Yesterday I miraculously convinced 4 people I never met to pick push heroes and go for early push strat. Naturally, we stomped, and I was able to do it a second consecutive time with 4 new people!

Matches:

The second match did not go as smoothly. Our legionnaire got the wrong items and was always "just 100 gold away from an item" so we constantly had to wait for him to push and on occasion got ganked while waiting.

Anyway just pointing out that, at least in higher PSR pub games, it's possible to do a specific team strategy and it should ensure victory.

Well, some of my clanmates did won against pub in around 3 minutes with pushing strat some time ago.

Their lineup was Engineer, Defiler, Ophelia, Archer, and Wildsoul I think.

Then again, it was clan against pub.

What I'm actually wondering is, if you are playing say, BP, they pick their fourth and fifth hero as ophelia and defiler, and it becomes obvious they are going for a push strat, what do you do? Who do you pick as a fifth on your team to counter this?

I know the main thing is trying to deny as much as possible, try to have TP all the time, and don't die while defending towers - but even that way you give out 1800g to all of them for the 6 towers, if you don't manage to defend them.

So what's the best way to resist this "push strats"? Be it a scrim or a pug.

I'm mainly asking because we won two pushes in a row, and then terribly lost to one trying a different strat, while the lanes were quite owning (8:2 for us, then they pushed the first set of towers).

pick behemoth/kraken/tempest/magmus and be coordinated

Push strats probably are the strongest in pubs.

Where nobody carries TP or knows what a Push Strat is.

turtle with heroes like behemoth, kraken or something. Worked quite well when I tried. Also any form of AoE/global silence works, even *shudder* scout's eyes and vind's ult

I guess Behe is a good counter, esp. vs Ophelia-fueled over-9000 creep push. I dunno about Kraken - without blink or shrunken he can't really do much (he just gets disabled before he can ult).

But thanks!

Well Kraken can activate his ulti, and then just use his tsunami to charge in....kinda like a poor man's blink =D

Which results in a dead kraken against coordinated teams...

I thought this was about pubs.

The OP was. I didn't want to start a new thread on the same topic just talking about scrims....

You can auto-activate his ult so you aren't sitting in their team for an extra 3-4 seconds. If you saw that they are a push heavy team you should try and farm up that portal key in the laning phase.

you're too slow!

You always want to have a push heavy team vs. a single target attack hero team.
I recall a DotA AP game in which a broodmother had singlehandedly raxed her lane in 12 minutes.

Ridiculous much? Yes...and No. If you are foolish enough to choose a 5 man carry team, you honestly deserve to be raxed in that span of time.

you're too slow!

If you use tidal wave to go in with your ult, is it really too slow?

That, or you could just wait till you have 1-2 seconds left and then tidal wave in....
