Pinging is when you Alt-Click to put a "ping" on the minimap and create a sound in order to grab your allies' attention.

Here are a list of things I think would contribute greatly to teamwork if implemented. None are gamebreaking in any way, and would help serve to increase teamplay and awareness, as well as snap judgment and communication.

1. Hotkey to jump camera to last ping location.
Already mentioned many times in multiple threads, but I felt it should be here as this is a bigger list.

2. Ping should be shown on the main screen.
Minimap pings are imprecise--you get a general location, but if they were shown on the main screen it'd be helpful. I'm not talking about a huge circular wave, but rather, a light, transluscent colored circle on the ground where you pinged that will slowly fade away. This would not impede with gameplay in any way.

3. You should be able to ping a unit or building.
If I'm ganking, and there's a small window of opportunity, I don't want to have to write out who I'm going to target; if I don't have a microphone, this is a great alternative. When you Alt-Click a hero, the hero should flash quickly so your allies know EXACTLY who you're going to target. This would remove a lot of confusion during ganks and teamfights. And if you're pushing, ping the melee barracks to signal to attack it. People tend to respond better to flashing colors than yelling teammates.

4. You should be able to draw lines on the map/minimap. (Xoo (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/member.php?u=114632))
Similar to a telestrator (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telestrator). Players that abuse it (ie., drawing wieners) can, like Ping abusers, be muted. An easy way to do it is to have Alt+Click n' Drag draw a line, while Alt+Click 'n Release puts out a Ping, while Alt+Right-Click will clear the minimap of drawn stuff in case the fade time is too slow.

Sounds good, also like to add that pings seem a little off at the moment. If I alt+click on Kongor, the ping on the minimap looks like it's down in the river. More of a bug than a suggestion though.

Agreed that this would help greatly, especially the last bit. Gets tiresome ganking the target that's obvious to you, and your ally chimes "I thought you'd go for the other." More ways to help people who think differently coordinate is thumbs up stuff

I think it would also be useful if you could draw lines on the mini map, similar to Guild Wars. I know this opens possibilities for abuse, but would also be much easier to coordinate attacks by being able to draw arrows and such.

And expanding on your third point, how about a target and assist system? So if you were to alt click an enemy hero, it would say in team chat "I'm targeting/attacking x!"

I saw a suggestion like this in another thread, and IMO it would be a really nice addition. Drawing lines would but great for adding a strategy element other than a "bumrush this area and kill things" mentality.

As for the assist system, it seems like a good idea. Alt clicking buildings or heroes and causing them to flash and pasting something in chat would be helpful. DotA was pretty basic, but there's no need for this game to skimp on features.

I agree with all these suggestions.

Signed. Especially drawing on the minimap. You could mute players on an individual basis if they were abusing it, and at the higher levels of play it could be extremely useful.

Being able to temporarily expand the size of the minimap may also be of benefit.

+1

Great ideas! Maybe a mini-windows for the pinged location would be nice as well.
