A quick (well... 2h quick) edit, to make the original dota heroes, items and spells to show up with their original names. Verbose descriptions, new heroes and everything else left as in english version.
Consult the sticky thread, if you don't know how to use these files.
EDIT: Fixed the MoM & Satanic mixup, as well as Leshrac's name
EDIT2: Fixed another mixup (butterfly vs eaglehorn) and hosted on mediafire, as quaq suggested.
EDIT3: Fixed quarterstaff spelling (thanks to kamishiro for noticing)
EDIT4: Updated to the new version (includes Sand King). Took the liberty of using mvdv25's package.
EDIT5: Updated to the new version (with Bane Elemental and Queen of Pain), fixed some missing lines from previous versions and renamed Ironwood branch properly.
EDIT6: Update to the new version (with Vengeful Spirit)
EDIT7: Major update - basically rechecked all the files entirely.
EDIT8: Finally got things up to date - the last heroes, tweaks and all. Note, that with all the updates, the package might not actually be true to DotA.
I make it primarily for my personal use and thus don't bother to check how DotA itself progresses. E.g. i don't know what bloodstone does in DotA right now, so what is called bloodstone in the package might not be the actual bloodstone anymore.
EDIT9: Another update - with Spectre
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?yoojn1d3mj3
For reasons as of yet unknown, if you exit the game with this language active and then enter again, all labels will be missing. In this case, just switch to English and then back to DotA.
InvalidCola may have found a solution to this:
I think I found a way to fix that problem.. I just made a ressources001.s2z with the entities_en.str in a subfolder inside, and with the dota translation, so now when I start the game in english mode I have the dota translations and the menu looks fine, etc...

Note that this is a very slapped together version - there can be mistakes and misspellings.
E.g. I just noticed that i've what i have named Satanic is actually MoM.
EDIT: Fixed and updated link in first post.

Could you just have the DotA names in parentheses? There are people who didn't play DotA (like me), and it's best if people eventually learn the HoN names.

I'd like one just for the items, I could care less about the heroes and spells.

IAmRoot, that's not the point.
I firmly believe that changing the names should not have been done in the first place and therefore the HoN names for DotA content should not be used at all - therefore it is best if people don't learn the HoN names.
Also, the HoN names are generally rather primitively cliched, unimaginative and pompous and generally a flaw in an awesome game that otherwise has improved on DotA in almost everything.
I can't change the developers' decisions or impress my opinion upon everyone, but this is intended to offer an option to those who think like me or just prefer the original names for any other reason.

Newerth has it's own set of lore from two previous games, and now HoN. Blizzard also has copyrights on some. There are people who are new or haven't played DotA who will be confused if nobody knows how to translate to the HoN names.

I couldn't care less about the lore and any previous games. Blizzard doesn't own copyrights to content that was introduced in DotA. People who are new or haven't played DotA will not be any more confused by the situation where some use DotA names and some use HoN names, than by the essentially similar situation where some use English and some use German, French, Chinese or whatever other language.
I am not saying everyone must do things my way. I'm just saying that I'm going to use the original names and anyone who likes, can use the edited language files to do the same.
For me, HoN is and always will be nothing other than DotA with upgrades. The lore is thus irrelevant (as is DotA lore, actually) and it boils down to not using 2 names for the same thing.

Just make sure people can also look up what the HoN name is. If they're trying to give a new player tips, for example, or are playing with someone who has transitioned and the other player is using the HoN names, they should be in there.
To OP, learn to upload, please. Upload it to mediafire.com please or at least ot collector account on RS.

This is a "translation" that just changes names back to what they were in DotA, right? I don't really see the problem, IAmRoot. It's not like someone who has never played DotA before will pick this up (maybe they will because of curiosity, but outside of that, there's no reason why they would even consider it).
The parantheses would be pointless.

I never played dota, so if someone uses a dota name, I don't know what they're talking about. I would just prefer if you could see both names. HoN will also diverge from dota as time goes on.

Oh, guys, if you want to see DotA names - play DotA, not HoN - cause i think the game was created with idea as something new, and now you are all trying to make it SAME as dota - just with better graphics. Play at least 100 games and you will get used to the names.

Of course it will, making this eventually obsolete. Meanwhile, it's nice to have for people who care. I can see where you're coming from, but it's an unnecessary change.
Wow. Some people just can't accept change.
(wish you'd stick to DotA if you love it so much.)

Sorry, I didn't know rapidshare has a download limit. Will upload somewhere else when I get home (like 10h from now prolly).
As for those who claim that I can't accept change - its not actual change if they only changed the name. Like I said - its all about not having 2 names for one thing. And no, switching to HoN names is not the best option because the DotA names where there first.
When HoN has no more DotA content in it, this will be truly obsolete. But while DotA content is there it doesn't qualify as new (Introus) or change (Vadi).

bugs found thus far:
Eaglehorn and Butterfly names are swapped.
Butterfly is what you get after combining Eaglehorn, Quarterstaff, and recipe.
Quarterstaff is misspelled.
Will append more to the list as I use this more.
THANKS A LOT for this patch though, it made my life so much easier swapping over from DotA to HoN.
Keep up the awesome work!! ^^;

cool mod (gonna change it myself to have both dota and hon names though)
did anyone have the problem that when you start HoN, and this dota translation is enabled, all the text on the buttons in the menu is missing?! You can fix it by switching to english and then back to dota translation again, but that's annoying to have to do evreytime you want to play :s
If anyone found a way to fix this please let me know :)

I think I found a way to fix that problem.. I just made a ressources001.s2z with the entities_en.str in a subfolder inside, and with the dota translation, so now when I start the game in english mode I have the dota translations and the menu looks fine, etc... I dunno if I was the only on with this problem, maybe I was doing something wrong?
If anyone is interrrested I can upload the file once I'm finished changing it so it shows both HoN and dota hero/skill names ..

I am not against copying most of DotA's content, but if you do it is simply ridiculous to change the names of the copied contents (items/heroes/abilities). In this matter I fully agree with Grims and I'm sure most HoN players with DotA background do. Yes, HoN is great, but this really sets me up. It simply lacks of any sense.
