So my room mate likes Paragon, and I like to play Renegade. I just thought he was a wuss and the only one who played Paragon, but then I asked around and found most of my friends play it... One even said he "felt like a dick" when he played Renegade...

So I wanted to know what other people chose! I know that some people play through twice to play as both (like me) but I'm talking about FIRST choice! VOTE! I'm really interested to see what state of mind people are in. You can even post if you want giving reasons why you like a particular alignment, I don't care.

maxed out paragon and still have a block of Renegade. Sometimes I get Renegade without trying.

so far 1 bar paragon 2 and a half bars renegade, I love when the renegade click comes up and I randomly punch or kill people in chat, haha

i never intentionally play as one or the other, just pick what seems best. i tend to run in the more renegade side of things, however

Paragon on Vanguard.

Renegade on Engineer when I am happy with my Vanguard.

Whatever the **** I feel like on my Assassin; I plan on playing it though 3 times, going to do 100% on whichever I have the most fun with.

I have a really old TV so I can't read the chat options anyways.
so I'm pretty much 50/50 split.

I'm mixed, more paragon than renegade but it's fun to do some awesome renegade stuff.

But being paragon keeps you from pulling a gun and taking out half your enemies in one awesome cutscene

Tyrando

true that, theres more Renegade options in ME2 than Paragon within the Cutscene's

"look she cant even hit a simple target!"

"burn in hell!"

I play as though I'm in the situation, so I think I ended up with like 100% paragon, and 30% renegade by the end of my first play through.

I always do good choices on my first playthrough, mostly because i am a good person at heart.

On my second playthrough, i still can't make me do all the evil stuff, i have no idea why.. Like i Fallout 3, i just BARELY made myself blow up Megaton. I got serious poblems.

ok how is it that 38% of the people who voted havent played either mass effect????

there are some people in this forum that NEED to go out play these games, now.

For my first run of ME2, I was evenly split between the two. For ME1, I've played both extremes. Renegade is more fun.

I am playing Paragon on my first run through, same as ME1. It's usually easier to get through situations by being nice than being mean, and tends to pay off more. That, and it's my gut reaction.

lol the interrogation room is hilarious, playing as a Paragon with you both being the good cop takes forever and you eventually just strike up a deal, with Renegade all it takes is 1 red text message and boom.

Vanguard was my first class in ME1 and ME2.

Unfortunately the up close and personal requirement doesn't work very well on anything higher than normal difficulty.

By the end of the game I had taken Barrier and maxed it so I was able to achieve my destiny of a shotgun wielding badass.

Also, Shockwave absolutely destroys Husks.

Shockwave is useless on Insanity. Everything has Armour or Shields, or both. Including the damn husks.

Running through Insanity at the moment is a paragon Vanguard. I can't use Biotic Charge for much other than quickly finishing isolated targets. Even with full barrier skill my shields get ripped through by small arms.

Biggest challenge playing through in insanity is crowd control. You have to stay in cover and getting forced out of cover by a wave of husks, or getting flanked by the Harbinger or Scions or something is a major issue. And because everything, even the shitty Loki Bots have armour and/or shields most conventional crowd control skills like concussion shot, pull and shockwave are completely inneffective. So far Squad Cryo rounds is proving to be a saving grace.

I'm playing through a second time on Hardcore as an Infiltrator, and I'm 99% probable to use Soldier on my Insanity play through.

Have you tried Warp ammo? It looked to me like the best ammo type since it does added damage to 2 types, instead of 1 like the others. I'm still not sure about it, since it's my extra power and not sure what else to get as a sniper class.

Also, do you have any idea what the best sniper rifle is? The starter one let me 1 hit kill the loki bots, but I had the DLC sniper by the time I was done with them so I wasn't able to compare power to similar mobs. It seems that the DLC rifle is slightly weaker in power, but makes up for it with extra ammo per pickup (5 or so compared to just 1 with the starter).

And yeah, it's been about 6 months since I last played ME1, but it seemed to me like it was easier and more damaging to use biotics on enemies somehow. It's a waste to use biotics such as Pull/Throw/Slam now since you can finish them off anyways in half a second once their defenses are down.

its all about the defences in this game, a party member to bring down the shields, and one to bring down the barriers/armour, or ofcourse a mix n match, which is why i love Miranda, not to mention the awesome Slam!

I remember it came very fast after I got the IFF.

Just make sure you've done everything before you go get it.

After my crew was jacked, I just went around collecting resources for about an hour to finish all my available upgrades, then I went after them.

Half of the ship crew died, the kind that take up space in your ship, not party members.

I originally took Warp Ammo when I tried an insanity run. That didn't work out too well. Even with the extra damage you just aren't doing enough to thin the ranks before you get flanked. The problem isn't so much damage output it's the amount you recieve every time you pop your head up to take a shot, you waste so much time having to regen shields.

So I rerolled my character and took Barrier instead. That's a really useful skill, and to deal with the shittonne of armour toting enemies I took incendary rounds and set them to evolved inferno ammo.

But again, the amount of damage I was dealing wasn't sufficient, and the problem again lay in the amount I was recieving. So I reskilled most of the incendary ammo points into Cryo ammo, and evolved it into squad ammo.

By freezing and taking multiple enemies out of the fight at once I recieve that much less damage, and that means I can shoot for longer. On top of that, do keep in mind frozen enemies take extra damage, so you're not missing out too much on a damage bonus either. IMO Cryo ammo is the best out of the lot because it allows you to control a fight

I can't comment on any of the DLC, but the strongest sniper out of the basic set is the Anti-Material Widowmaker. It's a single shot rifle only available if you have a Soldier or Infiltrator that chooses to specialise in a sniper rifle during advanced weapon training. If any other class picks sniper rifle under advanced weapon training they can only access up to the automatic Viper.

The Widowmaker has ammo issues, you can only carry like 15 rounds even with extra clip bonuses, but it packs a freakin punch. I went my first playthrough on Veteran and it was one shotting just about everything.

Yeah, I knew about all that stuff from my first play through. I just wondered if you knew the order including the DLC rifle.

Does cryo ammo freeze through the various protection? I never use it.

Tyrando

Cryo freezes thru everythin afaik, by far the best without a doubt, the only pain in the ass is with soldier you need to jack 4 points into useless ammo to get to Cryo, tho im aware other classes have it aswell.

DLC rifle is better than the stock 1 but it lacks later on tbh, even with time dialation getting all 3 shots in is a pain in the ass, and a waste of ammo compared to 1 shot kills via other rifles.

have people used the DLC blackhole gun? fun **** that i tell ya, takes almost as long as the nuke to charge up like but if you get it off boo yah

The 3 shots thing is the same problem I have. The first shot causes the enemy to move so half the time the other 2 shots miss.

I'll try out the cryo ammo.

I've only used the blackhole gun against the dropship boss at the end of Garus' mission, but it's a beast.
