HoN Stats iPhone & Android apps! [version 1.2 released]

Just wanted to let ya'll know that our HoN Stats iPhone app is now available in the iTunes App Store (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=348561001&mt=8) as a free download!

What's New in Version 1.2

Added a refresh button to the player list view.
New options window! Along with defining a sort order, you can now choose the stats that appear in the player list.
HoN Stats now tracks SMR (solo matchmaking rank), TMR (team matchmaking rank), and Average GPM (gold per minute).
Bug fixes!

Okay, so this is how it works.

Players added to your main view are dynamically sorted by a selectable field, allowing you to see at a glance the best players in your crew (and ensuring that I'll be eternally listed somewhere in the middle). Tapping a player's name takes you to the detailed stats view, showing off the player's specific totals and game averages.

Given the relatively long approval times i'd rather not have the app sit on the bleeding edge. I can hang in there for the api to implement it.

I'd dig that as well, but as far as I understand, replays will be in a format designed specifically for the HoN client, so I doubt we'll be be seeing them in HoN Stats, but we will include as much info as we can. I like having my own little HoN pocket reference. :]

Okay, I found a workaround to put the grave accent (`) in a text field on the iPhone (instructions below for any interested). However, when I type in my name, I get "Communication Failed: Unable to retrieve stats due to: bad URL". This is a problem with the app I'm assuming?

For those with the funky grave accent in your name, go to the mail app and in the "To" field, hit the num pad then the "#+=" button and its in the top left. Then just C&P it.

Nope... For downloading the app just use your regular iTunes account which you use for any other iPhone app. For using the app you just enter a player's name who you wish to track stats.

This has been answered a few times, but just to clarify...


We are iPhone developers, and so our current focus will be the iPhone/iPodTouch platform, expansion of the HoN Stats featureset, and continued polish.

We may develop HoN Stats for other systems (like say, Android), but as we don't have the devices to test on (or development experience on said devices), don't expect a release in the immediate future.


With that said, thanks everyone for your support! The feedback so far has been great, glad to see so many people making use of the app, even at this early stage. :]

I really hope you guys extend the idea out to show the more detailed, individual game stats. Maybe an hero/item database + item wishlist [so you could theorycraft item builds and know how much they would cost]. Or just a page on upcoming/previous patch notes.

It automatically refreshes every name when you load the application. I will likely be adding a refresh all button at some point in the future.

The app could use a refresh button so you don't have to exit/open after adding new players.
Use the top Heroes of Newerth logo as a link to heroesofnewerth.com.
Let us see hero stats on our phones (would be awesome).
Use the bottom HoN logo when reviewing a players stats for something, heroesofnewerth.com or whatever.

Sux. Hopefully some of the big HoN guys will make them available though, it's just one of those nice-to-have things. And they need to be comparable, highest starting STR, STR/level and so on. Sorry if I'm giving you lots of work :D

I just uploaded some screenshots of the latest iPhone version and thought I would share them here.

It should be submitted to Apple tomorrow and available sometime early next week.

Additionally I believe we'll also be submitting an updated Android build which improves performance a bit and fixes the landscape crash.

To remove a friend, just "long press" on his pseudo and the choice "remove from list" will be displayed. simple and efficient on my Hero :)

Just hit up the new version, and it works great! Haven't had any force closes with this new version. The only other thing I would request is a "remove entire clan" button. I accidentally added the wrong clan on mine, and had to remove about 25 people one by one! lol.

HonStats itself does not. The ad service we use requires it, although a quick google search was unable to reveal why.

Some way to pull the most recent matches for a particular player is #1 on my most wanted feature list as well. Just waiting on some updates to the XML api.

It should be working again. These applications (both the iPhone and Android) depend on a public API server provided by S2 Games. This server was offline from for a few days towards the end of last week and part of this weekend. This was causing the crash / lack of updates.

I'm going to take a pass at pumping up the error handling a bit this weekend. It wont help when the stats server is offline but the app shouldnt crash to desktop when that happens :/

Stats relating to matchmaking are not working. Pub stats should be working fine. There's a lot of instability in HON regarding stats at the moment. The second there is a stable API for me to pull both pub and matchmaking stats from again you can expect an update.

Ok I have the bug for adding players fixed. I'll have it submitted in an hour or two. Hopefully you guys should have it sometime early next week.

Additionally I've noticed that S2 is now pushing down separate ranked vs normal stats via the API now. I'll work on getting a tab on the player detail screen sometime this week which will switch between pub/ranked stats.

I wrote a utility which scrapes the hero skills / pictures etc from the game data files into a portable database. Messed around a bit with displaying them on the iPhone.

One of these days when i can figure out how to integrate it into the existing UI scheme (and when i am not working so much) I'll probably get it in there.
