Some guy made a petition to change Mt. Diablo to Mt. Reagan (california)

For the sole purpose of the name; He thinks that the "devil" is lurking on earth and has settled on mt diablo. He believes it's insulting to his religious beliefs, and therefore should be called "mt. Reagan", based on Ronald Reagan.

It's funny how the ego works. Many religious people (such as him) uses "the devil" as a scapegoat for tragedies. Their ego is controlling what they do, and how they act, because religious people make decisions based on their religious background. It's people like him, religious people, that make up all this bullshit about purifying a world from the subjective "evil".

That reminds me the simpsons' episode where they have to sleep one night into a haunted house for a will, and at first look its really spooky, but then at the next day they go out saying that that was the best night they ever had.

It has historical meaning.

The name Mt. Diablo was named because in the 1700's, Indians would escape the cruel missionaries to this mountain. The Spanish could not track them on the mountain so it was called "El Montano Diablo" for it's elusive effect of hiding Indians.

In other words, changing Mt Diablo to Mt Reagan is absurd because Mt Diablo has Californian history, in which is best to preserve for later years.
