Is there any way to disable the retarded function they added recently which changes your lobby chat when holding shift? I can't say how many times I myself or someone in the lobby has sent to the wrong team only cos the sentence ended with ! o r ? or with a smiley.

A mod to remove this, which imo is the dumbest change in hon as of yet, second only to pre-nerf engineer, would be awesome!

Or why doesn't s2 just add it to game options, why do they force such shitty things on players is beyond me.

It's in game_chat.package. The honmod is literally just find then remove. Someone with no experience who knows how to read the game files could easily do it.

I'll look into it myself then, I work as a web developer so shouldn't be too hard then! Thanks.

I entirely disagree. I really like the functionality. I haven't had any problems with it at all.

Its just that sometimes people dont let go of shift before pressing enter

Fully agree, it's not very thought out. They need to find another way to simply switch between Allies and All.

I've yet to make that mistake, you're just typing to messy.

I'm sure it's removable though, but I'm personally not suffering from it whatsoever.

Yeah. People are typing too fast/sloppy these days.

Welcome to the internet.

On-topic: I definitely agree with everything. I almost ALWAYS do this, as I type pretty fast, so could cause me pressing Enter before I let go of shift.

I've been meaning to add a delay and/or timer to the shift to get rid of this problem (i.e. hold for one second) but I'm working on replacing the main keys for the game (one down! 59 to go! ;)) so, it might be a while. Hopefully someone else will get to it sooner.

There was a reason why in wc3 you pressed shift+enter at the start of the chat line, not at the end. A lot of sentences end with a shift-character like ! ? ), and if you type fast it's not rare at all to press the next key before you've let go of the previous one.

Say what you want, I see this happening every single day and I have yet to meet anyone in-game that actually said "Hey, this was a good change", and I've seen plenty of whines about it. Regardless, I don't mean to whine more as I've already explained myself in the opening post, however this is a topic about a solution to the problem, not your opinion on it, so please stop trolling.

In a problem-solution thread, it is perfectly viable to argue that the problem is not sufficiently bad that we should be concerned about it.

+1

problem with it beeing the shift key is that you often end your sentances with a ? or a !

should we go with this lineup? and the enemy team sees what your going to pick etc... but we'r all getting used to it now i think..

I must be the only one who thinks it was a good change...
Got used to how it works in 2 days.

Why change something that wasn't broken in the first place?

What do you mean "we", you don't work at s2 games, do you? Why would I care the slightest if you are concerned by my problem.. This is a thread for people that hate the stupid shift functionality, and there is a lot of us. If you don't like it, then stop posting.

I've coded a solution anyway.

Simply removes shift changing chat from all/team.

I type very fast as well, and still haven't made that mistake.

Regardless I don't really use the function myself, so I really don't care if S2 removes it or not.
