Elixir of Speed (Qt. 2)
Cost: 75g
Cool Down: 30 seconds
Cast time: 1 second
Self-targeting
Increases hero's movement speed by 30 for 15 seconds. Dispels when hero auto-attacks, casts, or receives damage.
Notes: I thought that it would be a nice item that could fit well in this game, especially early game. The general goal of having this item is:
1) To have a cheap way to obtain a larger degree of map control/rune control.
2) An alternative means of roaming instead of paying 500g for boots, or 135g for a tp.
3) A way to go to areas that are not accessible via homecoming stone, like runes, secret shop, etc ...
4) Add a new tactic in gank/escape scenarios.
I am sure everyone can think of all of the different aspects of HoN my elixir could improve.
Changes:
05MAY10
-Removed the stock cooldown.
-Elixir of Speed now has a cast time of 1 second.
-Elixir of Speed can now only be cast on self (ex. bottle).

yeah sure, there's not many items that affect movespeed
the only thing is i wouldn't want to spend 50g for burst movement personally
so is it +50 movespeed forever until you attack/ w/e?
that might be good...

No, i am sorry, i overlooked that, lol. It will be for 15 seconds. Numbers are not final, i need more opinions on the item before i make some changes for balancing. I might stack two for 50g, and decrease the ms a bit... need to think on it a bit.

There we go, this is good for Roamers without being way too good.
I'll vote for this.

i like the concept itself, but i think both the stock cooldown and the cost should be changed (maybe a bit less cooldown? since you're basically only using it in the early game, and maybe a bit more cost, like 75 or even 100 (it's 2 uses), since it really helps in chasing / escaping).
oh, if you have the time,
Check out my hero (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?t=86903)! ^^

I Really like the idea, this will help mapcontrol and ganking a lot early game, but i dont see the point limiting the item to only one person at a time. It clearly isn't too op if it dispels when/if you get attacked.

Hon already has this problem with everyone having way to much god damn move speed. I really would not like a simple 50 gold pot that makes my ganks that much harder to pull off and my escapes that much less epic. Sorry =[
just not needed
really
there is absolute no need in this item
if you are looking for move speed early get regular move speed boots+all the upgrades
late game if your looking for survivability you can make shroud/key

I don't think it should be targetable. It's an elixir, a drink in a bottle, so that doesn't really make sense to target someone else. Are you forcing it down their throat or someting?
Also, just Alt+Qing or whatever button would be so much faster.
Think of the Bottle.

I really don't know how this would turn out in-game, I'm gonna vote yes anyway as the concept is solid.

I explained the reasoning behind this item in my original post. This item is for ganking/roaming heroes to buy for better map control early game without having to spend a whopping 500g for marchers, or 135g for tp's (which cost them mana as well as inconveniencing them when trying to set up a gank).
I Really like the idea, this will help mapcontrol and ganking a lot early game, but i dont see the point limiting the item to only one person at a time. It clearly isn't too op if it dispels when/if you get attacked.
The reason i put a limit on the item is so that the entire team doesnt each buy one to evade ganks, like Syrdust said.
Hon already has this problem with everyone having way to much god damn move speed. I really would not like a simple 50 gold pot that makes my ganks that much harder to pull off and my escapes that much less epic. Sorry =[
There will be a restock timer, much like the wards, so that only one person will have those potions.

An item like this is just what roamers need. I support the general idea. However, it needs some serious balance consideration.
-Cannot be used for X amount of seconds after taking damage, like portal key works.
-Dispels on damage.
-Dispels when you attack/cast/use certain items/
-Give it a cast time, that would balance it perfectly imo. Can't use it for escapes as easily.
Thumbs up, hope you like the ideas I gave you. I don't really like the idea of a consumable having a limit like wards do.

I like THE idea but it can easely be abused. Lets say Your a ranged Hero chasing some1with low hp. With The +MS you can walk infront of him and start pwning him

I really appreciate the feedback, you bring up some great points, even though i said in the OP that it will be dispelled when the hero attacks, casts, or receives any damage. Giving it a cast time is a great idea, thank you very much again.

Well, since it can be dispelled when the affected hero attacks, casts, or receives any damage i can't see how it can "pwn" anyone, unless the enemy hero is too stupid to simply auto attack/cast on the hero under the effects of the elixir.

Certainly an option for heroes that can't start with boots. I think a cost in the 70-100 range is fine, impossible to determine balance further without playtest. Also it is a simple item to put in the game; it could become a regularly used item without changing balance or builds by much.
Would it stack with boots? You talk about it being a alternative to boots, and I am tempted to say that stacking with boots is abusable.

Yes, that is why i recently changed the ms gain to a static number instead of by a percentage. IMO, the first 100 ms is the most critical, so if someone like valkyrie is sprinting away at over 400 ms, another 30 ms could be the extra umphhh she needs to get away, but i wouldn't consider that imbalanced or abuse.

i like that... the movement speed is not overpowered and the concept sounds interesting :)
