This mod shows the attack range of all alive towers on the map.
You must have vision of the tower for the indicator to work.

Uses billboards instead of groundsprites. Shouldn't have any lag issues, but it will go under the terrain if there are hills or cliffs nearby.

The stealth detection range is the tower's vision range, someone can dig that from the files if they're nice enough.

IMO, you should make an option that shows only range of the closest tower to your hero(the closest friendly tower and enemy tower) and another one that shows only the closest enemy's tower range(completely disables the mod on friendly towers). Also, if it's possible, make another option to change the range indicator's opacity/color.
I prefer this more subtle version. It's pretty useful if you want to surprise someone with stun near tower early game now that you know it's exact range ;)

Tested it, and the vision range really isn't that much farther than the attack range, due to the fact that the true attack range also takes into account the radius of the building.

The vision range would help more than reveal range imo. But if it won't work from fog it won't help any after all.

I'd suggest not using the second detection ring, the game seems to have problems displaying a lot of ground sprites at once.
Should work fine if you combine them both into one texture though. Or just don't use it since it's almost the same as attack range.

It isn't possible. It's done through the tower entity, not the UI.

That would be harder to do, IMHO, but I know what you mean. Like a total tower defense perimeter instead of the indicators overlapping.
Anyways - if anybody is dissatisfied with the way the perimeter indicator looks it's EXTREMELY easy to modify - just open the .honmod file with any common file packer like 7-Zip and look for the file called range_circle.tga in buildings/range_circle - you can draw whatever you like, even smiley faces, with your favorite graphics editor supporting .tga (i.e. Paint.NET).

I looked in the file and it seems this is just the modified range_circle.tga I posted above. =)
If I'm correct, then the MOD should look like this (zoomed out in Practice Mode), even though I'm not actually using it (slight FPS drop and too much screen clutter for the doubtful benefits this provides anyways, IMHO).

There is a size problem with the current circle for legion. It's ok for the hellbourne towers. I'm going to post a picture of it.

There is a size problem with the current circle for legion. It's ok for the hellbourne towers. I'm going to post a picture of it.
I can confirm this, all legion tower radius are too big.
Edit: And for those, who don't like the thick circular arc: unzip the mod, open the hellbourne & legion *.effect-File and change the "<groundsprite ... alpha"-Value. I prefer "0.05" instead of the default "0.2". Still good to see, but not that nasty.
Edit2: I just fixed the legion tower range problem. The size of the groundsprite has to be reduced to "380".

The shading is the small gray shade inside the circle.

Don't think so - you still have additional textures being loaded and they still have transparency that the engine needs to deal with.

You could disable a fill graphics for it running smoothly:
no anti-alias
no anisotropic
no all options below special effects
no shadows...
you should be able to get higher fps.

lol You're attempting to run it at damn near max settings. Half of that crap you wouldn't even notice if it was turned off.

anti-aliasing > 2x is hardly noticeable even on a paused screen.
Put it to 2x and you'll get 60 frames easily, especially if you also tune down texture filtering to simply 1x anisotropic or whatever... doesn't "do anything" anyway.

btw the game without special effects and post processing looks a bit bleh.

Hmm... you can play with special effects and post processing... but with 2x anti-alias and 2x anisotropic,
working fine here... btw, how do you check the fps in-game???

If you look at my post on the first page you'll see that the truesight range is about half a creep-length farther than the attack range. You should be able to guess where it is without needing another circle.

Are these kind of rings possible to be done with AOE ulties like Magmus and Glacius? I mean if you hold mouse over the button, you get a ring to show the radius?

I could make a mod for showing when Glacius and Magmus is channeling, not on mouseover though.

Not possible unless you know in advance which team you are going be on. Since this mod just changes the effect it cannot be changed at runtime (ie based on what team you are on)

I must say this mod can get extremely annoying after a while. would it be possible to make it so that the tower range is revealed for either:
this could be toggled through mod options framework..
a) enemy towers only
b) range indicators are shown when you are less than 300 range outside of the tower sight range.

That was in practice mode. You can't zoom out like that in regular games. He only did to show the full radius of the tower.

I'm using BlackRyu's version of this but the rings are not accurate. I'm guessing it has to do with the fact that he uses billboards, which don't take terrain into account. Seems to me like the mod losses much of its purpose if it looses it's accuracy. So I'm wondering if anyone can get the old original version to be compatible with the recent patch.

i agree, that would be a huge advantage to the stealth users, nothing like getting too close with 2 enemy's in lane and they notice you cause you stepped inside that stealth range that isnt really known, either way thats good to know now but id say it would be a great upgrade to an already great mod:nigh::scou:
another idea, if you can somehow combine this mod with the tower deny mod, with an ability to make a sound and map notification when a tower needs to be guarded/denyd' or an enemy tower not nessisarily deniable but you can push and destroy. 20% tower hp or something like that.
combine 2 mods for one super tower mod, sounds like dream world

Is it possible to do the same with neutral camps? Can you make a mod to show the range of the camps for stacking so I can pull em out side that range and attack em without blocking the spawn or having to kill 2 camps at once.

omg, only "bug" is the wrong gameversion in the mod, its just about replacing "0.3.*" with "1.0.*"!!!
the 2 versions, original and atmu ones, are already edited and ready to use for the lazy ones, links are some posts above!
dont cry for updates, try to inform u and do it urself, its a work of 20 seconds with 1 min of reading before! or at least use the already edited ones...

To update this mod and make it work for latest version.. or well any version really...
raname the Tower Range.honmod to Tower Range.s2z and open it with winrar for example honmods are just really a zip file including a icon and the code..
and inside the file open the file mod.xml in a text editor look up the line
appversion= << should say some version after like "-0.1" in the not working version or something anyways just make that version into a * like below
appversion="-*"
and then save.. and update the archive with the new mod.xml file then rename the Tower Range.s2z to Tower Range.honmod and just apply the mod like normal again that works great for me

How exactly does this reduce skills anyway? If anything, this should be improving your skills. It's like using flash cards to remember something, say a math formula. Look at the flashcard, can't remember the formula? Flip it over and there it is. Once this is done a couple of times, the formula will stick in your head and you will no longer need to look at the card. Just like this, once you play a few games with this range indicator, eventually you will know where the range is to the point you will no longer need it.
After all, it doesn't take skills to know where the range is, it takes memorization, which has nothing to do with skills.

I personally don't really care if we can keep using this or not but I'm laughing at the bads thinking this mod actually gives any advantage. The advantage is very minimal at best and if you have memorized the ranges already it doesn't really change anything. The only real benefit from this addon is that I've noticed is that the circles also show how far the towers can detect invis so you can go as close as you possibly can without getting detected. But is there really a situation where you can do something better with that information?

first you need to unpack your .honmod file or just take out the mod.xml using winrar or some other program, 7zip, winzip.
open the mod.xml with notepad or any other texteditor program.
find appversion= in the mod.xml file and change it to " appversion="-1.*.*" or just " appversion="-*"
after that save it and put i back into the .honmod file.

Tested it, and the vision range really isn't that much farther than the attack range, due to the fact that the true attack range also takes into account the radius of the building.

i have a question regarding the tower range indicators mods
currently, from what i understand anyways, this mod draws an additional circle on the model of towers.
my question is.. instead of drawing a circle around the tower, couldnt you just draw it into the model of something else that doesnt move, but is unique, so this way the circles stay visible regardless of if you have vision of the tower or not?
like.. using raxes (since they dont move), or other buildings (perhaps the meatball since its unique, etc)
just trying to think of a way to get around the limitation of needing vision to see the towers range.

Not sure if this mod is updated or not, but if it is, all you do it download the file. Put it on your desktop. Double click it. Open it with Mod Man.
If you haven't had Mod Man opened before you might need to tell it where your HoN folder is. I assume c/programs/Heroes of newerth.
/edit: If it's not up to date, go to User Interfaces and find "Range indicators".
There's a tower range in there too.
