1. Do you need a Blu-Ray player? (yes = PS3)
2. Are you willing to pay to play online? (no = 360)
3. Do you have a beefy gaming PC? (yes = PS3)

IMO, the best 360 exclusives aren't actually exclusives if you have a decent gaming rig.

thats true most xbox 360 games are released on pc.The online part isn't that bad it's just 50 dollars a year.

Its simply a matter of taste and needs.

(Keep in mind that I own a Xbox 360 Elite, Playstation 3 and a Wii.)

Gaming wise, the only difference is that the 360 has far better online-gaming systems, then the PS3. Graphics arent that big of a difference, and shouldnt be considered as such when you are deciding which you want to go with.

Playstation 3 has cool unique titles like God of War and Heavy Rain etc.
Xbox 360 has the Halo series, Gears of War etc.

Both the 360 and the PS3 can be connected to your PC for extra media station functions, alto, the PS3 is better at this because of PS3MediaServer (google) and it can view more kins of codecs.

Summary:

360: Better gaming console.
PS3: Better multimedia console.

(even if one of them is better in something, its hardly a GREAT difference, they still walk hand-in-hand)

Basically, if you want to play online on the console, jump for a 360.

PSN can be quite laggy, and XB360 (so far) has no problems at all.

Yeah, but the way I see it, you're going to be spending most of your time online playing one or two games (probably Halo 3 or MW2). You're basically skimping out on buying another game to play these games, when the online service is perfectly fine on PS3/PC.

PSN can be quite laggy, and XB360 (so far) has no problems at all.
i have played on 6 360's on various internets in various parts of this country each for relatively extensive periods of time and i will tell you. out of the 2 PS3's ive played on as well? PSN kicks the **** outa xbox live. its ****in terrible and doesnt hold a torch to PSN (personal experience)

also my personal 360 has red ringed twice and my PS3 has never frozen or even glitched on me before.

i know i SOUND like a PS3 fanboi but ive srsly only had problems with 360 and never had problems with PS3.

Kind of went through this a couple of months ago myself. My xbox stoped reading discs and I was trying to decide to get another xbox or a ps3. A good friend of mine is a HUGE ps3 fanboy and wanted me to come over and try some cod4 out (thats all I played at the time).

After about two hours of play here was my conclusion of the ps3; ****ing SUCKS for fps games. The controller feels like a cheap peace of **** in my hands. There were more hackers in one match than I have ever run into in my entire xboxlive experience.

I dont like paying for xboxlive but at the same time its nice having microsoft looking out for you. So you really do get what you pay for there.

But like I said, all I play on my 360 is MW2 now so...

Srsly, 1 week after warranty expired I got a red ring of death. Although 360 is better for gaming, ps3 is more for movies and shiet.

I live in Brazil here blu-rays are ****ing expensive...

Xbox looks good ,but the best games go for PC...

Statistics would beg to differ. Most of them have 360 failure rate absurdly high, but the old "RRoD lol" jokes are so old now it's not worth making... mainly because everyone just accepts and knows that it's a terribly built machine. My 360 died twice, the second time just a week after it came back from the MS office.

I got a PS3 recently and I'm liking it. In the last year it managed to put out a whole bunch of exclusives I like while the 360 "exclusives" I wanted also happened to have superior PC versions.

He said he lives in Brazil, and that makes a big difference. Blu-rays are much more expensive than normal DVD-based anything in some countries, and 360 games are VERY easily pirated. The 360 is more popular here in China because nearly every one you buy will be pre-modded and you can buy bootleg versions of games as soon as they come out for 2-3 yuan, (about 25-30 cents, in USD) whereas the PS3 has yet to be completely ripped open and blu-rays need to be legit/imported/etc...

i havent bothered playing on the shitty online brawl, has the lag ever cleared up

i normally have 3 friends that come over and we play sometimes, ones fat and beats us with the controller when he loses of course, so i enjoy online play a bit more

why do you think they extend the RROD warranty to 3 years ??

I love how everyone blindly bashes the 360 for the RRoD.

You realise that there are 5 models.

Each one, RRoD becomes less and less prevelant.

The main one right now almost never RRoDs. They are the mojarotiy of the ones on the shelves, and in people's homes.

Plus, if you have a bit of tech savvy, you can easily fix RRoD yourself if you're willing to put an hour into it.

Because that makes the very high failure rate OK, riiiiight.

MS built a really shitty machine for the first 4 years it was out. But, they obviously did something right if people kept buying and re-buying them. Unfortunately that definitely wasn't building a solid machine.

My NES still works 23 years later, that's solid design.

Why anyone with a PC would buy a console to play shooters is beyond me.

I know you already made your decision but there is something you may want to take into account and that is longevity.

It is well known that despite having gone through enough upgrades to make a 45 yr old Pornstar look like shes taking it easy on the surgery the Xbox still has a reputation for being.....not exactly a survivor compared to the PS3. Ontop of that something that you might want to consider is how long you play on using the console. As time has gone on the development for the PS3 has been constantly bettered, as its very hard to develop for compared to the Xbox. Many developers say that even at this stage they can not use the full potential of the PS3. As time goes by development for the PS3 may continue to get better, the key word being may, there is just as an equal chance that developers sit on where they are at.

Ontop of that the PS3, having superior hardware (in general) means that it will age a lot better than the Xbox. It is likely the Xbox will be replaced well before the PS3.

Just putting that out there.

PC is full of nothing but hackers and people whining over no dedicated servers, PS3 is barren. Meanwhile, theres 6 million people playing MW2 online on the 3-6.

So in those cases, the 360 clearly has some shooters built for it / exclusive to it / better than on PC.

Three things.

1) Halo was ported rather poorly over to the PC. Received as average or not is also a huge part of who's playing it. There were tons upon tons of people who adamantly hated Halo when they never played it, and when it came to the PC those same jaded ****s bashed the game.

2) Halo was also built to be a CONSOLE FPS. Not a PC fps. And yes, there is a difference. DMC4 on the PC sucks ****, but on the 3-6 or trey isn't no where near as bad.

3) "Aim Assist", which will barely follow a person for a CM unless you follow it yourself and autoaim/wallhacks/see through wall/whatever other hacks PC MW2 has are part of such a higher echelon when it comes to giving an advantage. "Aim Assist" is only there to make up for the fact that it isn't pinpoint accurate like a mouse is, not to make it where you don't even have to be close to the guy to kill them.

Before I start, I too own all three consoles.

We had a thread like this on a local car forum of all things and the general consensus was: You are crazy to buy an Xbox360 now. The machine has been 'maxed out' (FFXIII demonstrates this), HDdvd's are a dead technology, the failure rate is STILL greater than the PS3, every "exclusive" on the Xbox360 eventually comes out for PC, XboxLive costs money and is actually laggier than the PSN... (maybe this varies by region because I've heard people saying psn is useless compared to Live??? Here it's the exact opposite), God of War III, FF:Versus, GT5 to name a few must have exclusives, the 360 needs Microsoft upgrades: HDD, WIFI, headset --> The ps3 can use any notebook harddrive, has built in wifi and can use any bluetooth headset.

I was very surprised because most of the guys had Xbox360's but we all agreed the 360 was just no longer a good investment if you have any intention of using your console for anything other than gaming. Even gaming wise the PS3 has an advantage.

To those complaining about controllers: You get used to the system you use... I remember how stupid I thought the 360 controllers were for the longest time.

I own Ps3, 360, GC (because it's better than the Wii still).

9/10 I buy a game for Ps3 instead of 360 unless there are issues or if something is ported poorly etc.

I don't value online multiplayer in my console games much. If I did I'd buy the games for 360 (better netcode in my experiences with side by side playthroughs).

Call me crazy, but I don't want next gen games with multiple discs so I get the Ps3 copy. I prefer watching my anime in blu ray. Ps3 is my blu ray player.

Currently Amazon is running a GREAT deal on 4gb Xbox + Kinect for $300 with a 100$ credit. While I'd advice a Ps3 if you pick one, I'm a bargain hunter and this feels good!

TL;DR go to Amazon and get the good deal. Around Black Friday get a Ps3. Have both. Winning.
