How to break out of the 1690 - 1720 PSR range

I play pubs and consider myself a "semi-competitive" player. My friends who do play are all in the 1400-1500 psr range and don't play competitively at all, mostly because they are pretty crap at the game.

What advice would you have for someone trying to break into the 1800's but has no friends who are decent at the game?

Avoid the obvious pubstomps/lockfests...always stats your opposing team. If it looks like a fairly even match then you should eventually rise to the PSR you are playing at.
