SUPERIOR BOTTLE
******************

The Intro

Sensing a change to the meta-game in the addition of more roamer and ganker style heroes I decided to address one of the annoyances I personally have with playing this role which is The Scalability of The Bottle.
Sure, bottle is a sick-as-nuts-helpful-handy-helper at the start game. You get it, and suddenly the world of spam-fest is open for your enjoyment. Chuck a ward at a rune spot and enjoy almost perma-bottle-refills allowing you to live in the HoN dream; ganking, ganking, and ganking some more without a care in the world (of newerth). But then a dark nightmare cloud comes into your game...........

The Dark Cloud

You start maxing out the level of your abilities and suddenly that super cheap stun/nuke combo starts getting very less super cheap. You go "oh hooray i have level two silver bullet ima go own me som... IT COSTS HOW MUCH?! FFFFUUUUUUU!". Bottle starts getting less useful.

Your carry starts needing the runes and/or 3 of your teammates decide that "hell yeah, i want a bottle and rune whore too". Suddenly the only refills your getting are from hungry jacks as you compete with 3 other teammates, not even to mention ENEMIES.

You get to mid-late game and suddenly realize 6 slots is not that much when you already need wards, marchers of some type and homecoming stones for ganks/defense, not to mention any hp or regeneration items. Suddenly that regen from bottle seems very, very, very VERY inadequate and after a period of stubborn loyalty finally the flames of your teammates ("FFS!! WE NEED A HEX/PURGE/BARRIER/ASTRO/MINIONS/ETC!!!!!!!!) gets through and, with a tear in your eye, you bid adieu to your faithful, yet now redundant :bottle:

Hopefully, if this suggestion is successful it will introduce SCALABILITY that will see that trusty old jug own a spot in many late game item slots. :)

Item:

Superior Bottle

Recipe Cost:

800

Gives:

+3 all stats

+5 movement speed PER CHARGE

+25 hp/mana per charge in bottle

Rune Grab Pro (passive)

Assistance Deluxe (passive)

The bonuses detailed here are not overwhelming as I believe it's best in the interest of balance to have a series of small advantages that one large that may even be too situation to help. The main advantage from SB will be in the passive abilities.

Rune Grab Pro:

The holder of SB may possess runes (same as normal bottle) at a range of 100.

This gives a small (read: small) advantage to the SB bearer, I don't foresee this being game breaking but nonetheless there are a few situations where it could definitely give a small edge.

Assistance Deluxe:

On obtaining a kill the SB will refill to it's max capacity.

On obtaining an assist the SB will refill 2 charges.

This is one of the biggest advantages SB gives and the reason for it's slightly higher priced recipe cost (that what might be expected). I like how this creates a conumdrum for the player. On one hand, they would like to gain as many charges as possible from a potential gank and so would want to regen as much as possible before killing the enemy hero. However, using charges decreases the bonus movement speed and hence might hinder the kill, creating no charges. It will be up to the player to use the charges responsibly and decide exactly how much mana/hp versus move-speed he will need for the upcoming battle.

************************************************** *
Still making changes, refining things but please let me know what you think of the initial idea. :)
I just wanted to make bottle more scalable and to promote ganking a little bit more.

I think there definitely needs to be some kind of Bottle upgrade, I don't know whether auto-filling is the answer.

I think maybe having some way to buy a recipe to increase the health/mana per second that the bottle gives, or that simply increases the maximum charges of the bottle (buy another bottle, you get level 2 bottle with 4 charges etc.)

I must say this is quite good ... and I'm thinking of a bottle upgrade idea as well now :D

thanks for the comments, yeah the main motivation behind it was that I really think bottle needs to have some sort of direction to go late game.

it just doesn't seem like it's worth keeping a slot for atm.

though I understand what you're saying about instead increasing the regen/amount of charges this still leaves a problem.:

By the time you get to late game, rune control is normally a more complicated affair. Everybody is constantly roaming/ganking and normally at least one other person on your team also buys a bottle. this makes it very very difficult to nab the runes and even on the odd occasion you find yourself next to one, there will be many occasions where it's better to give to your carry or a hurt teammate.

I wanted to create an item that had some standalone sustainability for later roaming and team-fights. Remember that the bottle can only be filled to max and dispels on attack, hence I feel this will be difficult to abuse in team fights or the like.

on an additional note, i will be making changes and refining the idea properly once my uni schedule allows me some leeway :P

so please withhold your T-down shenanigans until you see the completed item. :)

The bottle itself is already a very powerful item and with a crow ferring it to the fountain and back between runes its pretty crazy as it as. I just dont think it needs a buff.

Note: Your idea and concepts are good though, and your suggestion doesnt make it broken, so im witholding my vote for the moment

It's not a buff at all, its a potential upgrade. The original bottle would still be as it is. this is just like another item a bottle can go into. Surely late game you can see how the charges of 135 hp and 75 mana would become slightly redundant. It's a simple scalability question.

I understand your concern about how easy it is to ferry the bottle with the crow but that ties into my reasoning that as it gets later in the game EVERYONE is ferrying stuff with the crow and EVERYONE wants to get the runes. It makes the usage of the bottle less effective.

If you feel like the bottle would become too powerful then that is simply a balance decision. I feel like the 800 gold recipe cost is enough for the advantage given but I can respect if you don't and just urge you to comment on the numbers you would need to see to make this item balanced and vote according to your liking of the CONCEPT.

Thanks for the feedback.
