First of all, those graphics are beautiful, I don't know wtf you're talking about. Second of all the story and the gameplay are great.
If you don't want to play it then it's your lose.

I reformatted and lost my key so now im boned but it was a one of a kind game while I could play it.

Makes Oblivion look like the dumb, spoilt younger brother.
Played it =p, only thing thats irritating about Bethesda games is that they concentrate way too much on npcs and immersion and not enough on their game's combat systems which sucks -_-...Like fallout wud be an amazing game if it had a combat system like counter strike same thing with oblivion.

Risen was a pretty good single player RPG, good combat system, a whole big ass island to explore, decent story too.
Postal 2 if you've never played it, friggin' awesome game. Its old but still really fun. Good to take out some aggression. Besides who doesn't wanna shoot up a mall with Gary Coleman!

If you like Diablo style dungeon games then I highly suggest Torchlight. I really liked it, but the only reason I didnt stick with it, is because its not multiplayer. Best of all you can try it for two hours without paying for it.

Torchlight was WAYYYYYYYYYY to repetitive for me, go to lvl 3 of this dungeon and kill this random guy, go to lvl 5 and get this random item, go to lvl 8 and kill this other guy. same things over and over. Was a fun game for about 45 minutes.

Thats actually well thought out, he wanted Fallout 3 with a better combat system, and STALKER is pretty much post-apoc fps with cs-like aiming and carp. And yes, the first one was awesome, it also had GREAT IMMERSION, but was very action packed as well, Shadow of Chernobyl or something like that.

Thirding the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-series. I'll also say that Clear Sky doesn't suck at all, even though it was buggy at the release as all S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-games seem to be. Unfortunately I haven't gotten my hands on Call of Pripyat yet as I'm waiting for Metro 2033. Planning to pick up latest S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-installment later.

Torchlight is a pretty cool Diablo clone. The storlyline is weak, and can be finished in about 6 hours, but it is heavily modifiable. If you want to check it out, I suggest downloading Torch Leech, the mods make the game a lot more fun.
Haha I've played all the stalker games except the latest one, its an excellent single player game. I love games that require skill is all, If it doesn't i just get bored 0_o
I mean i enjoyed The TES and Fallout series but i would enjoy it alot more if the battles actually werent completely depedant on your items/level instead of your aim/reaction(skill etc).
Dude, I got Mount&Blade and Farcry 2 these two games look sick. Btw im still open for awesome game suggestions apperntly theres alot of solid games i don't know about 0_o
BTW isnt risen just like a mediocore version of Oblivion or is there more to it then that, I just watched the trailer and it looks very similiar except older and maybe a little bit better combat system.

Yeah that would have been awesome for 1&2.
Anyway, welcome to rpg, not fps. Just because a game is made with a first person view doesnt mean its a fps. And yes, Fallout 3 would have been a lot more exciting, combat-wise, if it had been more intense and i wasnt happy with seeing VATS like that, just because the game was in first person.

Hey Jah.
I highly recommend Baldur's Gate II and Planescape: Torment.
The first is an old classic and my favourite game of all time; it's extremely well-written, it has a solid combat system, and it's very engaging. You control 6 characters, so some people find it to be slow-paced, but I really enjoy the tactical approach to combat.
The second is a little bit more fast-paced and less tactical, but it too is extremely well written. It's also fairly original in that the storyline is more philosophical than heroic.
If you want a more modern game, I'm currently trying out The Witcher, which I've heard is a similar to Dragon Age. There's also the Dragon Age expansion, which was just released today.

IMO, Half life 2 was best single player game ever, followed by Mass Effect 2/Dragon Age: Origins..

I couldn't get into far cry. driving around is boring and to find that there is a camp in between my destination is really annoying.
most guns seem unessisary; the only gun that looked practical was the silenced weapon(mp5 i think) but i did not even bother going that far in the game.
Loading time was a ***** and i hate that stupid drum beat and those stupid metaphors between loading screens.
diamond hunting was a little frustrating at times, and i am sick of "fetch quests" as they implemented those in bioshock..borderlands(subtle, but at least you are rewarded with a cool gun)..and many rpgs to progress the plot.

small/agile enemy = quick stance

I can use the TES Construction Set in case there is some issues. But most of the times the mods don't have compatibilities problems (I.e Midas Magic, Modular Oblivion Enhanced, Bananasplit Better Cities, The Lost Spires)

I heard that now there're some serious business mods improving the game quality to unknown levels, with specular light, ultra bump mapping, occlusion, godrays, self shadowing and tons of more new exciting stuff...I cannot wait to try it.

There have been a **** load of advancements, they know have this program called wyre bash that merges all your mods to make them compatible i also have like 20gb+ of mods for oblivion. That takes all the fun out of it tho huh =p, tbh the mods you get for oblivion is completely dependent on what kind of computer you have. There is this thing called FCOM which combines all of the major overhauls into one Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, Martigen's Monster Mod, Oblivion WarCry, and Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items. But if you don't have the right computer then it will make the game unstable. I try to minimize the amount of mods that i have to keep my game stable. Honestly my mod list is way too long to list them here but, go to http://www.tesnexus.com/ and go to the top mods, and look at each category and install the ones you want.

You should try Grim Fandango! It's old tho... released 1998? It's adventure / puzzle game. You should try it if you're into those games :)

Don't forget the original Monkey Island series as well. The classic games from LucasArts were amazing.
Adventure genre though. Not really RPG.

Oh yes, Monkey Island series. Great times.
Too bad that they won't make Grim Fandango 2...
I ordered Grim Fandango few days ago. I lost the discs from my previous game so I had to get new ones. :)

I made a thread for all this stuff

PS@Rasta: FCOM has been around for 2+ years now, I want some recent stuff :p

I think i tried baldur's gate II before - i felt gimped in the very first encounter :(
can anyone recommend some solid character class/build for playing through it? I couldnt finish Newerwinter Nights 2 because most of the lategame enemies were either undead or elemental and sneak attack doesn't do jack **** to them

Any of the X ; Total War is fun to play singleplayer(although i didnt play any of them for that long). Prepare to get your ass kicked if you try the harder versions of the campaign without knowing wtf to do. I like Rome and Medieval 2 the most.

Ehm, on my first complete baldur's gate 2 run (which is about 10 years ago lol) I had a crusader or paladin thingy. Worked fine. I thought you could turn the difficulty lower when you have a problem with a fight. You can also try reading a guide on gamefaqs for some (char creating) strategies.
But for real. Give it a try. I played both neverwinter nights and baldur's gate and baldur's gate 2 is by far better than nwn. And even ?f you disagree you will still find it to be awesome.

It's really not, though.
I swear, I don't understand the hype behind it. Yeah it's "Indie". Theres quotation marks there because it cost a metric shitton of money. Plus, you're automatically the bad guy for not liknig the game. Plus, if there is any game out that you could call pretentious, it's Braid.

I will definately admit you can call it pretentious.
Doesn't mean it isn't a wonderful game, and it's my recommendation that everybody should try it.
