We need to help the noobs. What makes most sense imo would be to have a single player "tutorial" mode which would break down the basic game ideas like denying, items, hero skills, and you would get to play vs bots to test out your heroes as much as you want.

This will actually help For the true "noobs" (who are just that, NEW) out here who want to learn the game and not just lazy baddies who just want everything handed to them.

Or we can even have AI "comp stomp" games, 5 people vs 5 bots. That way you can learn about teamplay mechanics in games where stats aren't counted and there aren't like 3 "pros" lurking on the other team trying to pad their own.

I think they are planning a tutorial for once the game goes retail.

Something like a set of tests I would assume it would be a kind of separate mode with stuff like: last hit / deny tests, neutral creeping tests, map awareness tests, some hero tests with mini guides. And then have in game suggestions like dota does for some harder to play heroes.

AI is entirely too much work to implement, sadly. Every balance change has to be reflected in the AI so that is can act accordingly. However I do support some form of tutorial, although we may have to make a community map for it.

Are they really? Sorry I must have missed that thread. Is it a sticky somewhere?

And I agree the set of tests idea is pretty good. Kinda of like the "combo tests" in SF4. Helps builds up your skills and timing of last hitting.

Heck, a tutorial just explaining what last hitting/denying IS to a noob would be a huge step in the right direction.
