In addition to HoN, I absolutely love arena style e-Sports oriented games.

So finally Bloodline Champions opened the beta to the Euro/Swedish beta testers, but I am working with them for the title so I got to squeeze out a little ccess ;) (sorry non-Euro peeps, beta only has Swedish servers, thus euro only) Although, i found the lag to be "not bad" around 200 ping.

I was playing with the Lead Director of the company in the game named "ilves"

He's a healer type class, making me look good with my boomerangs, the annoying drum sound is when you click on a spell and it's still on cooldown. A nasty habbit playing dota for so long, and now hon, is spamming those buttons. Course, It's the same with WoW too which are really the only games I play.

Loved it, played some total random matches with a dev as gunner and some other guy as healer, myself being Vanguard. As first impressions go this was great, wondering how much debt there will be in the game.

It was my first day, I'm sure it's adjustable, it's just a sound when you're on cooldown.

Heh, I already have a few problems just by looking at the video. :)

Obviously the drum sounds are freakishly annoying, but the interface is what really bothers me. For a game like this, the interface shouldn't be so dominant on the screen.

Notice how the interface is clear and the point. The health / mana bar on top of the skill bar.

In Bloodline Champions, you have this long skill bar, and a very useless health bar on one side with so much black space. Is there space really needed for a menu button and feedback? That stuff could easily be put in the top right corner of the screen. Your team mates health bar should also be on top left of the screen, instead of the bottom.

Wish I can beta access, Euro servers aren't really an issue with me since I'm on a 10mb down connection. Right now I often play with Euros in HoN and currently in the Mortal Online beta which happens be in Sweden.

Hmm I have seen a few videos now, it kind of looks childish to me? Does it take much skill? It looks like you just run around after each other and spam your skill keys.

Since it's supposed to be based on Warlocks in wc3, yeah it should take skill. The spells aren't shot off by pressing skill keys, but by pointing a direction and firing a spell projectile in that direction. There is a fair amount of marksmanship, and the other guy can move to evade.

My favorite part, from the website.

Chance is not a factor. Spells and abilities do a set amount of damage and we've removed critical hits and passive avoidance abilites. Spells travel to your point of aim and can be avoided by enemy players, making every ability dependant on individual player skill!
Never played Warlocks.

Are they marketing this as $20 Steam game, or some $50 standalone?

It's arena style, similar to Quake Rocket Arena and other FPS. Great thing I like about is the lack of luck involved (no crits, no random powerups, etc).

.. it's cooldown based. When you're cooldown is .8 seconds, you tend to click to do most DPS in least amount of time.

I guess you all havne't played arena or WoW, used to hon and dota, clicking qwe and r then running around waiting for the 20 second to 2 minute cooldowns.

I've been in the beta list for about a month or more now. Hope I get an invite soon. I live right next door to Sweden. And that Peter Ilves guy is half Estonian...should be a pretty safe bet. Really, REALLY looking forward for this game. This is going to be so awesome to play with the peeps I play wow arena with.

If they are aiming for the "Dota" crowd, I think they will fail. The game looks to simplified to be entertaining for a long time.

No mana, no creeps, no base, no fog, no juking, no ganking

Every spell has a very low cooldown making the game a spam fest with minimal punishment for missing. And from what i have read on theirs official page they are aiming to make bloodlines a competitive game. All those excluded elements make Hon and Dota competitive and those elements make some players better than others, in Bloodlines its the best spammer wins or so it seems from the video

I would like to try the game but from the video it looks like a minigame for wasting time in betwen Hon matches like pudge wars or TD maps were in War3 , hardly an new ground breaking Dota based game

I know they are accepting mainly Euros because their servers are all in Sweden, and they base a lot of it on IRC/Forum activity.

Game has potential, albeit being a Warlock clone/ripoff, but dont think it has a massive/epic future. Will most likely be enjoyed by some, praised by a few and dismissed by a majority.

Not that that would make it a bad game or anything like that.

Got my key yesterday, just played ONE game now and servers seem to have crashed? Since I can't connect.

Anyways game looks pretty fun so far, I like the idea of ultimates that need charging by doing dmg/healing.

Also the beta testing period is horrible, just 2 days a week for 4 hours?
Sunday and Monday 18:00 to 22:00 :/

hilarious this game lol, loving the Vanguard

i suggest playing either Glutton or Vanguard first like, being a tank n all you can absorb alot of punishment which allows you to spend longer alive and thus gain more experience/feel for the game.

This game is AWESOME. Oh my god, I just sunk like 5 hours into this game. I'm pretty bad, but DAMN is it fun. Only 12 heroes though, I hope we get a ton more.

It's definitely an EARLY EARLY beta, but for being this unpolished, it still shines.

Definitely gonna spend some more time with this game.

Got a key the other day and tried it out. I played a Spear master the first few games which was quite painful since the server lag was awful, coupled with a not so astonishing skillset (imo) and squishiness.

Performance was crappy due to 50% my crappy PC and 50% I'm in EUR. I couldn't create matches because they were redirected at local. Joining games worked fine, but I only tried twice.

Noticed the game while back when it ran in the swedish awards tourney and judging from the videos it has great potential. while alot of people who like HoN can like it, very very few HoN players gonna stop playing hon because of it. because it may require (possibly) greater aiming and timing skills, it really does lack in tactical and strategic depth that hon has.

my instant reaction to it was: well hello to you HoN's dear little brother, as opposed to LoL, where my reaction was - well goodbye to you HoN's little foster sister.

The fact that the beta is only on Mondays and Sundays for 6 hours each makes me die inside. When I played it Monday, it totally filled the void in my soul Labeled 'Game I actually enjoy playing'. Now, it can only fill that void Monday and Sunday. Fuuuuuuuu.

Any Similar games out? I really want more of this top down fragging goodness. WASD to control, and actual skill is needed to win.

First we sort out the applications with confirmed e-mail addresses. As our servers are currently located in Sweden we are selecting players with closer proximity first for latency reasons. We are working on opening more servers around the world. We then sort the applications by attributes such as age, location, activity on forums and IRC, as well as their hardware specifications as we strive to cover a broad spectrum of participants.

Disregard the Sweden part, they've expanded To European Server sand USA servers.

Got into the beta a bit ago. It's really a fun game and has a lot of potential.
The fact that you can play it just for two days a week is really annoying but
that's what you just have to deal with when you are an indie company with

So tired of seeing a Thorn in every game, too much cc and healing.

Im loving the spearmaster and glutton so far, tried the engineer but I think he needs a buff(his m1 needs shorter cast or longer range).

I disagree, his M1 deals an insane amount of damage and engineer has so many ways to mess with people. Basically with him around, don't expect to be able to move at all.

This game gets quite dull after a while. I mean don't get me wrong...the first 5-6 games were quite near to "the most fun I've ever had in a comp game". But after a while..its just the same thing and there are really no "goals" to go for.

From what I read you don't need to repeatedly press keys - you can hold them down and the skill/spell will be cast when it's available. (Suggestion for HoN? I know we have shift-queuing but that would be very nice for orb abilities or i.e. Armadon's quills)
I don't know - the servers are currently down and I can't play it but it might very well turn out to be something like organized Guild Wars PvP, which was just epic. Also, I like the "skill based" aspect of it - in that there is zero randomness and also no item/character build advantages. It's not that I don't like the strategic aspect of HoN but I'm pointing out how this is completely different from other MOBAs I've seen - perhaps this will be a game that won't present me with an either/or choice when it comes to HoN.
We'll see, can't judge anything at this point.

P.S. I have pretty strong fingers. :-P
I write for a living and also have more than enough APM in HoN. ^^

The game is quite a lot of fun. You can't even compare it to HoN - it's completely different. Bite-size entertainment with manually targeted skills. Plays a bit like an arena shooter. I like it. :-D

Ha, ha - you found out too? Cake played with him today quite a bit and was owning hard. The Alchemist is both one of the best healers and damage dealers in the game AT THE SAME TIME, since he can switch stances. ^^

It's easier for me to say which Bloodlines I DON'T like. I tried all of them out at least once. =)

Alchemist, Gunner, Nomad, Inhibitor and Engineer are slightly meh to me but it's only a matter of personal preference since I've seen people own with them. Igniters look cute - so do Raveners (for completely different reasons). I like the hero designs in the game - they're definitely unique and kinda look tied to Scandinavian folklore to me (since the company who makes the game is Swedish).

Got that mixed up. I was astronomer. Hes kind of insane. Being able to heal decently and damage decently. Engy rapes son.

I'm trying to get pretty good with one bloodline at a time, so far I think I've got down spearmaster and gunner, but I think they're pretty easy compared to some of the other ones.

Jesus - so many losses today. The BLC community is smaller than the HoN community but the concept is the same - rating leeching (2000 guys going up against newbies), clueless people joining and not knowing what to do with difficult characters and of course leavers... Sigh. Had some good games today too, though.

Ah, and Glutton is not that good against more defensive teams focused on CC. He's slow, his dash has a long cooldown and you can escape his AoE stun easily. He won't be able to do crap then. The problem with him is of course that nobody gets healers in small games. :-P

I "trained" Inhibitor today. He's fun... IF YOU AIM WELL. He has loads of HP but is ranged - his two main attacks are similar and have cross-interaction. The first one deals more damage, amplifies damage up to 30% for 3 stacks and the stacks can be consumed to heal with the SECOND attack, which reduces the target's healing and damage output (epic for shutting down healers), heals you and consumes any first attack stacks for additional damage. He also has a quite fast and VERY long range teleport, an ability that works like Spearman's Meditation (switches places upon attack and stuns) and a Shield that stuns AoE when it breaks for epic annoyance. :-P

I played against one of the devs today with like 500 games played and he had a team stack going but it was unranked. We won one round even though I was with like 0-5 and 0-4 dudes. He played Psychopomp, another very annoying and hard to catch character. =)
