Okay, I never played DotA but i have played HoN for quite some time now.
One thing i'm still trying to grasp is the thought pattern that lead to the items that are in the Outpost.

I understand the majority are cheap items that you can grap whilst in lane. But some do baffle me. Like why are duck boots in there, yet not the other +3 stat items. This makes it clear that pretenders crown's would (usually) be a better purchase from the beginning if there is no courier (which there should be).
Also, why is Shaman's Headress one of the (if not the only) item that can be fully made from the outpost?
