Well, sadly I missed the fact that the deadline for the strength hero contest was already up *sigh* Anywho, hope you like the concept.
Adumbral Blade

N.B. These skills might be terribly imbalanced, I've stared myself dumb at them while working on her concept, and can't really seem to judge the balance myself anymore, hope you can help keep it in line :smile:





Shadow Infusion

The Adumbral Blade can infuse her shadowy essence into foes or allies.

Skill Type: Targeted Ally, Target Enemy
Range: 600
Mana Cost: 140/1600/180/200
Cooldown: 24 seconds

Target ally hero: Adumbral Blade loses half her current health and the target is healed for 30%/40%/50%/60% of the health lost. A maximum of 300/400/500/600 health can be healed in this way. Any hero healed for more than 400 health will be disarmed, perplexed and silenced for 3 seconds.

Target enemy hero: For 6/8/10/12 seconds target has -1/-2/-3/-4 armor and healing will gain 50%/60%/70%/80% less health from healing.

Notes: Alternatively, I think it might be cool to give the target a reduced sight range instead of the -armor.


Shadow Manipulation

Manipulating the shadows that flow from from her very being, the Adumbral Blade can call upon the shadows to ward herself or enhance her physical abilities.

Skill Type: Action Self
Range: None
Mana Cost: 40/50/60/70
Cooldown: 12 seconds


Warding Shadows

For 4/5/6/7 seconds Adumbral Blade has 75% chance to evade incoming physical attacks. Fog will not be updated in a 200 radius around Adumbral Blade unless an enemy hero comes within 500 range.


Assailing Shadows

For 4/5/6/7 seconds you attack 10%/17%/25%/33% faster and move 5%/10%/10%/15% faster but take 25%/20%/15%/10% extra damage.
Notes: This is a ?dual? skill, similar to Malikens sword skill. Evasion from Warding Shadows will not stack with any other form of evasion.
Infused Strike

The Adumbral Blade infuses her blade with the essence of shadows, granting her next blow the power to overpower the enemies guard.

Skill Type: Target Enemy
Range: 150
Mana Cost: 75/100/125/150
Cooldown: 14 Seconds

Deals 100/150/200/250 physical damage and stuns the target unit for 2 seconds.

Notes: Magic immune creatures will not be stunned, but will still take the extra damage of the empowered strike.

Adumbral Blades mastery of shadows grows; she discards her sword in favour of one fashioned from shadows made solid.

Skill Type: Magical Buff, Self
Range: None
Mana Cost: 80/100/120
Cooldown: 80/60/40s

For 6/8/10 seconds Adumbral Blades' strikes will daze those struck for 6 seconds. All spells a dazed hero attempts to cast will have a channeling time of 1 second. Any hero taking more than 200 damage while channeling a spell while under the effects of dazed, will cause their spell will be disrupted.

Notes: If a spell normally has a channeling time longer than 1 second, the spell will use the longer channeling time, but still be subject to the disruption if the damage criteria is met.
Feeling the name is a bit lame, maybe someone can come up with something better? :smile:

The shadows beneath target enemy burst to life, heeding the call of the Adumbral Blade and slowing the victim.

Skill Type: Magical, Target Enemy
Range: 600
Mana Cost: 80
Cooldown: 15s

Target is slowed by 30% for 2/3/4/5 seconds, if an enemy hero comes with 200 of the slowed target the tendrils spread out and both are snared for 20% for the remaining duration instead.


Shadow Halo

The Adumbral Blade summons a halo of shadow around an enemies head, obscuring their vision.

Skill Type: Magical, Target Enemy
Range: 400
Mana Cost: 40/50/60/70
Cooldown: 15/13/11/9s

Targets vision range is reduced by 200 and has a 20%/25%/30%/40% miss chance on physical attacks for 3/4/4/5 seconds.



Dark Oracle

Drawing upon her connection to the shadow world, the Adumbral Blade summons up a vision of a distant location.

Skill Type: Magical, Target Location
Range: 99999
Mana Cost: 200
Cooldown: 30s

After 7/6/5/4 seconds, reveals a portion of the map 300 range in diameter for six seconds. Invisible units are also revealed.

Notes: A swirl/vortex of shadows animation accompanies the spell, so any enemy heroes in the area will know they've been revealed.
The delay/small radius/cooldown/cost are intended to keep it from being a game breaking spot-all-incoming-ganks spell. Would allow Adumbral to counter-ward as well.

Shade Strength

Shadowstuff replaces weak flesh, enhancing the abilities of the Adumbral Blade.

Skill Type: Passive

2/3/4/5 armor and 5%/10%/15%/20% chance to absorb one incoming spell. If a spell is absorbed Shade Strength is disabled for 15 seconds.
Adumbral Blast

The Adumbral Blade manifests a blast of shadowy magic against her foes.

Skill Type: Magical, Target Location
Range: 1000
Mana Cost: 100
Cooldown: 18s

The blast travels in a straight line until it has reached its full range or impacts a hostile target. On impact all targets in 300 range are hit for 150/180/210/240 magical damage and slowed 15% for 4 seconds.

Notes: Blast travels at the same speed as Valkyrie arrow.
Word of Malice (ultimate)

The Adumbral Blade utters a single word of such foul nature it rends the fabric of existence. Shadow energy explodes into being where she wills it, blasting all those caught with malignant shadows that cling to the victims.

Skill Type: Magical, Target Location
Range: 700
Mana Cost: 250
Cooldown: 120/100/80s

All enemies in 600 range take 150 magical damage and are slowed for 20% for 4/6/8 seconds. Slowed enemies take 50 magical damage per second.

Character Appearance

Obviously similar to the image at the top of the page, except, her skin should be a dark grey/black hue, with tendrils of shadow snaking around her body.
Also, please no over-sized anime sword, and don't even get me started on the chain-mail-bikini syndrome..

Inspiration Notes
This character is inspired by the shades/shadovar from the Forgotten Realms if anyone recognizes it (above image is property of Wizards of the Coast). Continuing the a common trend on this board the skill icons are borrowed (recoloured) ones from Guild Wars (ArenaNet).

Other Thoughts
I realize a shadow-step (blink) type effect would be an obvious fit for this character concept. But I'm hesitant to give her one becasue I feel a large number of heroes have this ability already, and I dont think it should be over done. (Players will still be able to get a Portal Key if they feel the need). However if someone can come up with a skill combo for her that makes sense, by all means go for it.

Finally, I reckon a female strength hero is sorely missing, yes? :smile: Hope people like the concept, and can help me improve it, thanks for taking the time to look it over.

Two main things...

Shadow like with heal??? I didn't liked that... BUT, the concept about making sight smaller is nice, but already used on Dark Lady... Still, I liked this more than Dark Lady's ult...

Second, Swap first for third skill and makes True dmg... It will be cooler and deals some nice dmg... XD

To finish, could call her Penumbral Blade... Would be a nice word mix name...

I liked the overall of the concept.. Good job... T-Up...
