http://honwiki.net/w/images/2/2a/Behemothhero.gif (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Behemoth) Behemoth (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Behemoth) is a Stunner (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Hero_Classifications) and a Support (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Hero_Classifications) support hero. He really shines in team fights when he can use Portal Key (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Portal_Key) to blink into the middle of the enemy team and use Shockwave (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Behemoth) to wreck them. He can also use Fissure (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Behemoth) to stop heros from getting away or chasing by blocking a whole lane. By: Drasha

Skill Overview

Fissure With a mighty slam of his tree trunk, the Behemoth rips the earth apart, damaging and stunning enemies in front of him leaving an impassable mound of terrain. None 125/140/155/170 Ground, Direction, range 1200 15 seconds Deals 125/175/225/275 Magic damage to each target in a line and stuns them for 1/1.25/1.5/1.75 second(s). Leaves impassable mound of terrain for 8 seconds. 1200

Enrage The Behemoth unleashes his anger, causing his next attack to have increased damage. None 50 None 7 seconds Applies Enraged to self for 14 seconds or until your next attack. +50/100/150/200% damage.

http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/a/a8/Behemothskill3.gif/64px-Behemothskill3.gif (http://honwiki.net/wiki/File:Behemothskill3.gif)
Heavyweight Causes the Behemoth to shake the earth with each spell he casts, dealing damage and stunning nearby opponents. None Passive Passive None Deals 25/45/75/115 Magic damage and stuns for 0.3/0.7/1.2/1.5 seconds in 280 radius around self, each time Behemoth casts a spell.

http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/8/8e/Behemothskill4.gif/64px-Behemothskill4.gif (http://honwiki.net/wiki/File:Behemothskill4.gif)
Shockwave The Behemoth slams the ground with all his might, causing a devastating shockwave around him. The shockwave ricochets off nearby units, effectively increasing the damage dealt based on the number of nearby enemy units. None 145/205/265 None 150/130/110 seconds Deals 165/230/285 Magic damage to enemy units in a 500 radius around self. Deals 35/45/65 additional Magic damage for each additional enemy unit in the radius. Corpses of units are counted in calculating additional damage.

Fissure (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Behemoth) - Good for trapping people and hurting them in general.
Enrage (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Behemoth) - Not that good the short cool down works well with Heavyweight.
Heavyweight (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Behemoth) - Makes all of your spells stun people around you makes enrage worth casting
Shockwave (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Behemoth) - If done right this can kill an entire team

Skill Build
There are many ways to build behemoth i have listed the 3 most common ways to build him some being more common then others. You should go with the basic build if you have never played him before and want to get a good feel for what all of his abilitys do. The Advanced build focuses more on being skilled with fissure and making you do a lot more damage in team fights right when you get shockwave. The stats build is for roaming and works well with a bottle just there so you know its an option.

Basic

Basic is where you focus on fissure and level up Heavyweight after that. This build gives you a strong nuke that deals good damage and has a nice range its the best when your still getting a feel for the behemoth.

Advanced

The second focuses on leveling up Heavyweight first to give your self a good stun with enrage and more AoE damage with Shockwave. This build is for when you have got the hand of the behemoth and can use fissure to block heros from escaping.

Stats

Focuses stats and fissure over every thing else to make you a stronger presence early game but takes you more levels to do as much damage in team fights. Great if you have a bottle and are going to be roaming the map early to help get hero kills.

Total Cost = 925 Gold

Early Game

Here you see a split on what items you want depending on what you got at the start of the game. If you went Bottle (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Bottle) you want to buy the two Talisman of Exile (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Talisman_of_Exile) and the Marchers (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Marchers) then move on to your mid game items. If you went with the Pretenders Crown (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Pretenders_Crown) and consumables you want to grab the Fortified Bracelet (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Fortified_Bracelet), Marchers (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Marchers), and the Ring of Sorcery (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Ring_of_Sorcery). Over all going the bottle build is cheaper and gets you to your portal key faster but some games you just have the gold to burn and can grab the more expensive things.
http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/7/7d/Marchersitem.gif/64px-Marchersitem.gif (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Marchers) X1 = 500 Gold

Marchers

Fortified Bracelet
You're going to be a target so you need the health to live until you get your spells off. You should buy these if your going to buy a Ring of Sorcery (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Ring_of_Sorcery) later on. Made from Pretenders Crown (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Pretenders_Crown).

http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/b/b5/Talisman_of_Exileitem.gif/64px-Talisman_of_Exileitem.gif (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Talisman_of_Exile) X2 = 970 Gold

Talisman of Exile
If you grabbed a bottle early game your going to want these to give you the mana pool you need to cast all of your spells. Made from Pretenders Crown (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Pretenders_Crown).

http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/3/33/Ring_of_Sorceryitem.gif/64px-Ring_of_Sorceryitem.gif (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Ring_of_Sorcery) X1 = 1700 Gold

Ring of Sorcery
Gives you the mana pool you need to use fissure as a nuke. If you have a bottle don't buy this item unless your replacing the bottle with it most cases bottle gives you all the mana you need.

Total Cost = 3195 Gold

Mid Game

The only real item you need for midgame is the Portal Key (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Portal_Key). Once you've got that, upgrade your boots to Enhanced Marchers (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Enhanced_Marchers) or Post Haste (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Post_Haste).

http://honwiki.net/w/images/thumb/a/a8/Post_Hasteitem.gif/64px-Post_Hasteitem.gif (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Post_Haste) - 2700 Gold

Post Haste
Gives you a lot more map presences using them you can come to the aid of your team much faster and defend towers. It is also good to note that you can use this item with Shrunken Head (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Shrunken_Head) to teleport out of the middle of your enemies after ulting them just make sure you tp near by so you can help your team mop up. Get this OR Steamboots. (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Enhanced_Marchers)

Late Game

So you have your portal key and you are wondering now what can i buy the truth is you don't really need any more items and can just spend your gold on buy backs but thats no fun so lets get the gravy items.

Shrunken Head
Good for making sure you get your ultimate off. Magic immunity (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Magic_immunity) to make sure you don't get stunned or killed. Also great for an escape after jumping in the middle of the hornets nest.

Gameplay

First lets cover what fissure can be used for. Fissure works well as a ranged nuke you can use it to kill heroes who are running away if no one on your team can get to them. Fissure can be used to block of lanes trapping a hero on your side of the lane or on the other side so he can't hurt you or a fleeing hero. Fissure can be used as an 8 second hold if you trap a hero between it and the forest or a cliff with a hero blocking the only way out. Fissure is also good for breaking up the other team so your team can pick of every one on one side of the fissure while the other enemy heroes can't get to you? The second thing we need to talk about is how you use your ult since this will be the main factor in how good you are with behemoth? When you are looking at a group of enemy heros and wondering if you should blink in you need to ask your self some questions. One are their a lot of enemy creeps around their team to make your ult do as much damage as possible. Two how long before another wave of creeps get to where they are and is it worth waiting for them (creep waves spawn every 30 seconds). Three once you have blinked in what is the best direction to use your fissure to block an important member of their team from helping the weaker ones or preventing the soft heroes from getting away? Fourth what is your plan of escape once you have used all of your spells to chain stun them its always good to have one even if you are pretty sure they are all going to die after the first 4 seconds of combat. It is important to use all of your spells after Shockwave because you will do a lot of additional damage with heavyweight.

Early Game

You're pretty weak at the start of the game and you want to do your best to stay alive make sure you use Fissure (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Behemoth) defensively or to prevent them getting away from your teams gank. Your focus should be hanging around the creeps getting last-hits (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Last-hit) if its safe. Feel free to roam around the map to help other lanes get hero kills the is pretty effective if you picked the bottle as you starting item.

Mid Game

You should have your 2 bracers by now or your 2 talisman and be working towards a Portal Key (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Portal_Key). If you're having trouble getting gold in lane you can forest by using Enrage (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Behemoth) for aoe damage or you can switch lanes with some one else. Once you have your Portal Key (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Portal_Key) just look for groups of heroes who are bunched up blink in and use Shockwave (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Behemoth) as well as your other spells. It's a good idea to do this with allies near by to come in and kill them after you ult. Try to do it around as many creeps as possible to increase the damage. Also make sure you upgrade your boots to Enhanced Marchers (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Enhanced_Marchers) or Posthaste (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Posthaste); they both have their ups and downs. You can also grab your Ring of Sorcery (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Ring_of_Sorcery) to give you all the extra mana you need. The ring really makes it so you don't have to worry as much about mana and it's cheap. You can ignore the ring if your bottle provides enough mana regeneration.

Late Game

You're still pretty much just a giant cannon ball but you can start working on items to help you survive being hit by every thing the enemy has after you blink. Don't count out Shaman's Headdress (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Shaman%27s_Headdress) its a very good item to grab if the other team is nuke heavy. If you end up getting all of these items or you just feel like it grab a Restoration Stone (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Restoration_Stone) to double ult for the heck of it. Also buy wards know whats on the map is vary important even in pub games.

Wrap Up

Behemoth (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Behemoth) can be very hard to play but once you get good at using Fissure (http://honwiki.net/wiki/Behemoth) he becomes deadly. As always have fun with this hero and once you get the basics down; experiment. There is never only one way to play a hero well.

Hmm, I think you should go take stats earlier like Fissure stats Fissure stats Fissure shockwave because behemoth has very little mana early, and stunning enemies at close range for an extra 50 or so damage isnt really going to happen that early.

Thats what the 2 Pretender's Crowns are for and its building him around getting his ult you want to have Heavyweight when you start junping in to ult. Will try a game going for stats instead and see how it works.

A bottle can sort out mana problems for the early game. Behemoth needs to get Heavyweight skilled rather swiftly to really help him deal out team-melting damage.

A very solid guide, Drasha, keep up the good work! ^.^

I dunno, if you're laning against a melee and pop fissure when he goes in to last hit you can get a bit of free damage. Whether or not that's worthwhile to you is another matter.

I was insanely fed once, and rocked out with a refresher's on top of my shiva's.

I don't know if Shockwave here is like Echo Slam in DotA, where it detects the dead enemy corpses so it adds additional shockwaves?

It counts dead corpses by the way this guide has been updated for it to include more items and 2 different builds that i have had luck playing with. Also fixed some images no longer working right.

You might want to fix the Behemoth's Heart link. It currently sends you to Runes of Blight. Otherwise, nice job.

Why Enrage at level 4? Your ministun/damage at that point when Heavyweight is only at level 1 will be pretty pathetic (your normal attack would probably do more). Don't tell me you need to cancel your enemies' TP or their channeling spells with that...

2x Talismans of Exile + Bottle for when you can't afford to purchase Ring of Sorcery (and if you're roaming early game).

You have to put a point into the spell at one point why not at level 4 if your being chased the stun will be helpful if you don't have the mana for a fissure. 2 talismans of exile and a bottle is about the same price as a ring and the ring is a much better item.

I guess....I've always gotten 1 point in Enrage (Enchant Totem) in DotA after 3 levels of Heavyweight (Aftershock) because the stun from Enrage actually becomes useful (approximately 1 second stun when Heavyweight is level 3), but whatever works for you. Never seen Enrage being so useful at level 4 before

All ring does is allow you to spam Fissure, really. If you're in a higher level of play, farming Ring will be pretty difficult, but getting Bottle + 2 Talismans gives you the early roaming power. It's all up to the situation

Same, I'll go with Enrage after 3 levels of aftershock which is at level 9? I would never stop leveling Fissure for a couple levels of Heavyweight. The damage is neat and is quite spammable if you had a bottle while rune controlling with a bird.

I always have damage output problems with this guy.

Its like ok, I have port key, RoC, some bracers, whatever, now what? My fissures and ults seem to fall short. Its like ok I've manage to stun/trap a person now I go in an auto-attack of 80ish (maybe get an enrage hit in oooo wow 160 damage! once!)? It just doesn't work out. Also when I build for portal key/roc/typical "recommended" build, I have like 1200-1300 health midgame. Which is ****ing laughable.

What am I doing wrong, please help.

You're not doing anything wrong, Behemoth is an initiator and an AoE stunner. Your teammates are supposed to followup after you blinked into the battle and use all your spells.

Aka you're not a solo-ganker hero

Practice, my love.

You are not meant to get creepkills. All you need to do is portal in, and hit all your spells (ulti first) from right inside the center of attention. Then your job is done. You may die and go make a sammich while the team mops up the left-overs of the enemy.

EDIT to clarify: During a 5on5 defense/offense, teleport right into the enemy team and hit ulti immediately, followed by Enrange and Fissure (try to land fissure in a way that does not block your team). You'll stun everyone 3 times and do insane AoE with your ultimate. The more people you catch the better. This is how you open, and win fights.

Don't try to carry, please. It is not in the nature of the beast! If you want to be a carry-initiator, play Magmus or Soulstealer.

Your item build should never include health boosting items because you should never be taking a tanking role. blink in, ult, stun and get the f*** out. a tanking behemoth is doing it wrong. also, you mentioned nothing on fissure blocking, which is what makes behemoth good. when i finish my guide on this hero take a look.

Not a very good item build. He's STR, he has enough HP, what he needs is mana. Talismans, Bottle, Marchers, Portal Key, that's his core. He does not have enough mana to support a refresher orb until extremely late in the game. Then you get Enhanced Marchers, Totem/Frostfield, and by then the game ought to be over.

Just because Behemoth is STR doesn't mean he's set for HP...have you seen his stats and growths? Bracers > Nulls if you're doing well (farm-wise).

Tapioka
08-30-2009, 02:09 PM
I think 3x bracers are over the line. Buy 2 if you are getting the Ring for mana. Build 2 Int if you take the bottle. I really recommend the bottle. You can cause heavy trouble if you roam a little bit. Cut of creap waves or heroes to help destroying towers or initiate fights.
Restoration Stone is nice and behemoths hearts is welcome. But I usualy buy a shrunken head or a nullstone, depending on the enemies.

Turn on your shrunken head, blink in, ulti, fissure, enrage and try to escape with enhanced marchers.
3k hp are worthless if you are stunned, silenced... and cannot use your skills and you die.

A lot of people buy some good things but play him terribly wrong. Sometimes i think they dont realise, that fissure and enrage trigger heavyweight and you can deal an incredible amount of damage if you are standing next to someone. "Ultimate and run" is the common scenario~

Some "playing advice" would be nice in this guide. Like "how to fissure" and some pictures. Behemoth needs a portal key and you can "do your job". But if you dont know how to do this, the best items wont help.

[For the fun: Buy assasins-shrout, a flayer and a shieldbreaker. Incredible fun if you got lucky and the crit proc with enrage]

Rush Ring of Sorcery > rush Portal Key > Win the game.

Both of the above should go before everything else, that includes boots. That will give the team the best engager in the game. Before that he's pretty much useless.

A bottle and 2 talisman build only costs 1470g to ring of sorcery which costs 1700g on top of that you can build the parts of talisman in small increments so it helps more at the start of the game compared to saving 1k to buy a brain. I suggest you try the bottle build i was skeptical until i tried it. The Ring of Sorcery > portal key is a fine build if no one is going to bother you while you farm and you are not going to try to gank any one but its harder to pull of when the other team is targeting you to prevent you from farming.

Portal key is 2150 gold while Assassin's Shroud is 3400 gold. You end up spending 1250 more gold for +38 damage and +10 Attack speed and can be countered by any thing the reveals invisibility. The additional damage and attack speed are pretty useless for him since he does his damage with spells not his attack. I am not saying your wrong to do it this way i am just listing how it all works out for any one else who might want to know the pros and cons of the shroud vs portal key.

true, but shroud has alot of other situational pros too
and I usually consider making pushing build with shroud, RA, PH..
^^ very effective IMO.

and man they aren't gonna get invisibility revealing items most of times unless u have a stealth hero on your team.

Pushing lanes is easy just fissure into them then if you have a portal key blink into the middle of the creeps and enrage they fall over like twigs. The only part about it thats hard is having the mana to do it and still be useful.

As for them buying invis revealing items it just takes you genociding their team once or twice before some one ponys up for an eye and you can't do it until you get the eye of of him.

I could see using shroud in a experimental build the uses enrage for crazy damage would be some thing like assassin shroud rift shard runed ax. Would be interesting to see how it would work but i would only want to try to build that many items on him in an em game.

Yea well it's hard to rush shroud but well..
also if you have RA, all u gotta do is enrage once and single hit the creeps and they are all dead = less mana for pushing.
+ u have the mana regen that helps ^^

I would rather uses level 1 enrage and fissure then max out enrage and buy a runed ax. I do now have the itch to play behemoth as a carry thanks a lot i will report back once i have owned an entire team with a runed ax 5 doom bringers enrage level 4 combo.

Not that good a guide.. Hate noobs who get arcane and wait with getting dagger until mid/late... Without dagger you easy feed your opponents...

There are 2 diffrent item builds in this guide one is ring of sorcery then a portal key the other is 2 talisman bottle then a portal key. Having a ring of sorcery does not make you feed the other team being bad makes you feed the other team. The ring is a great choice if you are in easy lane where they can't harass you to prevent you from getting last hits.

A ring has the bonus of helping out other casters on your team giving you good mana regeneration and a large mana pool all in one item.

Since you are such a great player i wonder if you could give me your suggested item build since mine is so fail.

Thanks for the guide man behemoth is a really cool hero for this game and i like the way you have to play its very creative although i dont quite get his role in the team at first i though it was a tank but no he has horrible Armor and HP, i think ill play him more often now.

Behemoths role as always is killing any thing that gets close to him he has just changed from just needing one attack to send you flying across the map to needing a portal key and a bit of aim to send the entire other team to oblivion.

With the recent changes to Nymphora's skill, she makes an excellent lane partner for Behemoth. You can cast Fissure as soon as it is off cooldown damn near indefinitely. It is a ridiculously good combo, constant harassment from up to 1200 range, makes it really frustrating for the opposition trying to get last hits and denies.

NICE.

there are too many dota players and not enough savage players around HoN.
