INTRODUCTION
http://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/heroes/26/icon_128.jpg
Wielding twin, scythe-like blades, the she-reaper known as the Dark Lady has moved through the Legion's ranks like a shadow of death. For soldiers seeking to buck up their courage, she is a punch-line: "Careful you don't find the Dark Lady," they joke to their carousing friend. But even these jokes are accompanied by a shudder. Swift and cold and lethal as the frozen winds off the steps, black as the cloud-choked night, she is no laughing matter.

Dark Blades
The Dark Lady activates the malicious energy in her Wrath Blades, causing her attacks to silence foes, preventing them from using spells and abilities. The malicious energy in her blades also increase her base damage temporarily.
Level 1 - Applies Dark Blades to self for 3 seconds, increasing base damage by 50%. Applies silence to enemies upon attack.
Level 2 - Applies Dark Blades to self for 4 seconds, increasing base damage by 70%. Applies silence to enemies upon attack.
Level 3 - Applies Dark Blades to self for 5 seconds, increasing base damage by 90%. Applies silence to enemies upon attack.
Level 4 - Applies Dark Blades to self for 6 seconds, increasing base damage by 110%. Applies silence to enemies upon attack.
Author's Comments: This self-buff massively increases The Dark Lady's damage per second (DPS), while also afflicting enemies with the Silence debuff on attack. It is very useful for interrupting channels, cancelling teleports, silencing powerful casters (such as Tempest or Witch Slayer), or just putting out raw damage.
Cooldown: 22/18/14/10 seconds
Mana Cost: 75/85/95/105 mana
Type: Self buff
Cast time: 0.5 seconds
Damage Type: Physical (?)
Duration: 3/4/5/6 seconds (self-buff); 3 seconds (enemy debuff)

Taint Soul
The Dark Lady forces her influence onto an enemy unit's soul, tainting it. The target enemy is weakened, taking damage and reduced movement speed for a brief duration.
Level 1 - Deals 60 damage to the target enemy, and applies the Tainted Soul effect, reducing movement by 60%. The target recovers to their initial movement speed over a period of 2 seconds.
Level 2 -Deals 90 damage to the target enemy, and applies the Tainted Soul effect, reducing movement by 60%. The target recovers to their initial movement speed over a period of 3 seconds.
Level 3 - Deals 120 damage to the target enemy, and applies the Tainted Soul effect, reducing movement by 60%. The target recovers to their initial movement speed over a period of 4 seconds.
Level 4 - Deals 150 damage to the target enemy, and applies the Tainted Soul effect, reducing movement by 60%. The target recovers to their initial movement speed over a period of 5 seconds.
Author's Comments: Early in the game, this will be your primary harassing tool. It will help you deal moderate amounts of damage to the enemy hero of your choice, while still keeping a steady supply of mana due to its low manacost. Later in the game, it's primary use will be the slow. Complementing it is the absolutely massive range, which must be used and abused come late game.
Cooldown: 12 seconds
Mana Cost: 35/45/55/65 mana
Type: Single target debuff
Cast time: 0.5 seconds
Damage Type: Magical
Duration: 2/3/4/8 seconds

Charging Strikes
The Dark Lady launches herself toward a target location at incredible speed, attacking enemies as she passes by them.
Level 1 - Passes a maximum distance of 600. Zeal increases attack rate by 30.
Level 2 - Passes a maximum distance of 700. Zeal increases attack rate by 45.
Level 3 - Passes a maximum distance of 800. Zeal increases attack rate by 60.
Level 4 - Passes a maximum distance of 900. Zeal increases attack rate by 75.
Author's Comments: This is definitely one of my favourite skills, because it offers a cheap and effective way of applying Dark Blades to the enemy, and with the Zeal effect, further increases your DPS potential. One thing worth mentioning, is that it is a pseudo-blink, meaning that The Dark Lady will not be teleported to the location, and neither will she slowly charge towards it, going through everything and anything. Charging Strikes will not allow The Dark Lady to go over impassable terrain (trees, cliffs, towers, etc.) so she will take an alternative route, and move around these obstacles. She does however go through units, and if you have Dark Blades active, it will apply the Dark Blades debuff on the enemy.
Cooldown: 21/17/13/9 seconds
Mana Cost: 75 mana
Type: Position target; self buff
Cast time: 0.1 seconds
Damage Type: Physical; Damage Type modifiers apply
Duration: 6 seconds (Zeal effect)

Cover of Darkness
Using the depths of her Dark Powers, The Dark Lady poisons the minds of all enemy heroes in an area. For the duration, affected enemy heroes move slightly slower, lose all allied vision and have a reduced sight range.
Level 1 - Applies the Darkness effect for 4 seconds to all enemies in a radius. Reduces movement speed by 5%, reduces vision to 400, and unlinks shared ally vision.
Level 2 - Applies the Darkness effect for 6 seconds to all enemies in a radius. Reduces movement speed by 10%, reduces vision to 400, and unlinks shared ally vision.
Level 3 - Applies the Darkness effect for 8 seconds to all enemies in a radius. Reduces movement speed by 15%, reduces vision to 400, and unlinks shared ally vision.
Author's Comments: Probably one of the most gamebreaking spells currently in the game. The dangerous thing about it is neither the slow, nor the reduces vision (OK, it's dangerous, but not as much as the next thing), but what makes it so deadly is that it unlinks ally vision. Yes, enemies will no longer see what their allies see (though they can still see what their own wards do), making it almost impossible to heal each other, buff each other, or even target enemy heroes unless they are within a range of 400 of each other (spell ranges still apply of course). Not very spammable, but almost ensures a Genocide when used properly (and hopefully an Annihilation for you). It costs a very low amount of mana, and has unlimited range, making it a very affordable disable.
Cooldown: 120 seconds
Mana Cost: 75 mana
Type: Area target; Enemy debuff
Cast time: 0.8 seconds
Duration: 4/6/8 seconds

I personally prefer the Offensive build from all of the above. I try to gank as often as mana permits, and get a lot of kills early game, so I get more items late game. However, if you're stuck in a hard lane (such as Vindicator, Nymphora or Tempest) I recommend the Defensive build. It offers more survivability (without stats, but with more escape mechanisms). If you can't decide, go for the passive build. It offers a fair amount of survivability, yet you maintain a steady damage output. Pick whichever one you like the most, and whichever is most fitting to the situation (though I'll say it again, I recommend going Offensive).

Area of Effect damage
Heroes with large amounts of Area of Effect will work well with your skills, because your Dark Blades keeps enemies from nuking them to death, allowing them to use their potent spells. Heroes with Area of Effect damage include, but are not limited to: Torturer, Soulstealer, Soul Reaper, Pollywog Priest, Nymphora, Magmus, Corrupted Disciple, Slither, etc. in no particular order (though Torturer is by far the best).
Disablers
If you have a good disabler on your team, it keeps the enemies from focusing their attacks on you, so you can take them on with your massive amounts of burst damage. Heroes with powerful disables include, but are not limited to: Succubus, Magmus, Behemoth, Forsaken Archer, Deadwood, Hellbringer, Voodoo Jester, Keeper of the Forest, Vindicator, etc. in no particular order.
Tempest
An unusual combination you might say, but Tempest is one of the greatest heroes you can pair with The Dark Lady. His ultimate allows you to pound away at the enemy heroes, and his (ever repeating) stun will highly increase your chasing potential. Your heroes also complement him however: Cover of Darkness allows him to fully cast Void with lower chances of being interrupted.
