Hey guys I was wondering something...
At this time the account level is kinda useless and don't realy give any satisfaction to the player...

Here is my idea :
Create a sublevel system for each hero (this is complicated and I hope u can undesrtand what I mean..)

each level of you account gives u 2 points (for example), and u can spend these points on ur favorite heroes... for example if u reach 10 points for the legionnaire, u get a new armor for this hero.. BUT JUST THE VISUAL, the stats of the hero won't (musn't) be changed...

I know it's a lot of work since u need to create different armors for each hero but I think it could be realy cool and I know S2Games can do it because they managed to make different armors for Savage 2 (their other game) characters... maybe for an extension or something later after the game's release :p

Sorry for my english

Good idea but not applicable, just do something like wc3 did with the Profile picture beeing/could be changed upon reaching level x

Never played WC3 but yeah the point here is that the global level must be rewarding without giving any advantage to older players.
Come on guys, I'm sure we gonna come up with an awesome idea :p

The problem with different possible visuals for the same hero is the obvious confusion that it'd cause.

I'm in favor of a reward system of the sorts, but I'm really not sure what to suggest - and hence I haven't posted a new thread on the matter yet. Maybe I'll find a good idea in my way to find my own and adere to it. This won't be the case here though.

An incentive to PIMP out your favorite char?
Why not?

PimpMyHero;

I appreciate the idea; but I'd rarther time was spent adding content/heroes/items/balancing then adding additional artwork just for pimping.

That said I love the way Wc3 handled this with chat avatars :)

What about simple stuff like changing colour of in-game name, forum name, forum avatars, extra chat privileges, I dunno : (

I like that point system idea. You choose which hero you want to upgrade every time you level, and then you get some extra detail on the hero. Legionaire get some spikes on his armor, Behemoth gets a new weapon, etc.

Just little aesthetic details that make them look better without making them harder to recognize. And of course without affecting the actual gameplay.

It worked in Dawn of War 2!

The problem is you need to be able to identify all heroes instantly when you see them, even little subtleties can change this.

Altright using behe as an example and wilding a diferent kind of tree wouldn't really make much difference but it goes back to identifcation in the end :(

I don't see why not... In DoW2 you had tons of different troops with different decoration and colour, and believe me different ork/nid units can look very similar; yet it never became hard to see who's who.

And in HoN you only have 5 heroes per game, and you get to see which ones before the game even starts...

Of course it would be a lot of work for the modelers and textures, which are probably working on making new heroes. But it could be done.

A little line under your username (like on the Battle.net forums) for people who browse the forums, and maybe a username color-change in game.

I don't know if the latter is possible though. I know I have seen games with color names, so I'm assuming the engine used to run HoN would be able to be altered to change username colors.

OMG THE THING THAT LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE LESHRAC HAS SPIKES SO IT MUST NOT BE LESHRAC!!!

...Aggys in Dota causes graphical changes to certain heroes and you'd have to be retarded to think that heroes using it are completely different heroes. The developers can definitely make slight graphical changes to heroes without changing the overall look. This is definitely a great idea to integrate into the final game and I would love to see some use of your overall account's level.

Adding unlockables just further encourages stat whoring. You'll butcher the community, leaving only those with pimp armor.
