Hero Looks: I imagine the hero as a humanoid bear walking on two legs. But it pretty much could be anything that feels strengthy and fits a earth theme.

Earthly Protection

Blesses the target, placing a spell on them that will repeatedly cast a barrier on them that absorbs damage.

Skill Mechanics: For 12 seconds, buffs the target every 3 seconds with a barrier that lasts for 3 seconds and absorbs damage.

[3] Absorbs 30+0.5xAncient Protector's STR
[4] Absorbs 40+0.5xAncient Protector's STR

Skill Type: Active, Target Ally
Manacost: 75/85/95/105
Cooldown: 30/20/10/5
Cast Range: 700

[Note]: First barrier is immediately applied on spellcast, making it a total of 5 barriers created.
[Synergy]: Since the Ancient Protector is supposed so be a tank/initiator, this will help him survive. The short cooldown on higher levels gives him the possibility to be still useful while not being attacked.
[Visual]: A clear, lucent sphere pops up around the target every 3 seconds.

Resonance

With every attack, the Ancient Protector causes soundwaves to course through the attacked units body. With each attack, the soundwaves intensify. After a short duration of not attacking, the waves will be released dealing damage in an AoE.

Skill Mechanics: Attacking applies one stack of Resonance on the attacked unit. After the target is not attacked for 3 seconds, the stacks of Resonance will be consumed and a Shockwave will be released in a 400 AoE around the enemy unit, dealing damage.

[1] Deals 10 damage per stack.
[2] Deals 20 damage per stack.
[3] Deals 30 damage per stack.
[4] Deals 40 damage per stack.

Skill Type: Passive
Damage Type: Magic
Debuff Type: Physical

[Note]: Enemies that have means to become magic immune will still be affected by the Resonance debuff and receive stacks, but the damage won't be applied to them.
[Synergy]: This helps the Ancient Protector to fulfill his role as a tank. The ability will make the enemy team target him, since they know that, if they let him be, the outcome may be devastating. Synergizes with Earthly Protection, since the ability will help him survive being focused. Also synergizes with Ripple because the ability is capable of keeping enemies in melee range. The ability can be combined with Heavy Pressure to repeatedly stun enemies by attacking every enemy once and waiting for the procc.
[Visual]: Much like Chronos' Curse of Ages, this ability will apply a visible ring of sonic waves around the target.

Ripple

The Ancient Protector causes shockwaves to ripple the ground near him every now and then, damaging and slowing nearby enemies.

Skill Mechanics: Deals 60 damage every X seconds and slows by 10%. Slow % stacks up to 5 times.

[1] Activates every 6 seconds.
[2] Activates every 5 seconds.
[3] Activates every 4 seconds.
[4] Activates every 3 seconds.

Skill Type: Passive
Damage Type: Magic
Debuff Type: Magic
Debuff Duration: 6 seconds
Area of Effect: 350

[Note]: Since the debuff type is magical, it can be removed by activating magic immunity abilities.
[Synergy]: Prevents enemies from running away while you stack Resonance on them. Also works as a AoE ministun while Heavy Pressure is active.
[Visual]: Whenever the ability proccs, the ground will look deformed, as if the vision on that piece of land was blurred.

Heavy Pressure

Increasing the pressure for each of his shockwaves, damage dealt by Ancient Protector may stun for a short time whenever an enemy is hit.

Skill Mechanics: Whenever the Ancient Protector damages a unit with any damage source coming from him, the stun will procc.

[1] Heavy Pressure lasts for 4 seconds. Procced stuns last for 0.3 seconds.
[2] Heavy Pressure lasts for 5 seconds. Procced stuns last for 0.4 seconds.
[3] Heavy Pressure lasts for 6 seconds. Procced stuns last for 0.5 seconds.

Skill Type: Active, No Target
Effect Type: Superior Magic, Stun duration will be halved for magic immune units
Mana Cost: 100/150/200
Cooldown: 120/100/80

[Note]: Units controlled by the Ancient Protector won't procc this effect. A Mock of Brilliance also won't procc it (since a Mock constantly burns enemies, and doesn't damage in regular intervals). However, the cleave from a Runed Axe will also "cleave" the stun effect.
[Synergy]: With his AoE damaging abilities, this skill has the potential of working as an AoE stun for initiating.
[Visual]: Condensed spheres of white, clear sonic waves will be formed around the Ancient Protectors hands.
