After the hype (expecially after it was banned in aus) I kinda expected this to be a bit better than "run up to enemy and mash mouse1"
Nobody other than the host should really bother being a marine :>

luckily they gave it the all clean in aus now

I downloaded it when I saw this thread. Waste of time - coming from an Alien/Predator fan.
Although it is a beta, the gameplay thus far fails on many levels.
Marines are bad.
Hosting is atrocious.
Predators don't live up to their legacy.

Keep in mind, dedi servers on launch. It will have a SP. And there is **** to unlock for MP.
I'll buy it. Even though Mp basically boils down to marines use smartgun and the other races is "hard melee to stun and win"

Its pretty good once you get used to it. Left click spamming will result in blocking wich will cause you to flinch and usually cause your death. right cliks are slow but dodgable attacks and the auto kill button can only be used if your ombatant is injured or unaware of you.

And the sneak kills are BEAUTIFUL. Especially for the humans. a list of my favorites
1)Oh just killed a predator i see, *grabs arm* oh stop screaming *shoves tail in stomach* No wriggling for you *grabs arm and pulls them further onto the tail* eww stop getting all your blood and puke on me...
2) *insert super spy theme here* oh look another unsuspectign marine. *Grabs neck and tears it out* oh nice i can see your esophogus wiggling in the air.
3)*shoves tail between the legs and out the throat* Nuff said.
4) Gotcha! now ill ever so slowly twitch my bladed tail in front of your neck has you stare and scream and till, schloop! there goes your head.

This game is great, but the insta kill buttons and marines suck. It takes like 3-4 seconds for your bullets to travel 10 feet.

Playing as a alien felt really sluggish, even with the immense speed and how you can come from any angle.
Marine sucks unless youre the host

Predator is beast. he just needs to sit n one corner of the map and plasma snipe. if you get close to him, hes strong close quarters and can instantly kill you with his combistick or smart disc. not to mention there is no hiding from his vision modes. The only eay i find to fight a good predator is too either sneak up behind him and hope he doesn't turn around, instantkill him while hes distracted aiming or fighting. or to run up and a wall and hope you can catch him with your tail so hell stumble and allow you to finish him off.

I was really looking forward to this game being a huge fan of Aliens Vs Predator made back in what 2000 or something. One of my favorite FPSs.
You'd think that they'd have TDM in the demo = /
I spent hours with the AVP2 MP demo back in the day.
Was a complete waste of time to be honest. The combat was just a mass of mouse1 and was just terrible.

Learn how the game development cylce works. The game was DEVELOPED by Rebellion, the game was PUBLISHED by Sega. Similar to a book publisher, a game publisher simply gives the book writer (developer) money with the assumption of return on investment. Depending on the terms of agreement the publisher may or may not have some say in the development process.
For example Electronic Arts PUBLISHED Mass Effect 2, which was DEVELOPED by Bioware. In other words, the developer is responsible for the vast majority of quality, or lack thereof, you see in game.

I'm a bit disappointed with the AvP demo thus far. On the PS3 (I know this topic is about the demo on Steam) it's nigh impossible to even get in a game (got two games in 2h30 min a few days ago) and in the damn PC demo you can't turn off your mic while in the "lobby", ****ing irritating. Kept hearing a damn Russian talk all the time in my first game, and I was afraid of even ****ing breathing. Also, frequent disconnects or "The host has left the game". It pisses me off.

The trailer makes it look like the only thing you should even bother playing is an alien and it sounds like the feedback supports it.

Was it me or the scaling was terrible? The aliens in the films are huge but in the game compared to the humans they are tiny. Anyone noticed this?

The predators are also slightly out of scale.

meh yeah. but gameplay reasons, if it was gigantic, would be useless and easy to spot, even though the tail already makes it easy as hell to spot

Although he admitted he sucked, watching OP bop around as alien made me sick. Then coming off the roof to ambush the pred he just got lost.
Seems like a lot of work to me. I'd rather go play ez mode scout. Much less work.
