How do people link .gif files in their signature? I'm trying to link one off of my photobucket account and I'm getting an error everytime saying that I'm not allowed to have more than one picture in my sig.

I'm trying to use the [.IMG] [./IMG] (without the periods in there of course)

thanks :)

You're linking a webpage, not an image.

You're linking a webpage, not an image.

Well here is a sample of what I trying to do:
[.IMG]http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g23/I_eat_corn/1187936459396.gif[./IMG]

and that is what was giving me the error

Then I tried
<a href="http://s52.photobucket.com/albums/g23/I_eat_corn/?action=view&current=1187936459396.gif" target="_blank"><img src="http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g23/I_eat_corn/1187936459396.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

and that didnt work, just left the HTML as is

don't use [img] tags. there's an actual "edit signature" option under the control panel. you can link the IMAGE there.

This is what I was doing, went to the control panel, went to edit sig, an this is where I was trying to enter everything. I've also tried using the insert image button, but when I put in the URL I get the same error

What image are you trying to use?
If you still can't get it I can edit it for you.

Don't bother making that your sig. It's over a megabyte which means Nome will remove it, and act like he's sorry and just following orders. The Nazis were just following orders too, just following orders.... <3

really? A megabyte is the limit? I can only make a guesstimate that there are currently probably only 5,000-10,000 common users of these forums (and by common I mean they use these forums at least once a week or so), and probably only 10% of them actually have sigs (with pics).

Oh well, rules are rules.

but Nome, the picture I was trying to use was
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g23/I_eat_corn/Ronald-MacDonald-vs-Christopher-Wal.gif

But now thinking about it, I probably wouldn't be able to use it because of "Mature Content" lol

EDIT:
Okay, looking at something here under my edit signature, and there is a part under signature permissions that specifically says that animated gifs are not allowed, so im not sure what to do.

That's only for uploading, you can still have animated images as long as it's hosted else-where.

Yeah, you should probably avoid something like that for a sig. Gifs should be (well) under 500kb too.

So its okay to use mature content in a post, as long as you only give the link and not the actual picture? But not in a sig?

Im just wondering, seeing as you replied regarding the picture, you must have seen it. And you included the link in your reply, so you apparently dont intend to edit his post to remove it, or at least it would be ineffective as the link is in the quote in your reply.

You mods sure work in mysterious ways.

I guess its time for a serious debate regarding genitals and meat grinders, with links to pictures. (yes, that was a joke).
