pretty easy to get a metallic rhino going, robot would be a little harder, but of course unicorn we need a good modeler up in here.

Just downloaded blender for the first time in years (Wasnt very good with it when i was 12 :P) just reminded myself of how to use it and will try make a unicorn model later after i get back from the gym and then after learn to animate. :) wish me luck it'll probably turn out hilarious.

Ok made a horse shape (Tis not bad seeing as its been 7 years). But have a problem when i render the object it seems i have another object which i have hidden (Was having problems and smashing keyboard :P) and now i cant find it im gonna post some screen shots to show you what i mean.

Ok I sorted it out :D Alt+H ftw. Anyways ive added a horn now and im wondering whether to make the mane and tail solid or to make it look like hair (would you even see it I wonder?) im thinking solid so I can make it wave about and it would look good with the rainbow I suppose. I may need help texturing it when its finished to make it look better i can texture but im not great. Gonna finish the model tomorrow hopefully so any comments on this would be nice, I gotz lots of tweaking to do tomorrow :( and then I have to learn to animate it ^^.

All of the hair in HoN is solid.
You wouldnt really be able to see the hair that well from default zoom level.
Besides it fits in HoN better if its solid.

Have you tried loading the game in Firefox or Internet Explorer? I know it doesn't work for me in chrome, but it does in the 2 I mentioned.

Ok ive been busy so not done anything over the past few days I just added the mane and tail and im gonna try and make a sketch of the unicorn on the game because the games unicorn is too small for me to use as it is will update you with more later.



Edit: Ok my sketch is helping :D but while trying to distinguish all the pieces of... Lets call it armor, it turned into a big mess so its going to be hard. I think what im going to have to do is make another mesh over my current one to show it all off I just hope it dont make it look like a fat pony :P.

Maybe the tail/mane could use a separate material (similar to andromeda's) to cycle the rainbow colors. Theli would know how to do that.

Also, although he would look most similar to rampage, it might be better to replace another hero with a short dash skill like Dark Lady or Magmus (I can just imagine his ultimate, rearing up on his hind legs with his horn glowing during the channel, then stomping back down as the rainbow waves start pulsing).

Rampage isn't a horrible fit either though.

Ok im trying a different route (which is working atm) I have deleted a fair bit of my old model and am replacing it with the pieces of armor and redoing the legs gonna go over the head tomorrow.

I got one question if i use mirror to mirror the legs when it comes round to animating it will i be able to animate them seprately or will they be mirrors still? (Using blender)

DL could be good for applying the model too as well, the charge would be freaking EPIC, but...as for the ult and stuff...notsomuch.

Making the bash go into a dash could be funky too...but there's been talk of making his "horned strike" into more of a "gore" where you follow along...so you could make it work there maybe next patch or something o.O. As for the charge, it just works perfectly. We just need the song to start playing as soon as you charge ^_^

OOH, what if we just added on the dash-charge as soon as you ulted? You'd delay a second, then you'd show a dash animation coming from the direction behind where rampage pops out, making a knockback effect.

Dont worry I have not stopped working on it but you have to remember im an amatuer at this and it will take time which I dont always have. its not THAT hard in blender after you rigged your character

once you have the model rigged simple animations are,well, simple, eg:
for a simple walk cycle you define several key poses of the cycle and blender automagically interpolates bone transformations between them

i suggest you look at (they are all humanoid though) walk cycle tutorials like http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:Tutorials/Animation/BSoD/Character_Animation/2-second_animation
to get a basic idea of creating actions in blender
(thats a series of tutorials and it also contains one on rigging the character)
and then start with walk cycle for your uni...
for a cool galloping horse walk cycle you need to define such key steps:

So I really hate to bring this up, (And I mean REALLY hate to) because I want this mod hardcore.

But your model will not work for this game for a few big reasons. (not that it doesn't look good =P)

1. HIGH POLLY, this model from looking at its surface structure looks RIDICULOUSLY high poly for HoN and would cause issues in game with lag.

2. Triangles, Your surface is not smooth and will have issues with animation due to large amounts of triangles composing him. When modeling you will 90% of the time want to work in Quads.

3. Texturing, since the surface isn't smooth due to the use of so many triangles it may seem a bit awkward when you try to skin him.

Like I said great work on the model, but for this game it just doesn't seem like it would work.

Even if it doesn't support quads (which would be weird imo but w/e) the triangles that S2 uses are all based on quad and then subdivided (look at there Savage2 models). this model doesn't seem to have the same topology as theirs and I am just afraid it may be a little bizarre to animate. (also looking at it again it may not be as high poly as i was thinking but it still seems to be pushing it. is there any way you could post your poly count =P)
