Yes, yes, we had a poll.
Unfortunately, not everything went according to plan. The mods and admins convened, and it was decided that while there is definitely a demand for the old OT, such a forum was simply untenable for an official board and may reflect badly upon S2. That doesn't mean all is lost.
For now, enjoy the new OT--cleaner and more strictly moderated. Once the dust settles, and we see how things work out, we may add a "old OT" subforum. Til' then, enjoy your unmoderated goodness in the OT OT Thread (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?t=66158).

This should have been the first thread up, really. The main problem was that you guys did this instantly, which in raged me due to the fact the poll felt pointless once this happened.

I do quite like how you guys are trying to shut us up with locked threads and infractions. As if we've done something wrong for being annoyed with the fact that this was handled very, very poorly.

Kros is simply the sole dedicated moderator for the section. Don't place any blame on him--the decision to "serialize" OT (cue Al Gore) was actually made before he offered to mod it.
I've got my full trust in him though!

He's closing threads left right and centre though - even when they don't break the rules (see ll4mma's thread regading "the subforum didnt happen then").
It's ridiculous. Sure, this place needed cleaning up.
This is the internet equivalent of a town having a litter problem, and the mayor bringing in marshall law and curfews.

Can you honestly answer me as to why you bothered to make that thread, simply to throw everything we said out the window? I'm not calling you out, I would just like an answer that's more precise than "this is what we decided" because that's BS and you know it. If that's how it was going to be handled, you wouldn't (shouldn't) have asked for our opinions in the first place.
Edit: By the way, I think that thread should be revived. There was a lot of good posts in that thread in regards to how people felt about this community as it was, and how they would have liked for it to be in the future, which is very relevant to this forum makeover.

Seconding this. Especially since it wasn't just a "select few" that voted in the thread - the voting numbers were in the hundreds. So it was a significant proportion of your forum userbase.

I made the thread before consulting any of the other mods and admins--that was my personal initiative in response to what was happening at the time, so I take the blame in getting everyone's hopes up. Fact is, I had no clue what the future of OT would be--I just wanted to know what the forumers wanted it to be. My statement that the old OT would be preserved was unfortunately erroneous and should not have been made, as I ultimately had no control over that bit.

AFAIK the voting was a bit messed up because a large number of users decided to screw around and vote for multiple options.

I see. Even so, that thread should be restored, even as just a reminder as to what direction we, as a community, wanted to go. Because it was NOT down a spammy path of /b/isms, a lot of us wanted the same(ish) things you guys did.
