Hi all, and thanks for reading. This is my first attempt at item creation; I have a very large amount of experience when it comes to hero creation (previous experience stems from a lot of work in the Warcraft III editor) and dabbled in item creation, so I hope that you enjoy my concept.
Foremost, as always, numbers are not permanent, and are just "rough sketches".
I know that we've all noticed a lack of use for an item that should have a vastly larger role in the game; in fact, it holds the title of "second-most expensive base item" in the game.
My friends, I'm talking about the Dancing Blade. +25 attack speed to whomever wields it, with a pretty little bonus to damage for Agility heroes. It occurred to me that, since the recent changes to the Charged Hammer, poor old Dancing Blade was left in the dark.
It further occurred to me that there are indeed some heroes that can make use of the Axe of the Malphai without having strength as a primary attribute, and to a lesser degree, Mystic staff has its practical uses to some Strength heroes (and rarely, Agility heroes, as well!)
My next thought was: how can I make Strength and Intelligence heroes an attractive toy that they can use based off of a Dancing Blade?
Here's what I came up with.
Warmonger
:DancingBlade:Dancing Blade (3300) + :Lifetube:Lifetube (875) + Recipe (900) = 5075
+15 Agility
+5 Strength
+5 Intelligence
+20 Attack Speed
+5 Hit Points Per Second
Ability: Vitality Boost
The ability Vitality Boost has the following profile:
Activation: 10% of maximum mana
Duration: 5 seconds
Cooldown: 45 seconds
Effects:
+10 health regeneration
+20 Agility
Grants additional health regeneration equal to 3% of the total mana used to cast abilities during Vitality Boost's duration, +2 hit points of health regeneration per attack made during Vitality Boost's duration, and +2 hit points of health regeneration per non-DoT damage source sustained during Vitality Boost's duration.
After Vitality Boost expires, the bonus health regeneration (including the +10 base regen) returns to 0 over the next 5 seconds.
The loss of Agility off of the Dancing Blade is rebalanced into Strength and Intelligence, but the additional attack speed should make up for this and make it an attractive item for a number of heroes across the board with a 'squishy' context by adding to their Effective Hit Points.
