except the least length remains the same no matter how close you are, so there is space for them to escape. (Paint IMG comming soon!)

Aoe Radius: 250/300/350/400
Mana Cost: 100/125/175/200
Cooldown: 30 sec all levels

[1] 1 Enemy hero caught within a 250 radius are leashed to the Insomniac for 1.5 seconds. Units cannot move farther than 700 units away from the Insomniac. Deals 100 dmg a second.
[2] 1 Enemy hero caught within a 300 radius are leashed to the Insomniac for 2 seconds. Units cannot move farther than 600 units away from the Insomniac. Deals 100 dmg a second.
[3] 2 Enemy heroes caught within a 350 radius are leashed to the Insomniac for 2.5 seconds. Units cannot move farther than 500 units away from the Insomniac. Deals 100 dmg a second.
[4] 3 Enemy heroes caught within a 400 radius are leashed to the Insomniac for 3 seconds. Units cannot move farther than 400 units away from the Insomniac.Deals 100 dmg a second.

*Note* unlike puppeteer's hold, you can keep running away from the insomniac aslong as you are faster than he is.


*Note* although you can run away from the insomniac if you are faster while leashed, it is possible to have a dragging war against the insomniac e.g. you leash pollywog, and then attempt to drag him into your tower, but he has the ability of minimal resistance to run away.



{Animation}

Ghostly runes chained together originating from the Insomniac leash the enemies much like pollywogs redesigned skill "Tongue Tied"

Atrophy (E)

Those that dare wander near the insomniac irresistably grow tired, the longer they stay near him the more certain they will reach their demise

Skill Mechanics: (Aura) Enemies near the insomniac lose their movement speed and attackspeed at a static rate per second, when it reaches its cap the enemy is stunned.

Skill Type: Magic
Aura Range: 600
Cooldown: 5


[1] Enemies gain 1 stack of Atrophy every second capping at 50, stunning them for 0.5 sec when capped.
[2] Enemies gain 2 stacks of Atrophy every second capping at 50, stunning them for 1 sec when capped.
[3] Enemies gain 3 stacks of Atrophy every second capping at 50, stunning them for 1.5 sec when capped.
[4] Enemies gain 4 stacks of Atrophy every second capping at 50, stunning them for 2 sec when capped.

*Atrophy: target loses 1% of their movement speed, and 1% of their attack speed.


*Note* 5 seconds must elapse before atrophy can be built up again.

{Animation}

Maybe little Zzz's start popping out of the enemies heads, the more Zzz's the closer you are to being stunned. Or possibly a graying mist developing around the limbs, the deeper/whiter the mist the closer to one is being stunned.

Through his insanity and eternal wake the Insomniac has gained unimaginable knowledge, one would be surprised what you learn when you never sleep, instantly putting his enemies into a state of prolonged atrophy

Skill Mechanics: (AoE Disable) Insomniac puts enemies under prlonged atrophy for the duration of the spell which immobilizes, silences, disarms and perplexes the target, also making them immune to all outsides sources of damage except Runic Bind

Skill Type: Superior magic
Range: 600
Mana Cost: 300/350/400
Cooldown: 120


[1] The Insomniac forces enemies into a state of prolonged atrophy for 2 seconds, able to be dragged by the runic binds. Large amounts of energy are expended casting the spell; Insomniac loses 200 base movement speed.
[2] The Insomniac forces enemies into a state of prolonged atrophy for 3 seconds, able to be dragged by the runic binds. Large amounts of energy are expended casting the spell; Insomniac loses 150 base movement speed.
[3] The Insomniac forces enemies into a state of prolonged atrophy for 4 seconds, able to be dragged by the runic binds. Large amounts of energy are expended casting the spell; Insomniac loses 100 base movement speed.

* Prolonged Atrophy: Units are silenced, disarmed, perplexed, and immobilized. Immune to all dmg sources except the Insomniacs Runic Bind.



*Note* Insomniac can cast Runic Bind and is able to drag them, but is balanced by the negative movement speed.


*Note* Runic Bind's damage and duration is prolonged for aslong the enemies are under prolonged atrophy


{Animation}

The Insomniac would lift his hands into the air and expel an AOE of thin or targeted runes, e.g. like soul stealers ult, but they actually hit the targets.
