Sol's Comet

Sol's Comet: An item that holds the power to summon a comet down upon any area on the map. The comet reveals a large area for 4 seconds before smashing into the ground, dealing moderate magic damage in a 225 radius. It would reveal in a huge 650 radius. Upon being revealed units and heroes would gain a debuff notifying them that they have been revealed by Sol's Comet and take 2 damage per second.

Units and Heroes caught in the Impact zone (225 radius after a 4 second delay) will take 225 magic damage and 25 magic damage every second for 3 seconds. The impact zone would be revealed 2 seconds before the comet strikes by smoldering rocks and a fiery red glow.

**Unlimited Range**

The image of the icon would resemble a glass orb with either a comet swirling inside or a glass orb with fire licking the inner edges of the glass.

The art involved in the comet falling would be the area being revealed at first, and then gradually getting brighter (perhaps even slight burning) until the comet actually strikes. At .5s a fiery ball would crash into the impact zone.

"Sol's Comet" -On use (75 second CD)-

The Comet's primary use would be scouting. This would allow the owner to decrease ganks on his team significantly. The 75s CD means that it cannot be spammed, and the debuff and minor damage (2dmg/s just to further help a hero notice they are under the comet's effects). In team fights the comet could be used as a mass reveal to stop teleporting enemies (Magmus/Behe/Kraken), to avoid hiding enemies, and to put in a little extra magic damage (300 after DoT).

The comet is, however, very expensive. At 5900 it is one of the more expensive end game items. It has great utility if used by good players, as it can stop team ganks from fog and can increase the effectiveness of a gank on the enemy forests.

This item having unlimited range allows an ally to either scout for other allies or to scare off enemies. Obviously if it is used at max range or even from a moderate distance you will not be able to reach an enemy if he decides to run. Even from a small distance away it can be both a blessing or a curse for your team, if you use it at a wrong time the enemy will run and you will lose your advantage.

Its Stat bonuses are mediocre for a late game item, but most of its components (Sustainer/glowstone) are easily accessible and can be used for the whole game. Blessed orb is its most expensive component but at 2100 it is also a fairly common item.

Some possible changes?
-True damage on the comet's strike area.
-Allow the 2dmg/s to pull creeps, giving the item amazing creeping utility as a player could pull up to 3 creep spawns from across the map.
-Increase comet strike damage
-Decrease vision reveal
-Increase vision reveal
-Change Sustainer to Great Arcana in recipe.
-Limit range of cast
-Increase stat gain
-Make it a channeling spell

call me old fashioned but I just dont like an item that reveals an area of the map at any time.

Wards of Sight, Pharoahs soul, Pestilence's ult, trees Tree, scouts ward. By golly, that's quite a bit of stuff you must not "like".

Edit - Ward of Reveal and Bloodstone both reveal as well, just not as likely as Ward of Sight.
