This mod adds circles infront of SoulStealer that indicate the damage radius for the varius distances of demon hands.

The mod was created as a result of thread:

This mod is not Khaos' one, I believe the code for his was never released; however, I expect that this mod is identical so credit for the idea goes to him. The mod uses the Tower Range Indicator textures so credit goes to the creator of those for their use here.
I'm not going to go into whether I believe this mod is fair or not, the fact is that people are able to make it and use it privately if they wish, therefore it needs to be released publically for S2 to make a judgement on whether it should be banned or not.

Installation s2z: Put the resourcesDemonHandRange.s2z into "HeroesOfNewerth/game/" directory.

Yeah, I accidently deleted the s2z instead of the old honmod version and then somehow copied the wrong link for the new version. Links should be correct now.

Nice mod, I think it became a crutch but it will probably make my SS game tighter now that I have a better idea of how big the actual AOE is. I always thought it was as big as the hand animation, maybe a bit larger, but not that large.

I like this one :) although its known that the texture you're using is causing lag if displayed on one tower. I don't really like 3 times the effect of this.
With lag I actually mean performance loss.
vsynced idle steady 85fps -> idle steady 65fps.
Hmm, I don't experience the same performance drop, it has an effect of 1-2 frames for me.

None of us past 1700 and who play in BP need the indicator, so this helps newbs understand SS better. Its good in that sense, but i think it dumbs down the game a little since there's little to no effort needed now.
I'd like to see people who rely on this survive in a tourney though, as I believe mods aren't allowed there.

Yea I agree with this. An ingame hotkey to toggle it would be awesome if it's possible. Maybe you can ask for some help how to do it? Would be nice to have for all your range indicator thingies. (if you do things such as for CD etc).

lol, when I saw the tower range indicator, I tried to quickly create my own version of basically this. What I ended up with were little circles shooting out of SS himself, lol. I decided to google it up instead, and have found now a 3rd mod of ppl doing the same thing.
God bless you guys. But, what's funny is, just looking at the pick I don't feel like I need the mod anymore. Seeing the actual range is enough.
I think these types of things should be default, at the very least for practice mode.

The difficulty in landing demon hands isn't as much knowing the distance of each hands since you can pretty much get that estimation perfect by spamming it in one or two practice games. Rotating the hero correctly and knowing when and where to use the demon hands, I think, has more to do with the difficulty of using it.

Just a thing, that's not really bothering, more useful when you face a soul stealer, but I see the circles also in front of an enemy soul stealer (too bad for him when he tries to hide in forest :P)

The server doesn't send information you aren't supposed to have. Thus, you can't maphack with this, the mod wouldn't know where to put the circles. You can however make a not-very-conspicuous SS VERY conspicuous.
Also, those circles are huge compared to the animation, I didn't know there was an area that all 3 hands would hit.

Circles cant be shown, when you dont see Soulstealer, its like the Tower Range Circles, you need to have vision on him...

Still you'll see the circles on your screen when you actually won't see soulstealer on your screen (while you do see him on the minimap).

Yeah, thats what I meant, circles just can be drawn if ss is visible, not necessary on the screen, but his position can be checked by the client...

You can sometimes get a line of sight very near a hero who's jungling and you'll hear them attacking but won't see them on your minimap.

As far as i understand Demon hands the circles should have a diameter of 275 not a radius of 275. I'm pretty shure there is no area where u can hit a target with all 3 hands, only 2 areas where they overlap
The Cast range of the 3 Hands are 200/450/700.
The Area of Effect is 275.
So it should look like this

I tried this and tbh I found it more detrimental to gameplay as the circles waving around all the time were very distracting. Much easier to focus on things and actually land good hand hits without it.

Can someone explain to me why mods like these are allowed? Hell, apparently it allows you to see your enemies circles too, which is crossing the line.
Got the valk mod, which redid the buffs back down to nerfs.
Rampage charge song thing, which I was cool with but the pointer popped up on you when he charged you from any distance on the map.
And this. I can understand UI advantages or other small things, but really.

Cool your skivvies people. Try installing the mod. See how annoying it is for people who already know the ranges. Uninstall it. See how much better your hand placement is now. That is the only benefit of the mod.
While the mod is active it's a huge distraction for the user.

I would love if you add a (customisable) hotkey button to switch this mod on/off, cause for me at least its kinda anoying to see it all the time, i feel kinda weird, but when the action beggins and i need it for more precition then i can turn it on.

So, I have been away for several months. With the rate that patches are changing, I have given up with the version checking for all the mods I use myself; I suggest you do the same. To avoid version checking you may open the honmod with winRAR, open the mod.xml and edit the version line near to the top to reflect the current HoN version. Alternatively you can just open HoN, alt tab to the desktop and then open the mod manager, it will give a message saying version checking is disabled. With version checking gone you can activate any mod you want regardless of version, this doesn't mean that every old mod will work, but it is no different to simply changing the version in the xml.

You don't need updated links, the old Diablo UI works just fine. There is a line inside honmods that says what version they are written for, if it doesnt match the current patch version the modman wont let you apply it. This doesn't mean that the mods don't work. Just start hon, alt+tab back to desktop, open the modmanager, it will give a message saying version checking is disabled. Then you can activate any mod you like.

its not that hard to fix that lol..all uhave to do is edit the xml file so that the version sais just "*" instead of 0.21* or w.e then put it back into the honmod file...
use win rar/winzip to open a hon mod file btw....and extract xml...and when u wanan put back the xml u use the "add file" button ont he winrar/zip interface...
and umm always keep a coppy the original of ANY file ur gonna tweak so if u mess up ...ur original is right there..

If you know how to play Soulstealer, you'll find that this mod isn't that beneficial. This is because you pause for a split second to see if the enemy is lined up in the circle before you fire off your nuke whereas without the mod, you react instantly by pure instinct. Often, the enemy will get away because Soulstealer doesn't have a slow or stun and every moment counts.

im slowly begining to convert to range indicators instead of only ss range and a few others.
but i like how in this mod DemonHand range Circles, the circles are much more visible.
in Range indicators, Soulstealers circles are really weak. is there a way i can make them more visible?
