In wc3 world editor.
Press F5
In the list to the left.
Doubleclick the sounds to play them.
Rightclick and save them.

No need to convert, HoN can handle wavs.

Really my way is oppening the war3.mpq with "MPQEditor".

MPQEditor i use as well, just find his folder and it extracts all. Then edit the model.mdf(much easier than editing sound names)
