Ultimate Replay UI

Match replays are great. Too bad the replay interface is over-engineered. It takes too much space of the screen and is hard to position in convenient spot on the screen.

Ultimate Replay UI fixes this by replacing the completely useless minimized state of the Replay interface with a far more useful 'media player'-like UI.

Features:


Minimal size - just a single line. See the battle, not dozens of controls.
Original maximixed view is still available
Large slider means easy positioning in long replays
Play button is Play & Pause in one
Play button does not reset play speed

Well, not everyone uses hotkeys.
And you can't position your video with keys like using the slider.

If it is possible to implement, I'll add hotkeys soon to this mod.

Now if only you can make the "expanded" version of the replay manager into Duker's replay interface...then it would be a nice hybrid

I will certainly add options as a popup menu, so there will be no need for a larger interface at all.

what bothers me is that it overlaps the scoreboard and you cant open the scoreboard when its collapsed because the button is behind the replay control bar. another thing that would be nice is if there was a button to access whom you spectating on the bar.

The scoreboard button looks rough and will definitely be changed by S2 soon.
Right now you can just click on the time show (where the 'S' button is supposed to be) and it will show.

In a next version there will be a an additional uber minimal interface that will have just the Play / Pause button and it will sit right next to the 'S' button.

I will certainly add options as a popup menu, so there will be no need for a larger interface at all. There will be if you don't make it moveable, because right now it hinders other interface functionality, as described by tchackie.

Anyway, I'm missing the slowdown/speedup buttons as picking speed through the menu is way too slow for me (I change speed quite often), and jump-to-time function would be nice (I can give you the code for that if you're interested).

I guess adding key bindings will fix most problems with not all options shown correctly.
I already implemented a uber mini version and it works well with the scoreboard.

I don't think you read this thread. The point is to make the replay controls more streamlined.

Yep, it is about taking the controls out of your way when watching replays.

While good media players have very simple-looking UIs, they have been improving for years to achieve all the functionality with very few elements.

Next update will have a super minimal version too, will not obscure stats and will have keybindings.

I am thinking on defaults of these:
Space - pause/play
Arrow Up & Arrow Down - speed up & slow down
Arrow Left & Arrow Right - RW & FF

Not sure how many people use the arrow keys to scroll their screen?!?

It definitely needs to work only with Replays and not within the game. Not sure how it can be done.

I personally use Space instead of H for Hold.

It is important though to offer not just the possibility of key bindings, but good default ones, because most people don't rebind keys.
