Magebane Guide (or fail?)

Magebane is a medium level carry hero that is quite squishy in the beginning. He is very item dependent and requires last-hitting skills. It is also very helpful to have a babysitter laning with you.

Skills

Mana Combustion is what all your enemies hate about you. You will get rid of their much needed and wanted mana. Flash is your escape/chase/gank spell. You should never die or let your enemie escape with this ability if used correctly. Master of the Mantra is very underrated. People do not realize that the spell cast slow can be just enough time to get rid of the mana they need to cast it and get at least 2 more hits in. It can also kill...lets say a puppet master with a little hp left. Hes trying to get away and has enough mana to cast his hold. Guess what? When he casts it hes dead instead of still being alive and getting away.

Skill Build
This is in no way the only, or best way to build Magebane. But, this is the build i like to use and it works for me.

1)Flash
2)Mana Combustion
3)Mana Combustion
4)Master of the Mantra
5)Mana Combustion
6)Flash
7)Flash
8)Mana Rift
9)Mana Combustion
10)Flash
11)Mana Rift
12)Master of the Mantra
13)Master of the Mantra
14)Master of the Mantra
15)Stat Point
16)Mana Rift
17-25)Stat Point

The Flash in the beginning is for a quick escape if your i trouble. Mana Combustion for when you go in to try and get them and get rid of their mana quickly to take as little damage as possible from spells. The Master of the Mantra as the 4th skill for that nice slow down of their abilities and the damage that can kill. I get Mana Rift and level 8 becauce any earlier on your enemies will usually not have any mana at all so it will not do much damage. After that, you should max Mana Combustion, then flash, then Master of the Mantra.

Starting Items

This is what i will get when first starting out to the lane. 3 RoB, 1 hp pot, 1 Fleetfeet OR 1 Pretenders mask (your choice), and 3x Minor Totems. If you can last hit you can probably get your loggers hatchet by the 1:00 mark? If you do not have someone that can harrass them but they do, go in quick, last hit, and get out. Also it helps if someone on your team can get a courier.

Early Game Items

http://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_LoggersHatchet.jpghttp://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_Soulscream.jpghttp://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_PowerSupply.jpghttp://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_Marchers.jpghttp://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_Lifetube.jpg

This is what i aim for ~15 min. This should not be to much of a problem, though it depends on your last hitting skills. Get at least 1 soulscream ring and MAYBE if you really need survivability a fortified bracelet. The power supply is life saving. do not underestimate it. The life tube is to start building that runed axe.

Mid-Game ~30 min

http://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_Steamboots.jpg(str)http://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_Splash.jpghttp://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_WhisperingHelm.jpg

This is what I aim for in mid-game ~30 min. (Of course keep your items from early game). Steamboots on strength for survivability, runed axe mostly for damage and how easy it makes farming, and a whispering helm. This is the time when you start to be unstoppable. You should be doing team ganks and participating in team fights. When in a team fight, make sure you are not one of the first ones going in. You will be killed pretty quickly if you are in the middle of all the spells since you are still just a bit to squishy.

Late Game ~45

http://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_Brutalizer.jpghttp://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_ManaBurn2.jpg

Many people do not like brutilizer on magebane. I do not understand...How can a passive stun on the fastest attacker in the game not be good...The Geomanters Bane will give you an even faster attack and Illusions that, and correct me if im wrong, also have mana burn and the passive stun? Not sure about that. If you are a good carry then you are on the top of your team and the other team fears you. To be able to carry all of this(By the way just so some people who don't understand know, you keep the other items from mid-game EXCEPT the power supply)

Your inventory should look a little something like this by ~50 min mark:
http://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_PowerSupply.jpghttp://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_ManaBurn2.jpghttp://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_Steamboots.jpg
http://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_Brutalizer.jpghttp://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_Splash.jpghttp://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_WhisperingHelm.jpg

You may get rid of the power supply by late game and put in one of the luxury items i am about to show you.

Luxury Items

http://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_Critical1.jpghttp://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_Evasion.jpghttp://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_LifeSteal4.jpghttp://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_Pierce.jpg

Riftshards on Magebane is godly. You can do 500 damage crits and just massacre the other team. The Wingbow is self-explanitory. Amazing item on any agility hero. The Symbol of Rage will make you invincible and if you get down on hp just activate it and wala! About full hp! Shield Breaker is very good for its armour reduction and the amount of damage it will give you.

Situational Items

http://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_IronShield.jpghttp://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_MagicArmor2.jpghttp://www.heroesofnewerth.com/images/items/Item_Protect.jpg

The Iron Shield is just incase the other team has some hard hitters. The shamans headdress is good incase the other team has alot of pesky nukers. Recommended to upgrade into a idol barrior if you get. The Null Stone can block almost any skill someone throws at you. I believe there is a guide out there that lists everything it can block, but i cannot find it at the momment.

Different Item Options

Now i know that some people do not like runed axe and brutilizer on magebane. So i will provide options for if you will not get these items.

Runed Axe Options
-Go for a survivability item such as Shamans Headdress for those pesky nukers or maybe an Irons Shield for hard hitters. You can get a HotBL but i wouldn't recommend it.

-Go for a Brutilizer if you would like to have it.

-If you will also not get a brutilizer, get a geomanters bane after your whispering helm and start on your Luxury (Shield Breaker or Rift).

-Something that makes you happy

Brutilizer Options
-Go for a survivability item such as Shamans Headdress for those pesky nukers or maybe an Irons Shield for hard hitters. You can get a HotBL but i wouldn't recommend it. Another good item would be a null stone to block many many skills (recommended if you have enough money)

-Start on Luxury
